1 Year Review of my 2020 Camaro SS 1le with 11k Miles. Everything that went wrong. Was it worth buying? Dive into 1le life. #camaross1le #1le #camaross #Reliability Performance Borla Atak Exhaust flybys Full Acceleration
I've been wrestling with that question for a couple decades, ultimately it's gotta be your decision. Sorry I really don't know, sometimes I used to teeter right on the edge at times and then other times it was already out of warranty and then you know...
I’ve got a 19 2ss1le in summit white with 7300 miles. I bought the GM plat. extended warranty when I bought it because straight direct injection sucks. Only problem I’ve had so far is terrible alignment from the factory that killed the outside of tires. I’ve got that fixed and it’s great.
The prices of SS 1LE are creeping up as I am typing this I purchased my 1LE for $29k with 9kmiles on it a year ago and right now you cannot find a 6G 1LE for under $32k.
Finally got my hands on one of these and was blown away, I have owned nothing but challengers (hellcat recently) and loved the feel of this car. The steering was very impressive, the feedback through the steering wheel was incredible! cool video man, keep it going!
I've got the exact same car, down to the colour and i couldn't have said it better myself. great video and great review! I loved hearing your fly bys, it's not too often you get to hear your own car and after a year of owning it I still can't get over how good this car sounds from the factory. Subbed!
Thanks for the sub man and all the positive comments. I love hearing my car when I make videos because I never do otherwise 😂 great taste in cars btw 💪
Getting ready to get my 2021 2SS 1le in either orange or the new ruby. Thank you for this GREAT VIDEO. you helped make up my mind on the manual and overall purchase of this beast. Thanks for the honesty.
Awesome video! Great review. The car sounds amazing! My car does rattle a bit on the dash. Not sure what’s up with that, but something I need to look into. Really Liked the bit about the track. That’s a really good perspective. I should track my car next summer.
Totally agree with everything you said. I love my 2020 1le. I envy you basically being able to drive yours year round. I usually love winter in Vermont but I can’t wait to get the 1le back on the road this spring/summer. No canyon roads here. They look fun. We have a few twisty ones and it tears them up.
Congrats on your 1le man! I am lucky I get to drive it all year no problem. At least it will feel amazing when you get back in it. Appreciate the view man
Sweet, Sweet Ride. I've been contemplating which performance-oriented Camaro I want, and I've been leaning heavily toward an SS. Your video is pushing me towards 1LE for all the reasons I love performance driving--- in the twisties and back roads. G's, baby! My only hesitation because I live in the midwest where the roads can be pretty bad in places and the 1LE can just be harsh on such roads... BUT, that said, I may do it anyway.
As an almost lifelong Mustang fan.. I've really grown to like the 6th gen Camaro.. even considering picking up a used one Lol. Kind of hard to find what I'm looking for at a reasonable price tho.. yours sounds amazing and your driving videos are cool, enjoy the content.
Ya the prices are tough right now just better off going new and ordering. They always cost more than the mustang but well worth it imo. Thanks for the support btw 💪
Hey congrats on your new car man! That's ok no shame man the autos are wild beasts. Enjoy it to the fullest, if you ever make it to socal with it come drive with me. Thank you for the sub!
I like you man...I just have a 16' 2SS with the 6 speed, not a 1LE but I tend to agree with everything you said. These cars with the 6 speed manual shine in the turns and take driver skill.
Awesome videos and channel man I’m looking into purchasing a SS 1LE, been thinking about it for a while now and it’s seems like the better car over Hemi and the 5.0. Plus you can’t go wrong with a Super Sport
Really really enjoyed your video! And I just subscribed to your channel too. I have a c7 stingray z51 with a manual transmission and basically it's my weekend canyon toy! I look forward to watching your videos! 😃
@@Tusuperbis Yes, I actually didn't get the Riverside blue that I was about to put a deposit on and was getting delivered 2/25.. I ended up getting a Summit White from the same dealership on Feb 12th!! 1SS 1LE MANUAL, PDR.. I have 460 miles on it and love it.. Actually today, I put in the kit with a switch to use the ventilated seats from 5th gen DIY... they are great now too!! About to do the oil change and then I can actually rev this thing up a little more.. I was told to not go above 4k rpm until first oil change
Great video. I’m going to school for an electrical lineman apprentice at the moment. When I get a real job and actually start making money I plan to get this exact car. My dream is gonna be reality :)
@@Hot-1LE thanks for the reply yea I had to order it came straight off the line from Michigan. I got a borla exhaust on it and just ordered a pulley kit, kooks headers and a rotofab big gulp and getting it tuned. Hate voiding the warranty on it but I got faith this car built tough and it'll be 👌
Very, very, very well said. Excellent points about the 1LE and the ownership. Fantastic car that I absolutely love as my daily, on canyons and truly love on the track. Great video!
3 weeks ago I almost bought a gr corolla. My wife and I last minute went to test drive the new s650 mustangs because I couldn't get away from wanting another v8. We were sitting at the light across from the dealership and I could see a 22 SS 1le in rapid blue on their lot. Fast forward it was a single owner 12,000 miles and the guys wife wanted a new bronco. Thank God she wanted a new bronco. We drove both cars and there was a clear winner for me. I've had the 1le for a few weeks and everytime I have to go somewhere I can't wait. Not to get where I'm going but to just hop in the car. Just a side not, my wife said that I vert rarely get gitty with anything. But she said I was smiling from ear to ear the while time. The first time I down shifted rev matched in sport mode with the valves opening I was laughing so hard at the ridiculous popps and burbles. It's truly a blast to drive.
Awesome story! You found a jewel man. Hard to find car. Congrats. Camaros are very rewarding to drive. I feel the same way every time i get to drive it
You convinced me. After many hours of research. I just ordered my Shock 21 SS 1LE today! I did decide to go for Auto as much as I love a the Manual. Reason was I wanted more consistent times 0 to 60. Plus my daily driver is a Manual.
Amen brother, you nailed all the things that make this car such a joy. Especially the point about the buyer demographic. BTW, your car sounds freaking insane. Like way louder than I remember in the last video. Crazy that an uncorked factory motor can sound this good. Great video work too!
Appreciate that so much man! I didn't realize how loud it was until I watched these clips 😅 people been telling me it's loud but I never believed it 😅. Chevy did so good with our cars.
Hey brother just saw this video. All I can say is DITTO!!! I've had 2020 2ss manual trans for about 14 months and its lots of fun. I would also buy this car again. Not ONE problem.
I have a 2023 LT1 manual I ordered last summer. Best car I've ever owned and I've owned many. I'll never get rid of it. I'll just keep popping engines in it as long as gasoline is available.
Nice review, I’m looking to buy here in the next few months and I can’t decide on weather to get a new 2SS 1LE or find a “ barely” touched used zl1. When it comes time to buy I guess it will come down to what’s available.
Go drive them both if you can but your right it's hard to find them. Auto zl1 will be the easier to find out of the manuals of either car. Either way you can't go wrong
Oh it has to be a manual! And yes that narrows my search by a lot. Only like 10% of the cars I’ve looked at here in texas from what I’ve seen have seen.
I 100% agree.. take your car to the track folks it's a BLAST! It doesn't even matter what it is as long as it's mechanically sound. Most tracks have FATT (FRIDAY AT THE TRACK) OR high performance track days. You will get an instructor to sit with you to help you get the most out of you and your car. It's just an internet search away.. you will need a up to date helmet (see your local track rules). I enjoy running at those events AND I am also an instructor at 2 of my "local" tracks. With a large racing background (SCCA ROAD racing/license, Rally Sprints and rallycross .... you can see me in one of my rally cars as my profilepicture) I highly recommend enjoying your car to the fullest. At the time I'm writing this at my local tracks it's about $275-$350 for all day. Feel free to ask questions here... 😁👍
Long story short get a 2ss if it's more of a daily and you don't plan to track it. But if your about the back roads, tracks and the best handling you can get the definitely get a 1le. Personally a 2ss 1le is a perfect car.
Appreciate the quick reply! Unfortunately I seen you sold the maro!! Sorry to see you had so many issues and GM wasn’t helpful. Would love to see more content!!
Absolutely man. And thank you! Ya it sucks. But it worked out for what I needed in life right this moment. I got something coming on the way that will build on what you see here. Just a little longer 🙂
Just traded up from a 21 LT1 to a 21 1SS 1LE, the car I wanted in the first place. Good watch considering I haven't even got my car yet. On delivery from Detroit and I'm in OK.
@@dbgkaco To be frank, it's the most bullet-proof option for the Camaro. I got mine *brand new* for $33,700, got a diffuser, exhaust and a splitter for a total of about $3000 in parts, and the car was set-up to be driven as hard as you wanted to drive it without worrying about jack-shit. Had an AWE Track Edition axle-back that was basically a gunshot tune with the factory tune. Just wanted something meaner and better at turning so I got the 1LE. LT1 comes with 8.5" inch rears instead of 11" inch rears, on some Goodyear all-season tires. Rear end is very happy with that V8 in the LT1 - has same exact drivetrain. I'd recommend it if you want cheap power, good for roll races, don't even try to do dig races until upgraded wheels and tires.
I have a 2018 2ss 1LE and the check engine lights started flashing for a few seconds then it dissapoeared. Now im hearing a ticking noise coming from the engine bay. Any idea what it could be and has this happened to you? thanks.
Suspension is perfect for daily and track since it has magride the car def has more personalities and capabilities to do both very well. Road noise isn't bad. It's a little.noisier than your standard luxury car but still quieter than a Subaru WRX.
I just bought my 2021 2SS manual transmission 1 week ago because of watching your videos a few weeks ago. Other wise I could have ended up with an orange M4
@@Hot-1LE I love it. Been driving manual my entire life with lancer, lexus, honda, a bunch of manual BMW. I was in the market for manual M4 as an upgrade but after your videos. Fuxk it i get the 2SS Manual camaro without test drive. You already done that for me. Thanks for your chanel. I just barely put 148 miles on it. Love it so far. No regret.
That's awesome man! I've had a handful of manuals myself and I wouldn't have it any other way. Thanks for the huge compliment btw. My whole goal is to expose this car for what it is, I'm so stoked to hear I could help with that. Once she breaks in give it some good punches you won't stop smiling. Also suggest doing your diff fluid for easy piece of mind. Man huge congrats I know that feeling!
Awesome definately worth the wait. Have a friend with the riverside blue 1le and it's beautiful. Black isnt flashy and blends in traffic but a pita to take care of. Haha best of luck in your purchase
Haha appreciate it man. Manual isn't all that hard you could have it down in like 24 hours tops. But the new 10 speed are very good. If it's me manual. But either way it's good
1le will be no problem at all. I daily it with my dog lol. Tires might get expensive. Brakes are slightly more expensive. But overall it's not that huge of a difference aside from suspension
I bought a 19 GT premium, if I had it to do over I would have gotten a 2SS Camaro. I haven’t had any motor issues but the 10 speed transmission shifts bad too often. Been reprogrammed several times. I like Mustang’s better, but I do agree the LS/GM are more dependable
@@Hot-1LE it’s not a major issue, I’ve had the 10 speed reset twice at the dealership. Sometimes it’s fine, other times when it shifts it feels like someone grabbed the bumper and tugged on it if that makes sense. I tried to get it replaced but they claim it’s normal, it’s not. Outside of the trans I’ve had no issues other then the little lights in the mirrors that project the horse on the ground when you open the door, both side replaced twice. Zero motor issues. I wanted a manual but my wife told me don’t come home if I don’t get a auto, I learn why pretty quick, she took it after about two months lol. I got a 2020 Silverado 4x4 now lol. The trans only really acts when when you get on it, normal driving it shifts fine 90% of the time.
Does the SS 1LE only sing like that because it's a manual and holds the gearing? Or, will the A10 do it? I know the Mustang with the A10 will hold the gears in Sport mode. Wondering if it's the same for the SS? And what about the ZL1?
I think a lot of it is the length of the gearing in the manual it's such long gears and then you don't get the growl between gear shifts the same in the auto. No doubt the auto sounds good has its own enjoyability but I always enjoyed the more organic shifting notes of a manual. The autos will hold the gear when using the paddles in the Camaros for sure
Camaros in general are VERY good quality. I have a 2010 2ss and I LOVE it. Compared to the 2010 v8 mustangs, theses cars are MILES ahead of anything Ford puts out including their GT500. When you buy a mustang you're buying the engine and alot of plastic. When you buy a Camaro you're buying quality and performance.
I seen those videos on tail of the dragon, I'd totally hit that. Haven't heard of the other but I'll check them out. I definately want to travel and hit canyons through the US. Maybe do all of valid first and expand. Appreciate the idea man.
I’m looking for a 21 Camaro. But is there a huge difference with getting 1ss vs 2ss or just go for best deal and lowest miles? Looking within next few weeks so any input would be great. Awesome video also!!!!
1ss vs 2ss (non 1le) there is quite a bit difference interior wise. (Leather, reverse camera mirror, interior lighting, HUD, etc.) If its not a 1le personally id go 2ss as the base interior / stereo / options are kinda lacking. If its a 1le id still say 2ss but the 1ss 1le comes pretty loaded the biggest difference being the stereos and interior lighting so a 1ss 1le is a pretty well optioned out car. Buy what your going to be happy with for a good long time because the camaros and challengers are dying out all there will be left is mustangs at a high price (if you even like them). So you basically got one last chance or buy something well used later on. Gl in your search
I had little pocket rockets that carved up twisties most of my life. The Camaro SS 1LE package can do that, but if you really like that, you should be in a Miata or BRZ/86, because they weigh much less and are much better at it. However, they will never give you the straight line fun you get in V8 Challengers, Camaros, and Mustangs.
Yup your right man. I'm really uncomfortable in those cars since I'm so tall. This is basically the closest I'll get to a Miata haha those cars are nicer on tires too 🥲
Can anyone help with this question of mine? So I’m going to buy a Camaro but what is the best versions of the car, I search it up and it doesn’t really give a straight answer so if anyone can answer that would be nice
Well best version of the Camaro depends on your needs. The zl1 is the top performance, followed by SS1le, then SS, and then the lower engine trims. But all of them are plenty good and offer a lot for the money. Find what you can afford and what you want to do with it and you'll find the right one for ya
I want to get a 1SS can’t despide between manual and automatic, only reason I am considering the automatic is for the DFM to get a bit better MPG, as where I work it’s a 24ish Mile drive there so a 48 mile round trip. Regardless I want to start dumping money into my savings to put down a decent down payment on one of these in 2023 before they’re discontinued in 24. What is your average Highway MPG in your Manual? Long live the American large V8s.
I have a 2021 2ss 1le A10 and i too was undecided what i wanted? I went and test drove the A10 and the rest is history!! I like the fact that you can hit the paddle shifters and shift forever or if you dont feel like shifting manually you dont have to..it shifts quick too!! I love it!!
Good to know, I’ll probably have to test drive both and see what I like more, I’ve always wanted a manual however the A10 has some perks. Glad to know the MPG isn’t to far off from each of Transmissions. Especially given the current gas prices, luckily here in Texas they aren’t to high but higher than they where 2 years ago.
I just bought a 21 and it is stupid fast. The only thing I don't like is when you put your foot in it you always have to let off way too soon cause you are closing in on traffic way too fast. I took a short road trip and got 28 mpg. But you have to behave to get that
Man the Camaro is just better imo. Bigger, faster better power band, better handling etc. The subies have their place and smash in the turns as well. It's to be expected for the price point, the Camaro feels like it's worth more than it's price
@@Hot-1LE same it's tremendous value compared to other cars around 40-45k.. also dealers are giving good deals if you're patient.. I'm about to pick one up myself for 40k 1ss w/1LE :)
😅 I don't like the look either. There is a back seat delete kit that cleans it up and dosnt weigh much I guess that's an option. Or just out some subs there and defeat all the purpose lol
I had many cars before and actually have to say that the SS 1LE is so much better then my 2018 C7 GS Corvette ever was! The 1LE is so much more fun to drive. However, the Visibility out of the Camaro, especially out the right Window when driving is awful!
The 6th gen is dynamically a better car for sure. I do miss my 5th gen though. Something about that car tugged at my heart strings. That said pushing the 6th gen hard through the rolling hills of Tennessee is absolutely amazing!!!
@@donzeropoopsgiven8304 gotcha. I've only driven a 2SS 6th generation, not a 1le and I definitely prefer my 1LE over that. Tennessee has some amazing roads for sure! Love it there. I'm in NYS myself, we have some great roads here too...just a limited time to enjoy them due to winter.
@@EngineeringGoneWrong you would love the 6th gen 1LE. Everything about it feels right. The tech is awesome as well compared to the 5th. Winter definitely sucks. I came from Chicago and I really don’t miss the winters.
