I watched a few races today because I'm going to the 12 hours of Sebring on the 20th. You're right, these commentators are probably the best in the business.
My first in person race. After growing up watching ALMS, and then watching IMSA here on youtube, decided to attend. The sights and sounds were fantastic, defiantly coming back next year. Also the video footage of the race diminishes the speed of the cars, and how loud they are. Was blown away at the speeds all the cars were going on the back straight. Seeing cars go by at 300 (km/h) is in a word. Wow. Putting that in perspective the Mazda’s fastest lap was a 1:06. The Audi R10 TDI from back in the day set the lap record of 1:04. And a Porsche 917/30 with over 1000 hp set a lap time of 1:14 in the 60’s. Now that’s progress. Now there’s Indy Toronto this weekend.🙂
I was there 4th year in a row. Always look forward to the race every year. I have now found my racing series to follow. Great day, great race at a legend of a track. I just wish it was longer, 6 hours of Canada would be superb.
I went there when I was young and it was my first ever in person race, absolutely loved it, I was right on the turn for the big crash so that shocked me as a kid.
For sure- when I was their in 2015 I was lucky enough to stike up a convo w/ a couple of drivers who said they love it 'cause it's an "old school" track w/ all the fast corners, elevation changes, etc. so much better than most modern BS cookie cutter tracks
I was just talking to someone about that. It's hard for me to believe that the current NASCAR product is bringing in more ratings than IMSA but I digress. I love that we can count on the whole race broadcast to be available on RU-vid. I watched all of this and the Watkins Glen race, over the last few days. 🏁🏎
It is amazing how slow the GT cars look compared to the DPi cars. They are absolutely hauling through these corners but look they aren't even moving after watching the DPis for a lap or two
Thanks for the video! I’m wondering though, when is the Watkins Glen Michelin Pilot Challenge race going to be uploaded? It’s been 12 days and nothing. :(
All support series races are posted the business day following their broadcast on NBCSN. The broadcast airs today, July 11 at 6 PM ET on NBCSN. So, the broadcast will be available tomorrow. Thanks.
The finish of this race was the feel-good story of this season. But that wreck... when you can't even see the car, that's scary. I have never seen such a wreck made of a tire barrier. He looked like he might have had a broken hand or forearm, but all I know is what's in the video. I sure hope it's all minor. (Trying to avoid spoilers.) I feel sick to think of people getting seriously injured or worse for my entertainment. I appreciate them not showing the actual extrication live. He deserves his dignity. (Race broadcasters in the 70s didn't use that discretion.) Get well soon! And thank you track workers and emergency staff for doing such an awesome job with that situation! I don't know how they got to him so quickly. (If it had been in Le Mans, I think the tire barrier repair would have taken an hour :-P )
'Cos this was only a 2 hour 40mins race and pausing the clock on 24hr races is unfair for all those working the event and have barely slept in 36+ hours, yes they get stood down every few hours for a bit depending on their role and manning but they don't really get any sleep and they really don't deserve to be kept there for hours extra.
@@ponanikhoza1934 No, I am a fan of Bill, lol. Plus, that part of the race cracked me up, both Porsche complaining and Bill doing it, haha. Old allies at RLL!
Something is definitely wrong with the gtlm BOP when the same manufacturer has won 5 in a row at completely different tracks when the class is normally so competitive
Last season I was glued to GTLM. I think the Fords and Corvettes might have been hit kinda hard this year, or maybe it's just Porsche not being restricted enough.
R. Ben Barthelme theautojunkie interesting thought. With everybody moving towards forced induction nowadays. Would be a hell of a power plant. Also would bring back the whole “win on Sunday, sell on Monday” from back in the day.
#57 MSR ... looked like Bia was a little quicker than Kat in spite of the car being set up for Kat. Only her 3rd time racing these cars ? She did a good job qualifying the car on a track she'd never driven. I'd like to see how she'd do as the primary driver. At the Glen Bia smoked the #86's 2nd driver.... Love the teaming of these two.
1:24:39 How come they do big burnouts in American sports car racing but not overseas? It can't be bad for the cars and tires otherwise they wouldn't do it. When these teams compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans do they still do burnouts?
on the Juncos accident, it might help if the first row of tires was ten feet out from the rest of the tires up against the wall. The first row impact slows down and take the energy way down and then the rest of the tires stop the car. I've seen that set up at other tracks and it seems to work better. Glad the driver was ok buy Juncos lost the car completely #imsa #ronfellows #mosport #canadiantiremotorsportspark
Race broadcasts are not uploaded until after their broadcast on NBCSN. The race airs today at 6 PM ET on NBCSN and therefore the race will be uploaded tomorrow. Your patience is appreciated.
2:55:25 She is a savage. She counted to the day how long he's gone without a win. 2,136 days is almost 6 years! Even if I was in his shoes and just won I'd feel a little down after that. Keep her!
@@Maenfy yes, their calendar is Sebring, Mid-Ohio, Watkins Glen, Road America, Laguna Seca and PLM, but the class will also be eligible at Daytona but not for points.
Damn, all this bounces and hitting each other cars, make it more interesting and entertaining. In *Formula 1* all this would have been penalized with 10 second each 🤣🤣🤣
The whole "rear drivers don't take time off" is just silly. They all literally take time off every year. Not saying it's not hard, they deserve the rest lol. Just it's a literal break from work. Varies by series.
2:42:48 "Two Porsches (Fords) are right there as well.. #67 and #66. Any slip up from the leading quartet and the BMW's (Fords) will be right there." Hehe Too bad there wasn't an opportunity to call the Fords "Corvettes" there.
I have been a racing spectator for over 50 years. I love motor racing. I the whine of the high rpm motors the gear changes into and out of the corners is part and parcel to the over all experience. But it has been ruined by the constant babbel of the needless narrators. You have killed the audio so we are now watching a silent race with invasive, and needless talking. It has become radio with pictures. There is no excitement at all and for the narrators to try to add the excitement with their idiotic commentary is very boring and distractive. I will watch no more if when it starts I hear no engines replaced by rediculou,, useless babbel!!!!!
When will the fans wake up and protest the use of hybrid electric cars. If one of those cars crashes and the acid from the battery system leaks 1/4 of a fluid cup into the soil it will contaminate 3 square miles of ground water with a Major carcinogen. That is why Toyota was not allowed to build the Prius in Japan and had to ship their program to Canada with some $$$$$ added in. The Japanese Gov. halted their production for fear of contamination of their countries fresh water. Now these cars travel the road of North America by way of cash to get them approved for city streets. Scientist are say these car could well be the next Ecological Disaster waiting to happen. The TV Show TOP GEAR covered this about 4 years ago for about a week and it peaked my interest and I investigated these facts. Then out of the blue TOP GEAR stopped its attack and suddenly there were Toyota commercials and there was never another word until a Jeremy Clarkson interview where he hinted about the pay off.
