I have another video on making your planner work for you that might be helpful to you in the meantime. My process is a little bit of both; if I see something I like I’ll usually research ways in which other people have used that insert and then incorporate or adapt what best suits me and my needs. When I identify a need prior to seeing the insert I’ll try to think of the simplest way I can meet it, often by adapting or adding it to another insert I already have in use. I might draft all the information I need and then search for an insert that fits the image in my head. I’m a big proponent of making your planner reflect your natural thought process and way of organizing things rather than trying to fit yourself into a planner system. Personally I have one portable planner that fits all my regular planning, and one that sits at home and stores things like passwords, recipes, addresses, medical info etc. That second planner stores information for easy reference but I don’t do any regular planing in it because I know that I can’t upkeep more than one at a time.

Seth Eastman I think disc and ring systems are functionally similar and I definitely see the appeal of a disc bound!
