Welcome back to our drive through Southern BC. Today we begin our journey up the Scenic Fraser Canyon, which in this video we will take Highway 1, the Trans-Canada Highway, from the town of Hope, up to Lytton, passing through some beautiful stretches of road, including bridges and tunnels built during the mid-20th century.
Next week: Highway 12, Lytton to Lillooet, BC

Highway I drove in 1974-79 Surrey- Prince George some times 3 times a week, snow, ice, rain and periodically Sunshine :-) . Always full Jake in the tunnels as I had a straight exhaust pipe. Thanks for the memory lane, still remember climbing up Jack Ass Mt. :-(

Thanks for the comment. One day once the highway reopens I want to make that drive up into Prince George. BC is a huge place.

We did this drive in reverse with our 2 year old granddaughter and she just loves the tunnels !!!

At minute 10:53, on your left of the tunnel, last tunnel before reach the Hells Gate Airtram, there is a pathway that takes you to an older tunnel you can walk through.

I haven’t had the opportunity yet to actually stop by and visit, but that is definitely on my bucketlist once things improve and the summer comes.

OK, please explain. At 3:18, you say this route takes "an hour longer". Longer than what?? I *_always_* take this route between Cache Creek & Vancouver, NEVER the Coquihalla. People always say the Coquihalla takes less time, but I can't see how that's possible, looking at a map... even with being allowed to speed😲at 120 km/h. Please explain, I'm tired of rolling my naked eyes😳👁👁at this issue

The hour refers to the time it takes to drive between Kamloops and Hope, where most vehicles are heading towards. The fastest route between Cache Creek and Vancouver is via Hwy 1 and the Fraser Canyon.
