I have to say, this is one of the best reviews of the A3. Very honest opinion and most big time reviewers just focus on something and proceed to slate the car. Well done 👏 keep the reviews up. I've ordered the Saloon S-Line and collecting next week
Thank you very much appreciate it Ian! Really into cars and like to do a fair review on them. Hope you enjoy the A3 , don’t hesitate to let me know how you get on with it :)
Have mine on order told roughly 2 to 3 weeks. Have ordered the 30 TFSI so glad to hear your comments on that engine . I have a 1.5 A3 saloon ,can't wait to get my hands on this car
@@jayzaccarini9174 I appreciate your honest review very much, thanks! I initially have ordered the 1.0ltr because of taxes and consumption! Are you satisfied with the fuel consumption? Would you change with an 1.5 in the meantime?
Mine is only a lowly Technik with the same 30 TFSI, I received confirmation that it had been built and now should be on its way to the UK shortly for March delivery. You've done a very good job, you're a great explainer of things.
Right video mate, convinced me to cancel my order for sport spec and get s line. Basically same as that just without the blue/red lights inside. Id say this video is better than any other video on RU-vid for this car. Appreciate it lad 👍
Jay Zaccarini got about another 8 weeks. As soon as I saw the s line In the garage I had to have it. Went to see the golf before and the A3 is in a different league mate
Excellent review. The creasing of the leather seats front and back looked awful after such a short time. It happened with my Q3. I chose cloth seats thereafter. I can't believe Audi permit this.
Thank you very much! First impressions are fantastic , getting used to the new MMI interface now , it does take a while to make the most of its features
@@stephenstead8650 im sure it would benefit but tbh I never feel it is underpowered or struggling , but I guess it depends how much driving she will be doing - I do roughly 5k per year town driving so wouldn't benefit from a remap. Only concern would be it voids the warrany but can't see there being any issues.
Thanks for that review. Test drove a 35tfsi but have just bought a 30 tfsi and have to say the one litre three cylinder almost felt more eager and peppy than the 1.5 four pot engine. I preferred the more comfortable Technik version with the smaller wheel rims, but have to say that the Sportline S that we eventually bought has far more features, looks good, and even on our country roads the 18” alloys are not too severe to drive on when in comfort mode. What do others think of the little three cylinder engine?
Jay Zaccarini Deffo agreed🔥 my current A1 is glacier white. I was contemplating to either upgrade to the A3 new turbo blue Audi or glacier white. Deffo sticking with the classy glacier white 🔥😍
@@tashniia786 nice! Is the old shape A1 or the new shape? I loved my old shape A1 in daytona grey, but the A3 looks best in white (obviously biased haha)
Congrats on your new A3! Just got the same engine and agree that it’s much better than I expected. Impressive pull when it gets going. Have to say it can a bit sluggish at low revs, but found this to be the same for the 1.5 when I test drove it. Easy to sort out with a cheeky downshift though.
You too! Yeah its an impressive little engine , I agree it can be sluggish at the bottom of the rev range in gear 3/4 but overall very impressed. Hope your enjoying the car? 👍
@@taylorthrall7321 About 45mpg for mixed town/motorway driving, and 45-50mpg for long motorway journeys. It notably suffers on shorter/start-stop traffic, with mpg dropping below 40. Overall very impressed with the fuel economy though.
@@MHVids409 I'll be doing about 200 mile a week in it, all motorway driving. Was a company car, if I'd of picked, I'd of gone for a diesel. Just worried economy on motorways will be bad haha
@@jayzaccarini9174 I get mine next week, 35TFSI S Line S Tronic, also in white. Am going from two Golf GTIs on the bounce so don't really relish dropping 80bhp, but that's the way it goes 😏 Should be nice though.
Hi, I just ordered a white ibis A3 35TFSI S.Line with mixed leather and fabric interior (Dark) .I was interested in changing the interior with full leather one like your A3 because I like it a lot and it gives a more of light. The only doubt if they are very delicate to clean and maintain. Can you tell me how you are feeling after some time? Thank you
Great video, looking to purchase the Audi A3 S Line on lease, still deciding on colour and options, but defiantly will be choosing the ambient light pack, they look great, didn't know they was in the back too. You mentioned you didn't go for the storage pack, fair enough, does it still have a little compartment to the right of the steering wheel under the lights or is that part of the storage pack? Thanks Also would you do a POV driving video?
Cheers ! The ambient lighting pack is a must have in my opinion , the storage pack includes the little compartment to the right of the steering wheel so unfortunately don’t have that. I did try and do a POV driving video but really struggled with it, i might give it another go as a lot of people have asked for it :)
As I mentioned in the video there are a few hard plastics on the rear door tops and the leather isn't as good but overall its still got that Audi feel and brilliant build quality 👍 But the old A3 is in a league of its own in terms of quality 🙌
I have mine coming on Friday, 35 TFSI SLine STronic in Ibis White. Coming from a A3 Black Edition 30 TFSI (2018) - you'll love the 30 TFSI, surprising quick and surprisingly nimble for such a small engine. If I could have chose it, I would have done but it wasn't available for me through my leasing broker :(
Excited for you 🙌 The 35tfsi is a good engine my dad had it in his old A3 but slightly to big for what i use it for :) mainly town driving and the odd motorway journeys. Ah thats a shame but at least its more power and not less than your old one 😁
@@esoteric_chaos hi cheers for the commment. I was lucky enough to get an apprenticeship with a multi national company here in Barrow-in-Furness where I live and still live at home so decided to spend my money on a car while I can afford something nice , once I get a house ill be downgrading most likely. Cheers
Really like this review mate well done. I’ve just ordered an A3 30TFSI but I’m really worried about the engine. Do you find it struggles at motorway speeds and how do you find the acceleration?
Hi Mate , apolgies for the late reply just seen your comment now! Doesn't struggle on the motorway , keeps up to speed really well and is extremely quiet and refined. If you put your foot down to overtake it is fine but obviously with it being the 110ps doesn't accelerate super quick really. However up to speeds of 50mph ish it doesn't really have any difference to the 35tfsi , just when going up to 60mph + it feels slightly slower but not in anyway underpowered Cheers
I ordered mine in June and it arrived mid August for collection on the 1st of September. Fingers crossed yours comes earlier than they say , mine was expected for mid October!
Great video mate , i’ve ordered the same car which comes August / September time 😅. Quick question tho does the 30 tsfi come with ambient lighting i thought it was only the 35 tsfi that does ?
Hi mate, what country have you ordered in? I know a lot of different markets have different specs. In the UK you could get ambient lighting on any engine from S-line and above I think. The new models you can order now after a slight change in specs means you get the LED interior lighting as standard which includes white lighting in the doors , in the phone box and footwells, but you will have to pay extra for the multi coloured lighting, hope that helps mate!
Thanks for the review !! I assume this has the sport suspension ? How's the comfort level ? I've heard that this A3 sport suspension is much more comfortable than other models.
Thank you! Very Comfortable car considering it's an s-line trim with the sports suspension. I have ridden in the old A3 on the sports suspension and it is much firmer than the new model, hope this helps :)
Very detailed and comprehensive review. I had some negative thoughts at first with the 30tfsi engine but a lot of car experts told me that is efficient enough. That's good news cause I like that car and I want to avoid the ugly BMW 1 series. I 'd like to ask you if the armrest in the backseats at standard equipment is just hard plastic so you have to upgrade it.
Cheers ! The 1.0ltr is a cracking engine , not as efficient as I’d hoped but still a good engine. The rear armrest comes as standard on s-line and above and is a leather 👍
Hi. Was thinking of getting a 2017 with a sunroof and a really good spec in a 1.4 however im reconsidering. Was the flat bottom steering wheel and the ambient lighting addons? If so how much? Cheers.
Hi Imy, the old model is still a cracking car but imo the interior is really lacking in terms of technology and design now. The quality is second to none though. The standard spec is good on the new A3 , the flat bottomed wheel was £150 and the ambient lighting was £100ish if I remember, its a definite though if you end up getting one, really lifts the interior at night
Currently have the Q2 on PCP which is a 1.5 engine and moving over to the A3 30TFSI - how are you finding the engine holding up now that you've had it for a while?
Engine is holding up really well , you won't have a problem with it ! I've driven the 35tfsi and its no faster lower down the rev range really, only when you really push it higher up the rev range the 35tfsi is slightly better 👍 what spec did you go for :)
@@jayzaccarini9174 That’s good to hear! Was slightly worried after realising the engine since I do some long motorway journeys - decided to go for the Sportback which looks quite lush with the leather seats etc. Fingers crossed it’ll be good as looks sweet. Awesome review btw, most detailed I’ve been able to find!
Hi mate, just ordered the 2024 Audi a3 S-Line 30 tsfi. I didn’t get asked any extras about the ambient light package. Do you know if it comes as standard for the S-Line models? Or do you need to mention on the order ?
Hi mate! Congrats on your new car hopefully it doesn’t take too long to arrive! I had a brief look at the updated specs for the A3 2023/24 model years and it doesn’t even look like the ambient lighting is currently available as an option. You will get the standard LED interior lighting pack on the S-Line which is good, but looks like Audi have dropped it for whatever reason!
TechJoe The Audi dealership can supply you with an order number - go to the Audi website, owners area, create an account, there should be an option to ‘add car’ with the order number. You can then follow the production process 👍🏽
Hi Jay, Brilliant in depth Video - not many on the 30TFSI out there. Just a bit concerned on the 1 litre engine for overtaking on single carriage ways, getting away form the lights etc. I am looking at getting the S Tronic version. Have you had experience with this? Is it better than the manual for overtaking and motorway driving? Do you miss not having front parking sensors or a rear parking camera - do you think that these would be a good option or not neccessary?
Thanks for the kind words Neil! Not many videos on the new A3. The 1.0ltr engine is brill for round town and occasional motorway use , sometimes a bit frustrating when wanting to overtake and it not having the power you’d like but does the job just fine . I haven’t tried the automatic version so unfortunately can’t comment , I assume it’s probally just as good if not better than the manual. I would recommend going for the comfort and sound pack if you can afford it , gives you the nice things such as heated seats , reverting camera , front and rear sensors and the awesome bang and olufsen sound system 👍 if I could have afforded it I would have added it to mine . Hugely recommend adding the ambient lighting package too Neil. Cheers
Can you suggest me between 8V Audi A3 and BMW X1 . I don’t care about body shape . My priority Is interior design, premium dashboard and one that feels expensive inside so which one would you suggest between these cars?
I would say the 8V A3 , the quality inside is the best in any car in its class or price range. I would find one though with the virtual cockpit otherwise the design can look slightly dated. But overall its better than the X1
How does this handle on the motorway, I’m looking to purchase this engine size but I’ll be doing the occasional motorway journey every month. I use to own a fiesta ecoboost which also was a 3 cylinder turbocharged could you compare?
Hi Tahmid, I've just recently driven to Blackpool from Cumbria in the new Car and it was brilliant. Managed to overtake fine without any fuss , really quiet and is very stable at high speed. Hope this helps?
Jay Zaccarini Nice one, cheers gives me more hope for this little engine as I was a bit skeptical if you had to push this really hard to get performance out of it.
Hi mate, What pack / add ons have you got? I have just ordered one and trying to think if the lighting inside will be the same? also is it push start button or enter the key? Looks nice though
Hi mate! I had the following options on top of the standard s-line spec. - flat bottomed steering wheel - metallic glacier white paint - ambient lighting package - rock grey interior (no cost option) Cheers
@@priyeshgohil8489 is it to late to add it mate?? If your build week isn't confirmed you can still add it. Also forgot to mention its a push button start :)
@@jayzaccarini9174 Hey Jay yeah too late to add its being delivered to my on Monday! I have emailed Audi if they can sort anything out as any extras were not really offered by the lease company but I feel they will charge a crazy labour cost!! oh nice push start! one less job lol
@@priyeshgohil8489 hello mate, did you get in touch with Audi about retro fitting the ambient light? I forgot to add it as an extra and I’m gutted. Hoping Audi can add it later
I'm pissed that there's no release date for the new a3 here in Canada. they say sometime in 2021 and some say 2022. I really hope it comes out in the 1st quarter of 2021. I can't wait to get it
Nice video Jay. I'm going through the process of ordering an S-Line on the Audi site. Can you confirm the interior colour option - you say this one is in Rock Grey but on the website it looks like this is actually Slate Grey . No offence, but I prefer the darker (black) seats and I am not near a dealer to check in person. Thanks.
Thanks ! These are definitely the rock grey seats , I have some pics of them i can send over if any good? I liked the grey and it lifted the cabin up a bit wit the rest of the interior being quite dark. But it’s all down the personal choice and the black seats do look good! :)
@@jayzaccarini9174 Wow, thanks for the quick reply dude. Looking at the configurator it looks like the Rock Grey option is black with grey stitching, but the Steel grey looks lighter like in this video. I'm glad I didn't order yet as the seats look like they might crease easily under a heavier load, and I am a heavier load! Ha ha. I'm now looking at the Edition model which has alcantara seats - but more costly! 1st world decisions! Take care.
Hi mate! You get the standard LED interior lighting pack which includes white lighting under door cards, phone box and few other bits. You have to go for the Ambient light pack to get multi coloured lighting across the dashboard. Hope that helps!
The drive is refined and very comfortable. Steering is predictable and light. Its faster than my old A1 by nearly a second but is much punchier lower down the rev range.
hey my friend! I am going to buy it but I am worried about the 1.0 engine with 115hp.do you feel that his speed on the road is satisfactory or that you have to go out and push it?hahaha i am joke. Τhe design of both inside and outside is the best in the category and has won me over
You get the basic LED interior lighting pack , but that doesn’t include lighting across the dashboard or in the inlays along the doors. Only with the extended one you get that mate .
@@jayzaccarini9174 I did think that mate, I've got the 30TFSI on order due June...long lol! I have the comfort and sound pack but not the LED pack, not too fussed about the under lights, just a little bit of light! Even just the strip lights across the door card 🤷🏻♂️

@@jayzaccarini9174 I am just worried that you believe paying monthly payments for a car is the same as to have a mobile phone on a monthly deal. It is a great sum of money, you have to agree?
IwillBwaiting PCP’s aren’t investments. With a PCP you don’t pay the whole value of the car, you pay monthly for 3/4 years and then get the option to return the car for a new one, or pay the remaining value of the car in a lump sum to own it. A hire purchase (HP) is where you commit to paying the full amount for the car over a number of months and eventually owning it.
how did you find the suspension? I have slight disability,so do you think I would be better not going for the lowered suspension? Would it be smoother?
The suspension was surprisingly comfy considering it was on 18” alloys and lowered suspension. You can get an s-line and opt for the standard non lowered suspension if you are wanting a more softer set up 👍
