When your fishing the last few feet above to the radio... Fish the end through the hole in the middle... Then you'll be able reach in with your fingers to push it into the channel. Saved a lot of time.
I went thru 2 of these antenna mount...you be lucky to get a year before those mount beak...they only work with small fiber glass antenna only,monkey made predator ,wilson,k40...any medium to coil antenna will break this mount....i now use a big oversize perch over the passenger door...so far pushing 2 years and its still new...i even use a bird perch o. The same holes on the door and a couple of month they snap clear off....only the perch with back plate over passengers door side is the best...good luck
@@thenotoriousrvh6091 I have a Connex 3300HP with all the bells & whistles in a 2021 Cascadia & with the stock coax & ant I barely get out 3 miles @ best. I have a Willson coax & 10k predator. I only need the coax run. Everything else is done.
Nice good sounding radio. I was giving my experience. Then again it could be more of an issue with the lack of drivers running radios anymore much less bigger ones.

Great ant but not the greatest choice for a plascadia,the ant stud is also the worst of the worst to....Behind the plastic piller cover just above light switch there is a rubber grommet,that leads out to firewall behind the plastic cover that houses signal light and has the word cascadia on it..You could avoid goin over the wire harness on the firewall and around the steering column on the inside..A pl259 will fit up through the upper section where you routed your coax..With that big radio up there,its not real secure or any good for air flow plus a big radio like that will kink the coax at a 90 degree when connected to radio.. I did some install vids on my set up as well. ..Coax you used,not a fan of those connecters you used either.. Clean install though..
It's not for the faint of heart. My former life I was a professional car audio installer. If you dash mount you'll have to double stick the radio bracket. The air vent mounts run under the tray might not want to screw thru them. Run the power wires straight back to the defroster vent. Remove the A pillars and the defroster vents will pop up & off. You can then fish the wires into the fuse box area. I'm all about trying to hide wires as much as possible.
Dumb question but do you need that 1/4 inch flex alum or any type of wire cover, I’m sure you do because the cable will be in the engine fpr a portion but will there be a hazard of not done?
The coax insulation is pretty darn resilient, not really necessary if you route away from high heat areas. Look how many uninsulated airlines run through the engine compartment.
A little late night RVH👍a lot of my friends use predator 10ks I just use a Francis 4' whip there used to be a guy here in OKC that sold predator copies called strikers he would fight with everyone ob the radio 🤣🤣
I don't blame you. Idk why I bought this thing, the whip is like a wet noodle. I've tried a bunch of different ones. They are all about the same. Making sure SWR's are right is much mire important than being fancy.
I'm having a problem with my cb. I've been running it and it's been working but about a month ago I started getting the antenna light coming on when I transmit. I bought a new coax cable and that didn't work, bought a new antenna and still the same issue. I know the swr om the radios aren't as accurate but it says I have a low reading at 1.5 tried adjusting it and no work. When the truck is off I can transmit but when I talk the ant light comes on. But when truck is on you transmit and the light comes on. Idk what is happening maybe someone can shed some light.
what up driver i like your install its coming along good to i got the same truck for driffrent company i got to go buy a new good Radio and And that bracket you have i want 2 of them on mines i always Ran daul anntennas on my truck for a company driver and i no as soon as you start working on your truck you will get a noisey driver comes park right next to you and watch you the hole time and when you get Ready to leave out and they want to leave out first in front of you yeah be safe out watch yourself ok this world is crazy now u no be safe later
The stock coax is connected to a "Dipole" wire antenna in the roof. There is very little to no performance gain by changing the antenna. Dipoles work great, just don't handle a much power. So unless you plan on running a 1000 watt linear just use the stock coax and antenna.

They do. In the video I stated it wasn't worth doing. Most CB shops, or "experts" will tell you factory antennas and cables can't handle high powered radios but they are wrong. I didn't notice any increase of range.
Because it's hit or miss. Current truck (2024) wants to burn my radio up. Last truck (2020) was just fine. Truck before that, (2017) I had to run my own antenna.
Antenna ground ? I do plan on running a bigger power and ground to the fuse box power junction. The antennae grounds to the radio. I have run a ground from the mount to chassis before and it didn't do anything.
I learned a long time ago it's not about the company but how you and your dispatcher work & get along together individually. I can say I have it pretty damn good.
@@thenotoriousrvh6091 I started with a mega carrier and got my own truck after a year, mega carriers are trash, slow governed trucks, cameras facing in and out, that lane sensors BS they watch your every move, home time is trash, pay is trash all that big corporate nonsense is for the birds. It's cool to start but that's about it. I worked for a small mom n pop company out of Chicago 6 months prior to getting my own truck. They sent me any place I desired to go, no cameras, no governor, brand new truck with TV and every single tool I needed on the road already in the truck. I could give them 3 days notice if I wanted to go home and if I took home time on the road they would pay for reserved parking and for my hotel. Mega carriers are garbage
@@rockhaller3899 I’m curious now because I know it’s a “grounded mount”. …Because your possibly right, I’d probably run a ground wire to it just to avoid any issues. Probably put some wire wrap around the coax big enough to tuck the ground wire into as well.
The T/A in Wytheville, VA. Pilot and Loves have a better one now for the same price. Look by the CB antenna section the better mount is made by Wilson.
Love your video I have a 2022 cascadia daycab company truck and it has the factory mounted antenna is up on body behind driver door as most of these freightliners are and the coax is thin crap I’m thinking about doing this as well but am already using my galaxy 99 on the dash in the recessed square with Velcro it doesn’t move my antenna is on my slider handle above back window but not getting out far because of trailer I want to try this mount I’m glad I seen the foam on firewall you mentioned I didn’t know how I was going to get my coax through until I seen your video how is your range? I fkng quit ! 😂 my dipole antenna wants to burn my radio up. (My last truck was fine with stock antenna) the truck before that, I ran my own antenna. My question is, WTF did the clowns at FL feel the need to change EVERYTHING !? Even the plastic trim that could have been left alone, now has torx screws holding it down instead of just snapping in place. Oh, and instead of just snapping in, it's now buried under 5 other pieces of trim. Fk it, I just won't run a radio. Not like anything is ever said anymore that's worth a 💩
I mean.. I’m happy to see a trucker running a CB, but, Freightliner makes it impossible for y’all running those trucks to run a CB. Let alone a real CB. By the way, running your antenna(s) like that… at that angle, you’re just pushing your signal out to the pavement 100 yards ahead and 100 yards into space. 🙄 Maybe a little more RF research would be in order?
Why is what facing front ? The antenna ? If so body panels can cause swr's to be high. Facing the antenna slightly angled forward reduces reflections off the body panels reducing swr's which if high will reduce your radios overall usable range. In extreme cases very high swr's can burn a CB's outputs up.
