I orderd the lapiz blue version but with the white interieur, rims and the motor of the old model here in the video. Good video review and comparison of the new and old model ! thumbs up
I have a 2019 octavia with this engine. Can confirm - it's extremely quiet, even without additional insulation work. if you just sit at a stop light without AC on, you literally don't know the car is turned on.
FYI. With auto hold you never have to touch the parking brake button, every time you come to a stop the green brake symbol appears so you know it’s engaged, simply take the car out of gear and take your feet off the pedals. To set off, out in first and go, once your clutch reaches the bite the handbrake disengages. Makes driving a manual a doddle, especially in traffic and for hill starts
Drove the older 177hp diesel in the passat CC model and it went like stink, no trouble gaining three figure teritory but it's really a motorway machine rather than a general use car.
Lowering cylinder capacities, adding a turbo and increasing revs is fine, so long as the engine gets perfectly balanced. I drove a new Honda Civic (Non-Turbo) recently, it felt really good indeed (It did felt more like a 2 Litre+) But there again, Honda are very adept at Engine Balancing. Ford still appear to have problems - Or do not even bother.
Stick with Diesel miles ahead.......I got almost 60 MPG to the gallon I drove it from West Cork to Alicante in Spain and back a super Car but never every would I touch petrol.......
I would say it is really not using the full engine potential, FCA can make 1.4 with 170 HP, Peugeot 1.6 with 280 HP, this engine could have about 200 HP if it was needed in any car :)
Wouldn't touch it, if you are having a car of this size it needs a bigger engine than that. Extracting 150 from a 1.5t yeah sounds ok... For a polo or golf.. but the passat, no. Turbo will be under unbelievable workload.
At the end of the day, it's a big car the passat and a little 1.5 engine under the bonnet in this case albeit turbo charged... I know engine technology has moved on and more power can be extracted from smaller engines but how long is that size engine going to last trying to move this thing, the bloody turbo is going to go very early imo. My 2.0tdi had a fair bit of torque but often felt hatefully underpowered
