@@sixbone No. It felt like a commercial for tirerack and michelin tires. I understand the importance of good tires for the track, but saying "inexpensive" or "bargain" tires are much slower than expensive tires, is not a fair comparison.

i think they don't want to say baf against any other brand and use inexpensive word but they could have used normal tire or regular tire or something else then inexpensive word.

They probably used the same tires. Just did a bs editing and commentary.

Well to be fair I went from a Pilot Super Sport in my ATS-V to the 4S. The 4S was overall the better tire and I was able to consistently pick up a few 10ths at Summit. However where the 4S really made the difference was in cold and wet weather. While I wouldn't exactly say it's a good tire in the rain it definitely isn't butt clenching bad like the Super Sports can be with just a little tread wear. Really driving the Super Sports in any moderate rain is like a suicide mission. Another tire I can compare it to that I think spans the middle is the Firestone Indy 500. Must better in the rain than either tire, but slower at the track by almost a second.

This being a paid advertisement makes the data suspect and worthless.

Yes. I'd like to see a comparison of expensive Michelin track tires with cheaper track tires from Kumho or Toyo. I always get sticker shock with Michelins and go for the cheaper tires. I doubt the Michelins are much faster, if at all. I've had a lot of fun on Toyo R888's.

@@andyharman3022 Nankang AR-1(100 treadweear) tires are avialable in the C8 stock sizes, have more grip, and are slower to heat cycle out than the R888R(100 treadwear), but the R888R tire has a more gradual release of traction around corners. The Nankang AR-1 might have to be ordered in from a non local dealer in the US.

Re-71’s are an autocross tire, they like to overheat on track driving.

@@doubled8247 this video is about a singe lap time and how these tires are better for setting a single lap. RE71s or any autox tire, you pick the brand, will run several laps before they overheat. Even a Hoosier A6/A7 can run multiple laps before getting greasy. This is a paid promotion. Notice the black and white text stating it.

Honestly love the car but it's hard to un-see. The tip of the emblem actually aligns well with the crown line, it's the stripes that are off. They were applied too far toward the passenger side. 🤦‍♂️

Where are you getting your information from? I'm looking at the Big Willow leader board lap times from a previous video right now. 570s: 1.27.21, AMG GTS: 1:28.12. Ford GT350R 1:28.29. All faster than the C8 on the 4s tires, never mind the budget tires. Even the Camaro SS 1LE posted a faster lap time than the C8 at 1:28.29. I'm not knocking the C8. I think it's an awesome car. But 1:28.48 is not a great time. Seems like it should be able to do much better.

@@nigel_white I am only taking motor trends past lap times. Not all. You are right I was just saying that with randy behind the wheel the C8 lapped really well. And this is Laguna Seca not Big willow

@@Marcello2005 I don't follow you. You said that the C8 beats all those other cars even with the C8 on bad tires. But looking Motor Trend past lap data set by Randy Pobst, at Big Willow, where the video was filmed (this is not Laguna Seca), the C8 is slower than all of those cars I listed that I could find from your list. Seems to me like something is off with the C8 lap times.

OEM's can if they want to, have front and rear specific tires being mid engined, tire compound/tread depth(widebody C7 corvettes), wider like the 305/30r20's(on 20×12's and 315 in width but 305/30r20 in diameter) on the 991.2 Porsche GT3 or narrower on the 305/30r19's(front 19×10.5 rear 19x11 and 295 in width but 305/30r19 in diameter) 2018+ Mustang GT PP2.
