Thanks for your videos! Your improvement looks and sounds amazing. I just got my first doses of Dupixent last week, can't believe something like this is finally here after suffering with eczema for my whole life. The final straw was a bacterial infection throughout my whole face because of an eczema break out. I hope for the best for you, thanks again for talking about your journey.

Hey RadRicky! Glad you're on your journey to healing! Yeah, i had horrible infections from 2002-2009ish. My doctors got me on antibiotics for several months until the infections cleared. The problem was previous doctors only followed the antibiotic guidelines for normal use so I never used it long enough to have it be effective. Keep me posted on how you do with Dupixent.

Thanks for the support! A lot of doctors haven’t heard about it either. Using micro doses of naltrexone is not profitable for drug companies to make, so they don’t promote it much.

How did you get your doctor to try Naltrexone? I am really struggling with low mood, low motivation and lack of focus to get things done while on dupixent. My doctor suggested medication for adhd to deal with my symptoms. Your thoughts?

It's good to hear that for you 2020 has been helpful and positive! I had a severe atopic dermatitis for 7 up until 2020, I lived a year in Antarctica during 2020 and I fully cleared up. It was a huge relief, since I hot back to the real world, my body is fully covered. Doctors want me to give a try to ciclosporine (here in France, we cannot have ciclo more than 6 to 12 months for eczema), it also mandatory to try ciclo of you want to try dupixent, else you can't get dupixent. I'm a bit scared to start ciclo but my life is getting worse, psychologically, I'm getting extremely sad and negative because of my condition. You vids helps me taking my decision to give a try to ciclo, I'm just afraid of a rebound effect when I will have to stop (in about 6 to 12 months), do you know if a huge rebound effect exist? What did you experience? Also, is sport possible under ciclosporine?
@JeffreyLin
@JeffreyLin 3 года назад
Hi Celas, sorry to hear your condition is getting worse again. It is psychologically hard to go backwards after having a clear year in Antarctica. I am still on cyclosporine and Dupixent. Dupixent has healed my skin but I still need cyclosporine for asthma and allergies. Since cyclosporine is a dangerous medication, I suggest using the minimal dose that you can. Yes, your skin might get worse after stopping cyclosporine. Hopefully you’ll have gotten approval for Dupixent by that time. Yes, you can do sports with cyclosporine. The main side effects I feel are slight fatigue and sometimes my mood is not great (but still better than having full body dermatitis!). Hope this helps

I am glad that you are getting better! Could you tell us a little bit about the food you can eat before? Can you eat wheat? What is your IGe level? Thank you!
@JeffreyLin
@JeffreyLin 3 года назад
Hey, good question! My IgE level used to be about 23,000 (but since IgE measurements aren’t very accurate above 2000...my 23,000 IgE could be even higher). I’m literally allergic to everything on the planet, so there’s no safe foods. I was on the Elecare (infant) diet for over a year and still had flareups so I needed cyclosporine Immunosuppresants. My lowest IgE foods are beef, potato, and blueberries (but still need medication to tolerate these)
@haiyanwang2651
@haiyanwang2651 3 года назад
@@JeffreyLin Thank you so much for sharing your journey. My daughter has similar, though slightly less severe, allergies. I am quite frustrated. My daughter's IGE is quite high too (~5000). However, when she eats most foods (except the very high IGE foods) she has no immediate reaction. I am unsure whether the food allergies could be related to eczema, however. When you say that you have issues eating the foods, do you mean that you have an immediate/digestive system reaction, or are there issues with your skin correlating to the food allergies. Also, do you avoid foods that are high IGE but can be eaten with no immediate reaction?

Glad to hear you're doing well! Being on dupixent, how have you dealt with the side effects to your eyes? I'm currently using Alaway OTC day to day and when it really gets bad, I start using Tobradex. I'm hesitant to use tobradex as you shouldn't use it long term, but it's the only thing that seems to work when it gets worse.
@minhaj9802

flurometholone works for me. 2-3 drops a day until clearance but it reoccurs shortly after.
@JeffreyLin
@JeffreyLin 3 года назад
Thanks! for eyes, I just had to reduce my dupixent dose so I have injections once every 6-8 weeks. When I get occasional eye irritations, the ointment Neomycin works for me. But since it's a steroid, don't use it more than a few days. Other immunosuppressive eyedrops like Restasis works for some people.
@alexnutcasio936
@alexnutcasio936 3 года назад
Jeff, great stuff and thanks for the update. Are you seeing any long term side effect(s) from Dupixent or are you aware of any? Not much written on it as its a relatively new drug. (other than the eye issues some have had??)
@JeffreyLin
@JeffreyLin 3 года назад
Long term, I just get better and better as mentioned in this video. For most people, the eye issue is a phase that people get over. It's mostly your body still reacting to eczema even after dupixent clears up your eczema, but your body hasn't caught up to that fact. Some people get over the eye issue in a few weeks or a few months. It's taken longer for me, which is why I take a lower dose by doing injections 6-weeks apart. For the first 2 years, I would also get 1-2 days of fatigue after each injection, but it's a healing type of fatigue like after exercising a lot.

Hows you're eyes? I had to start dupilumab cause everything else I have tried failed with the exception of cyclosporine, methotrexate and dupilumab. Aza failed for me, doctor recommended dupilumab due to efficacy and safety and also no blood work. But now I am having eye side effects 2 months in. Alaway once a day and flurometholone twice -three times a day seems to work very well but conjunctivitis comes back after 3-4 days not putting on it. Flurometholone is weaker then tobradex but still can't stay on it for long. Any idea of new treatments? Abrocitnib?
@JeffreyLin
@JeffreyLin 3 года назад
Hey Minhaj, the eye issue with Dupilumab is usually a phase. The body's immune is still overreacting to your eczema even though Dupilumab has probably cleared up a lot of the eczema. If the eyedrops or eye ointments aren't helping, I suggest reducing your Dupilumab dose by doing injections every 3 or 4 weeks. If that doesn't help, do injections ever 5-6 weeks. I do injections ever 6 weeks. I still get eye irritation if I do injections every 4 or 3 weeks, but the eye irritation is not as bad as it was when I first started Dupilumab. There are some newer versions of Dupilumab in testing. Those may be available in 2-3 years.
@modusbee9092

@JeffreyLin Do you have any more suggestions for eyes? I have three eye doctors trying to get my eyes under control with various eye drops. I am really struggling with the financial cost of so many eye different eye drops. I've been on dupixent for 5 years and my eyes keep getting worse. Reducing my dupixent to every 5 week causes body flare-ups and only helps my eyes a little bit.
