All these kids are FAST. Most of these kids in the relay are at least 47s runners. He just ran a 44.something and he is in HS. I have great respect for all the runners, it is that this guys is in at a different level...Trust me a 47s 400m in HS is super fast like stud fast....but a 44.something is well world league.
@@floppacubotupatronxd8275 44.7 counts for nothing, what is his 400m time? You bozos bring up split times like it counts for anything. Nobody cares about Usain Bolts split times in the 4x100.
This kid is legit. That's the most insane comeback ever! I read the story before watching the video, but when I saw how far back he was when he started the anchor leg I figured I had the wrong video.
I have seen at least six better comebacks that were a lot more "insane": 1) Drew Hunter in the distance medley relay at the 2016 Penn Relays; 2) Obea Moore in the 4 x 400m relay at the 1995 California State Championships; 3) Heather Dorniden in the 600m race at the Big 10 Indoor Track Championship; 4) Cathal Dennehy in the 4 x 400m relay at the Ireland Collegiate Championship; 5) Dave Wottle in the 800m final at the 1972 Olympics; 6) Lasse Viren in the 10,000m final at the 1972 Olympics.
@@grzlbr Hunter had to make up 50 meters on a 1600 meter run against a nationally ranked high schooler who had run 4:15 for 1600 meters. Hunter caught him with 200 meters left and the final 150 meters was an amazing all out sprint. Further, the first leg on Hunter's distance medley relay was tripped and the entire team came from damn near last at the end of the 1st leg to win by making 50m up and passing a 4:15 high school miler on the last leg. Let's not be stupid, Skippy. I strongly suggest you watch the entire 12+ minutes of that amazing comeback...it dwarfs this comeback...as do the other 5 comebacks I mentioned.
@@grzlbr Using your faulty logic you are saying that making up 0.575 seconds per 100m is not impressive. On a national level or international level race that is stunning. Can you imagine the ignorance of someone saying Michael Johnson made up 2.3 seconds on the final lap of a relay race and it was not impressive? Beating a nationally ranked runner at his best distance by more than 0.5 seconds per 100m is impressive. (Unless you are a dumbass that is just trying to throw shade)
LOL gotta love that ending! The kid is bringing a lot of attention and excitement to the sport, not only at the hs level either! Incredible to see what he's been able to accomplish. This was an epic race! Amazing to see him track down the DeSoto runner, who seemed to have an insurmountable lead. No lead is safe when Matthew Boling is in the race!!!
Boling is exactly what the sport of Track & Field needs, a young exciting Super Star. As an old track guy I’d love to see the sport get back into the spotlight.
For all trackster to whom have watched many meets in UIL history. I jave witnessed the GOAT. 10.13 -100m, 26ft- long jump, and topped it with a 44.74- 400m. Move over Roy Martin ....... Meet MATHEWW BOLING. HOW DID WE ALLOW HIM TO GET OUT OF TEXAS..... MY GOD
the realG not in 100, hes .4 off the wr and most people at the trials dont even get that close, barely securing sub 10. just look at usain bolts last competitive race in 2017, the people in the finals with him weren"t sub 10 seconds by up to .2 seconds! this kid would not get destroyed.
You had to be there to feel the energy in that stadium. As a native Texan I've never seen anything more thrilling an impressive at UIL Texas State Track and Field meet since 2001 Jonathan Johnsons 1:48 800m and in 2004 Dallas Skylines 4×100m girls team going 44.6 and Katy Cinco Ranchs Scott Seller 7.4ft high jump. I've forgot alot but I remember those because they were during the state championship races. Us Texans love our high-school sports. Great upload 👌 👍 👏
as someone who ran track myself in high school. i can say this kid is fun to watch. i get chills just like i do watching usain bolt. i hope he does try for the olympics. he would be cool to watch.
@@therealg4197 don't think it's a racial thing people say rubbish about athletes literally all the time. Now some white guy get praised in a black dominated sport and that's the thing you Immediately jump to. Like do you not watch other sports? People comparing saquon Barkley to Barry Sanders. Big wide receiver almost always get the Calvin Johnson comparison and Zion got compared to LeBron. And you act like white people only started speaking nonsense because of one white dude? Jeezus why does everything have to be about race? Stfu
What was Bolt's best 400 leg? Nobody is saying he is Bolt, but his improvement has been phenomenal, and nobody really has any idea where he is headed. Once he finally gets out of the blocks, his finishes do remind one of Bolt.
When he sits down with his grandkids he won’t be reflecting on the one moment in his high school track career yet he will reflect on what made him to be the great man and champion he is today. When you get time do your research on the anchor leg and the rest of Desoto’s relay. They definitely stand in a league of their own and have made history in track and field. So maybe you can discuss with your grandkids the truth about Desoto U
youngKOkid1 oh I agree with you, just cracking a joke. McClung has got some crazy hops, but this Boling kid has world-level talent. He’ll have a chance to perform on much bigger stages than Mack.
What's the point of video if the camera can't stay on the subject? The most important part of the race and the video quality disintegrates...been there, seen the celebrating...but one can still keep a decent frame in the middle of people who can't control themselves. Kudos to the coach at Strake J...the talent has to be developed and peaked at the right time...and I'll bet he's a coach dedicated to track...not a football coach who 'coaches' track part time like it's an offseason sport for football. Hope Texas high schools are learning to have coaches dedicated to X-country and Track/Field..
