Thank you. I usually do all my maintenance on my cars myself but this was my first european car. I have owned japanese all my life decided to see what the german engineering is all about. But wanted to make sure if there was anything different but couldn't find anything on youtube that shows 2019+ audi Q3. Looks pretty much the same as the japanese counterparts except the new oil drain plug.

Thanks for the video! I’m a tech at a Chevy dealership and we just had one of these come in. Tell me why in the world you should need a special tool for the drain plug, lol, these engineers are getting insane.

I agree its getting odd but imports take the cake for that. Also consider that most DYI'ers and oil jockeys ALWAYS over torqued the threaded ones causing failure and blown engines. Maybe this cam style will prevent that? Talk about odd...Toyota requires a special socket for the oil filter housing! (no substitute with anything else, it doesn't fit) They also require a bleed vent to be removed first to relieve internal pressure - who the H designed that?!
@RileyNA
@RileyNA 3 года назад
@@saltcar I wasn’t aware of the bleed vent, interesting and good to know. I wasted some money on a Toyota socket only to find out it’s too thick to work on some of the vertical style housings. But yeah I don’t get it. More complicated does not equal better. Times sure are changing!

Great video! One minor note -- refill capacity with the filter change is six quarts, so be sure to get a bit more than the five quart jug! :)

Nice video very informative. Please be aware of Audis OW-20 “VW 508.00 spec” Ensure you have that “VW 508.00 spec” on the back of the oil container. Even if you have all documentation and changed at proper intervals and use a OW-20 oil without the “VW 508.00 spec” and have a engine issue, Audi will make their case that you used the wrong oil. Just Sayin, I had this through conversation with the service department when they couldn’t get me in for like 2-3 weeks for an oil change. Had to do it myself and it was super easy with the filter up top. Only oil I found locally on the shel with the VW 508.00 spec was Mobil 1 with the green label or green cap but verify the spec on back. Good luck to all.

FCP Euro has a nice oil change kit. And believe it or not their lifetime warranty applies to all fluids - you can send used oil back and they credit you!

Appreciate your video , I have a 2020 Audi Q5 , do you know if this applies to the q5?

Thank you for posting this video. This will help me save money by not having to pay for a Audi Care plan ($800). The Audi dealership said if I do decide to change the oil myself that I would have to take it in anyway for them to reset the notifications ($20). I assume with your instructions at the end this is how it is done?
@fiveyorks
@fiveyorks 3 года назад
Yes you should be able to reset it. I did it no problem! I have a Porsche and only the dealer can reset it or you can buy a $500 tool to do it :(

Looks pretty straightforward to work on. How is it holding up?
@fiveyorks
@fiveyorks Год назад
Yep, very straight forward! We have a Fiat and have to disassemble half the air intake system to get to the oil filter! Q3 is doing well, with exception that the clock is wrong and we took it in once already. Have to take it back.

Great video! 2 questions: What kind of lift are you using in your home garage? What was the exact oil capacity you filled?
@fiveyorks
@fiveyorks 3 года назад
It’s a Max Jax lift. Had it for 5 years and still going strong. I do not know exactly how much oil I put in. I typically measure how much comes out but for some reason didn’t. I’m pretty sure it was more than 5 quarts by a little bit, which filled it to top of the stick indicator. If you are buying quarts, buy six to be sure. You can always use the extra next time.

Thanks. So no more Crush Washers? What's this O-Ring? Does it come with the Filter or purchased separately? Great to see I don't have to deal with covers underneath the vehicle. Changing my 2020 next week. Using Amsoil.
@fiveyorks
@fiveyorks 3 года назад
Sorry for the late reply, but yes there are no more crush washers at least on this Audi! I’ve seen a few places that sell new drain plugs with an oil filter, some do some don’t. They’re cheap so I suppose it’s not a big deal to replace them, but I suspect one will last quite a long time.
@aresjucius3471
@aresjucius3471 21 день назад
Most of of the sources say fill it with 5.7L (6.0 qt), would it be enough a 5 Liter bottle alone? Cause you filled with 5qt. Thank you
@fiveyorks
@fiveyorks 21 день назад
@@aresjucius3471 I’d say no. Less oil means it will get hotter and break down sooner. Your engine would like a bit “too much” oil rather than a bit less than asked for. An extra 0.3 L is inconsequential in terms of any negative overfill effect, especially after a couple thousand miles…

Thank you for the video, oil change on this suv looks so easy. I leased an 2020 Audi Q3, do you know if you can change your own oil on a lease car?

@@fiveyorks You literally posted the only 2020 Q3 oil change video on youtube today just when I needed an oil change on my Q3 haha. I would rather change my own oil because your video made it look so easy, thanks again, awesome red color by the way.

How do you remove the oil dip stick to check the oil level? There seems to be two tabs that locks the yellow dip stick onto the tube. Worried about breaking the tabs if I try to pry them off

watch for 2 flats located on the mounting side(not on the plug) 180deg opposite of each other. Make sure the 2 tabs are aligned and overlapped with the flats. then pull

Its fake. The filler neck for oil isnt in that location, its more central in the engine bay.
