That busted button happened to me in '09/10. It was a larger Republic of Hawaii National Guard from about 1895 I at 'Iwilei dump, before the Lowe's was put up. It had been the Unocal tank farm for filling oil powered ships, as coal was phased out. On a 1904 transit map it reads "Dumping ground ".
When that button broke,and you sucked the breath in. You inhaled air when that button was made. I can’t imagine smelling history. You guys have held my real history than most who have worked at a museum, best of all you found it. You guys are awesome.

As always, great video! A single 3-ringer would be the find of a lifetime in my eyes. The thumbnail was kind of misleading. I saw a pistol and jumped on the video because I saw the words "civil war."
I love digging civil war relics. One site I go to has produced almost 50 bullets and about 10 different varieties. It never gets old no matter how many you dig! Can’t wait till next weeks vid!

"I've never found one before .." you really got to wonder what in the world it could be ... since we know it can't be a GW, Seated Quarter or Dime, Flowing Hair, Fugio, Chain Cent, oh yeah ....... Hunting the woods down here in Florida after Hurricane Michael has not been fun at all. No need to have a membership at a gym. Just go hunt in the woods for a couple hours. Will snap you into shape in quickly. Thanks for the videos. Congrats to John on the 3 ringer

My computer decided to die and I had to start all over again. But Bobby always forgets to read the memo on the flavor of finds. But love those buttons. I am so glad you guys are able to get in those woods. I know the spot here were we had our Skirmish in our little town outside of Savannah, the woods are a mess. Water and storm damage piled up. But I will get in there.

I wish i had that problem! Lol I have years of footage and no time to organize them! A little at a time! Anyway, I think it is great that you showed you breaking that button. Not too many people would do that, but its real and its not boring! It shows your not afraid to be real. However it does suck it broke, but you did find more after that so it's ok! Great Vidayoo as usual. Its always fun seeing someone get a 1st of anything.

Glad I got to see this video. I'm usually a year or more behind you gents. Hoover Boys is the first detecting video I stumbled across a couple months ago, and my "Go To" site for entertainment and information. I've checked out several other sites/channels and have added some of your extended family of hunters to my favorites....Depths of History, History Preserved, and others... As many different channels as I've watched...none can hold a candle to yours. I'm a bit of a history buff, living in the woods of central Maine, literally, and I use your channel as a main source of entertainment. Thanks for the great job you do with all aspects of what you do!

I have to ask, are you a firefighter, I saw an American flag with a red center stripe in it that honors FF's. I just retired from the Jacksonville Fire/Rescue Dept on 12/27/19 after 25yrs. I love finding history also, once it's gone, it's gone forever. I really enjoy watching the excitement and fun you guys have when ya "get a hit' and find that amazing piece of history. Would love to detect with ya'll one day, that's how we say it in the south LOL. Great piece, keep up the great work.

Up here in Newfoundland we just had the biggest blizzard in our recorded history, might be July before the snow is gone this year lol, google if if you want to some some epic storm footage.
I would LOVE to do this but alas I don't live in the area and I am an older lady who can no longer dig. But it is fun to watch you vicariously digging up these awesome relics. Where do you think this New York contingent was headed for, or what battlefield is nearby that they probably took part in? You wonder how long they were encamped in a place like this in order to lose so many buttons and drop bullets. Do you ever find half-decayed fabrics like uniform pieces or leather items such as belt or horse halters or reins? Or would those have rotted away? My grandfather who died decades ago told us a story that he was in Gettysburg in the 1930s for some sort of conference or meeting. It had rained heavily the night before and in the morning he walked out into a recently plowed field and found bullets just revealed for him to pick up. He showed us about eight of them that he found without even digging at all. He kept them in a secret compartment in his old roll top desk. From that day I heard that story I wanted to dig up relics too. I was a middle schooler during the Civil War centennial and my parents took us on a summer trip to visit many of the Civil War battlefields in VA. We lived an hour from Gettysburg so I have visited there a number of times, but having lived in FL now for 30 years I no longer have good access to the battlefields which I so enjoyed seeing. If you get kids interested in history by going to those places when they are kids it can create a lifelong love of history, which is such a joy and pleasure. Thanks so much for this fun and informative video!
Great episode, you guys sure have a sweet relic spot there! Bobby cracked me up with his alien theory. When your button broke I felt your pain, I felt the same when I found a beautiful Native American point on a beach here in Ohio. As I was picking it up to get a closer look at it, it slipped out of my hand hitting the gravel and snapped neatly in half! After laying on that beach for thousands of years here I come bumbling along and snapped it in half, uhg!
