Would LOVE to see someone mod or hotrod a mp3. There isn't many parts out there but a exhaust and carburetor upgrade cdi or fule injection whatever simple easy stuff that wakes up the motor! There has to be something that can be done to the cvt idk.. than toss on some good tires. Body kits would be amazing
Man, I can't tell you how much I love these mid to large sizes scooters. They are so comfortable to ride and fast enough to get me around. I had a Yamaha Majesty 400 and its top speed is roughly the same. Too bad I can only afford to keep one motorbike around.
Have you ever heard of insurance price for motorcycle in Ontario, Canada? Insanely expensive... New motorcycle riders have to pay $2500 - $3500 for the first one or two years for their beginner motorcycles...
I think the Majesty 400 is a lot faster than this 282 kg heavy MP3 500. It is as fast or slow as a Kawasaki Ninja 250 due to its weight. I really hope the Majesty 400 is much faster. Those insurance prices are crazy! Looks like the government does not want to have a fresh new batch of riders in Canada.
Whatever you do, do not buy a Yamaha Tmax 530. I bought a brand new one in Sep 2018, and I have barely ridden it. Sounds like a broken 2-stroke bike being thrashed or an old washing machine. Took it back to the dealer straight away and they offered me 1/2 my money back. It's fast, yes, about as fast as my 2013 Vstrom 650 twin upto about 120 kph, but the noise is just unforgivable.
What I can remember: The EU has a decision that no speedometer should be accurate in speed. According to EU norms for speedometer deviations against actual speed, the basic rule is that the meters must never show too little. Actual speed must never exceed what the speedometer shows. However, the actual speed may be lower than the meter indicates. According to a 1997 directive, the actual speed of a car, where the meter shows 90 km / h, may be 78.2 km / h. Try to do the same with any car in Europe and you get the same results.
Lately speedometers in cars are pretty accurate. Not in all new cars though. Also the same goes for KTM motorcycles. The speedometers on KTM bikes are spot on.
I used to blast it at your speed every morning on a 08' Scarabeo 500ie for 3 years on my way to university. Now that I have a fiancé, I'm looking to purchase an mp3 and drive safely. HAHA.
Hi, I tested the MP3 300 and the ASR light was also on. How do you turn th ASR on? I tried to push the ASR button once, then for 10 seconds, nothing changed. Light still on?!? Any ideas?
You have the manual? ASR is on by default, you can shut it down by pressing the button 3 or 4 seconds. I think then it will show the light. But this has been a year ago, so I can't remember. Should be in the manual!
@@MotoSnax Hi, yes I found a manual on the net. Since I couldn't change it, I assume it was faulty. The wrench also appeared the whole time. They should service their test bikes better.
If it shows a wrench it might also be that it just needs servicing (at certain intervals / odo meter). But is the light is on it might be that ASR is failing. Oh well, importers or dealerships should hand over bikes that are flawless.
Depends on where you live. And how many kilometers for an hour? Do you mean how much kilometers it can run on 1 liter fuel? Because kilometers per hour depends on your riding style. :)
Mileage; 17-23 km per liter, depending on how fast you ride. Price? Varies per country. Check the local Piaggio website. Over here in The Netherlands it is 13.279 EUR. That is a lot of money.
@@MotoSnax I am going to have to get a class M for it. And to pass it on my state you have to learn on a manual shift. I hate manually shifting anything. Bit I want an MP3 later on. Right now I got a Kymco Super 8.I love it though even if it lacks the power of an mp3.
Over here you can ride the MP3 if you had your car license before 19 jan 2013. After that you would need at least an A2 license and most riding schools only have manual shifting motorcycles. Just a few have automatic ones.
I don't have that much experience with these three wheel bikes. Peugeot has the Metropolis, Yamaha the Tricity, Piaggio the MP3 and there are probably a few more.
I have this scooter, acceleration is great, you can overtake any car on a motorway. However, after 120km/hour the wind and two small front wheels make it uncomfortable to drive. I cruise at 110/h and it seems the perfect speed for this model.
For health reasons I have to "move on" to a different mode of biking.. I need the safety stop with locked wheels. A scooter like this has been a thought. After seeing this ride, I guess it's only my ZX10R sound that will really be missed.. Ok, don't get all teary eyed.. A lot will be missed, but the essential experience will be there.. I definately need to try one of these. 😀
You can only lock the wheels under 7 km/h (or something like that) so you have to be quick to lock it. Above 7 km/h (or something like that, I can't look it up right now) it will unlock again.
hey my friend!i have an mp3 250 2009 and i m thinking to buy an 500 like you!can you tell me please the fuel difference between them?i herd that the 500 burns 5,5 - 6 litres at 100 klm is it true?thank you!
@@MotoSnax hello ,so if it helps to know that I had the Ermax brand sports windshield, the Malossi clutch, Vario Malossi, Akrapovic exhaust and Malossi roller, my MP3 was a missile I surprised a lot of maxi scooters it was the 2017 model
R.-E. R. Do you know what those block markings on the asphalt mean? That you can overtake on the right. The car blocked my perfect merge that is why I used the shoulder for a split second. Any sane driver would not move a lane next to a lane where traffic merges. Where do you live as you state that when entering a freeway you are not allowed to overtake cars when you want to merge. If I follow your rules I would have to brake and get behind the 2nd truck at low speed hoping no other traffic would hit me. Then move one lane at low speed hoping no one would hit me.
Not where I live where those block markings are present. Block markings mean you are allowed to overtake on the inside. Else I would have entered the highway between the two trucks and that is the stupidest thing someone can do. Highly dangerous. That car moved back a lane without looking over his/her shoulder if there would be any merging traffic (though they have the right of way) so I used a tiny bit of the shoulder. Even that is allowed if there is not enough room or if someone does not make room (not making a bit of extra space for someone to merge is not illegal by the way, but as a courtesy people do it most of the time or even change lanes at access ramps). So, it might be illegal where you live, but legal where I live.
@@MotoSnax I know the lines you're talking about. Block markings mean no overtaking from that particular side ; and the standards marking mean you can move from one side to another (multiple lanes road) to overtake people - from the left. Right is speed and overtaking lane, thats basic security and I believe you when you say it's not like that in your country, i'm just very sorry basic street security behaviour is not present in your society :/ Thank you for your response, I didn't mean to sound condescending, even if I must admit I did little effort to avoid it :/
In what country do you live? And what would you have done if you were in the saddle of this MP3? Would you have entered the freeway behind the 2nd truck (the last of two), between the trucks or in front of the 1st truck (the front one) but braking for the car that moved back a lane thinking it was safe to do with traffic entering the freeway? The only thing with our traffic rules which I could have done is enter before the front truck and behind the car while braking because the car was in the way, making the truck brake and also the second truck, annoying other motorists. What I did was the safest thing by using a tiny bit of the shoulder. But that is in my country (The Netherlands). We have about 650 traffic deaths per year of which 30-50 are motorcyclists.
Good speed at this Mp3, only I don't understand why you overtake on the right side the trucks at the beginning of the video, we do mostly on the left side, otherwhise stay behind it and keep distance, further succes and have fun..
Over here you are allowed to overtake on the right while merging on the freeway from an entrance ramp. Except for the last part where I used the shoulder. That is not allowed unless you really can't otherwise and even then still questionable. The reason I don't want to merge into the freeway behind the trucks is because they drive 80 km/h so I have to drop speed, enter at around 80 km/h while cars drive somewhere between 120-140 km/h which make me a sitting duck if someone doesn't pay full attention to the other traffic. So I take my chances and try to merge in front of them. I needed a bit of the shoulder but would do it again like this if I had the choice to merge behind or in front of them.
And weighs about 90 kgs more. Beverly is MUCH faster overall. The MP3 is for car drivers, not all of them are used to much torque or power. The MP3 500 can barely keep up with a Ninja 250. I met someone on a Ninja 250 while riding and could not overtake him.
Didn't wind beat your motorcycle? When I drive my MP3 500 hpe it's dangerous for me to exceed 120 km/h, because of the wind. Maybe I do not drive well, por maybe it's a problem with this kind of vehicles. I don't know, but you seem to be safe...
With a top case anything above 120-130 km/h was dangerous, without it about 140 was not a problem. Doing top speed was not funny and I would not recommend it.
@@MotoSnax I have heard the piaggio mp3 300 is more stable, and it is harder to tip, because it has a lower centre of gravity than the 500? Is that true?
Thanks, so an exhaust does make a big change. Just fitted the polini maxi hi speed. And with stock exgaust it lacks power to push beyond 8000rpm now and still only reaching 125 on the clock, just get there faster.
