June 30, 2019 my review of my new 2019 Yamaha Kodiak 700 EPS, #1 VERY powerful #2 The front end is very light, too much throttle the front end will come up and you'll fall off the back! HOLD ON TIGHT! #3 Smaller than I expected, smaller than the King Quad and the Polaris Sportsman 570. #4 It's narrower and shorter than other ATV's in the same class, it will fit in a short bed pickup with the tailgate closed. #5 It runs HOT ! it's the new emissions it runs very lean that makes it run hot. #6 I am impressed with the heavy pressed steel lower control arms that will protect the axle and ball joints. #7 I will say again it's smaller than other ATV's in it's class, but that's good cause you'll find the smaller size and narrow that it will squeeze thru smaller areas , around rocks and trees. Bottom Line: I love it, I have owned the Suzuki King Quad 750 and the Polaris Sportsman 570 and the Yamaha Kodiak 700 is BETTER ! !
Oh man that's a sweet ride! The Kodiak is my nephews. Was thinking about getting what you got for myself. Really like that they come with 14in rims and 27" zillas. Lots of power or what?
@@divinedirtriding3956 A LOT of power. I'm also coming off owning a stock Grizzly 350 lol, 2wd, and I'm having to take it carefully with all the muscle this thing has lol. When I can get some decent hours without rain, I'll get a video up.
Yamaha makes a damn good machine just wish they put that new twin in the Grizz or the kodiak especially with there reliability I’m sure it would be a beast super beast lol great video
Nice video 😎congratulations on your new Yamaha Kodiak 👍 A couple of questions: is the steering pretty manageable without EPS ? And is the 686cc engine the exact same as the Grizzly or is it detuned a little bit less torque and hp ? I want one , just not sure if I want the Grizzly or Kodiak .
The steering is pretty good compared to other non eps wheelers, but with big tires and going through mud and ruts it's nice to have power steering. Also the EPS and SE models have front diff lock which is nice in some deep mud situations. I believe the Kodiak and Grizzly have the same exact engine, only difference is clutch weights which you can simply put Grizzly clutch weights in a Kodiak. The Kodiak feels like it has more low end torque because it's weighs less. I would recommend getting a Kodiak with power steering, unless you don't ride rough terrain and want to save money then the non eps Kodiak is just fine.
DivineDirt Riding ... thanks for the reply , I appreciate your input and feedback on the subject matter . I kinda like the smaller Kodiak , it seems like a nimble bike and easy to throw it around a bit when necessary, also nice for tight technical riding . I ride a lot of old logging roads and fire trails up in Michigan and sometimes ya gotta really wiggle your way through some overgrowth and thick brush , some of the bigger ATV’s have a tougher time with that . But yeah I think you’re probably right about the torque being that it’s a little bit scaled down machine and delivers better . Awesome 😎 have fun and be safe out there ... don’t let your buddies loop it lol 😂
I like that the Yamaha still uses a button to start. It is easier for the Polaris to just turn the key to start, but if you ever lose the key, you can just rewire it to start off the power switch and button. If my grandpa's old Polaris only had a keyed start, we would've had to buy a new key when we lost the one we had. I don't know why UTVs don't have a power switch like the ATVs for that same purpose.
Just to add, I'm extremely jealous of the snow!! Living down here in South Carolina, well, we have a better chance of winning the lottery versus having a decent snow lol.
There’s a new 2021 base mode here locally for 7299. Is that a good price? Or should I spend the money and get eps? Or just completely spend the money and get the grizzly? Maybe the kingquad 750
@myrandonlife 7299 is a good price, I do prefer power steering but it's quite a bit more so that's personal preference. 2022 side by sides are going to be released September 15th but idk if they will release ATV's so that 2021 base model is probably a good buy
@factionfx Yes we've had two sportsman 570's, one with and one without power steering and two Kodiak 700's one with and one without power steering. First I'll say the power steering for both units work well and help with controlling the machines, especially in ruts, mud, snow, or if you have mud tires like we did. The kodiak seems more nimble to me because the body is a little smaller compared to the 570. Other than that they aren't way different, partially because of the mud tires (more rough ride) but both fun to ride and good on trails especially if you don't put aggressive tires on. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
Really trying to decide on the same kodiak green everything between the eps and base model how do you like the mechanical 4x4 lever you expect any problems from that? I don't really need power steering or difflock so yeah let me know thanks and congrats on the beautiful Kodiak:)
Thanks, and it's a good unit for the price. If you don't need the extra stuff then save yourself the $. I think the mechanical 4x4 will work good and if it breaks it should be easier and cheaper to fix compared to electrical 4x4
DivineDirt Riding I have the 2018 base model. No complaints here. When you engage 4WD can you hear yours thump in the front diff. When it locks in? If so could you do a vid. Of it. Thanks!
Do me a favor, wiggle your exhaust a bit and see if it has some slop in it. My 2019 700 EPS model has a bit, wondering if they're all like it! Nice rig!
I owned the Polaris 570 and I had an issue with traction, got stuck all the time, the Polaris front liquid locker is a piece of shit and it won't push snow even with a small 50" plow
Yamahas are trash now. My friend's Kodiak 700 just had a big metal piece fall off the crank case causing oil to gush out from under the bottom while driving down the road. Yamaha is unreliable trash now
