Probably because cheap cars are attainable, so you can picture yourself driving it. When I’m watching someone drive a B7 ALPINA, its enjoyable- but so far from my personal reality.
I've been watching for about 2 years now, and you never disappoint. Always honest with no bias what so ever, It's why when I don't have the time to go to the dealer to drive something, I turn to you.
The intro starts with him saying " Its a pretty basic car with heated seats, Apple car play, four wheels and 5 seats". Well this car in India is called the Verna and its considered to be a premium vehicle for the same "basic" features... LOL
Also, no sport mode, torque converter 6 speed (very fuel thirsty) and the engine is 1.6 but with multipoint injection, which is also less fuel efficient
I drove a 2011 accent that I bought new in 2012 and I wasn’t making a lot of money at 21 years old. My first new car and I wasn’t sure it would be a good car but Hyundai surprised me. I drove a long commute for those 4 years and I enjoyed the low payment and what it got me. Reliable smooth quiet affordable comfortable transportation. It was peppy and smooth and the engine just purred. I had no issues while putting 66k miles on it. It wasn’t as well equipped as this one. I was treated great when getting oil changed at Hyundai dealer service department and it was then that I decided I would buy another Hyundai without hesitation. I’ve had 2 since and they’ve been as good as my friends Hyundai & Toyota and Nissan counter parts. This car is affordable and reliable and smooth. The long warranty is a plus. Thanks for bringing us this look at a new Accent.
If anyone is considering this car it’s the perfect little daily driver. I have the 2018 base model and it has everything you could want for the price point. Blue tooth, touchscreen, decently quiet cabin, big trunk for the car size and it’s easy to work on. It has decent car speakers and you can’t beat the gas mileage with a normal transmission and not a CVT. Surprisingly enough the car has a “sport” mode but all it does is just sets the transmission to quick shift around 3k RPMs, which I just use to merge onto streets quickly and the freeway.
I do give props to Hyundai/Kia for tuning the CVT. It "shifts" under hard acceleration to mimic a regular automatic and its not intrusive or rough under regular use.
I have the 2019 Hyundai Accent SE (wish I got SEL but I was too poor at the time), but I will say I LOVE this car going from my 1994 Saturn SL1 (my first car) to this. The MPG is amazing along with cabin noise being so minimal! I just wanted carplay but even with the SE screen, it is not bad at all! Love this car
Drove my first car, a 2001 Buick Regal for YEARS, just bought a new Hyundai Accent SE. Love it! Miss a few features I could get on an upper trim but I’m also poor lol so it’s something to work up to!
@@Anonymous-ji4sb fist car was a Lexus.. I k own they're good but other than Toyota Japanese quality has gone way down.. look at any reliability list and Hyundai and Kia are above Honda and Nissan..
@@Anonymous-ji4sb weird I have a 15 limited 2.0t and it hasn't had any issues with anything yet at 120,000. Relative has an 18 with no issues too. Its much nicer than my spouses 17 Camry and has been just as reliable. I won't be going Japanese anymore.
@@Anonymous-ji4sb Do you believe the completely Hyundai Accent will have issues in the near long term with its engine...? I thought about purchasing it as my first car after I've gotten my Drivers License.
I owned an accent for 4 years. It was before the crossover craze started. I was terrified to buy an inexpensive car and an accent at that in 2012 but I ended up loving the car. Super affordable smooth reliable quiet and trouble free. I have owned the Elantra and Sonata and just got a new Tucson! Long warranty and just good bang for the buck
Warranty itself shows that even though is a cheaper car is definitely built to last and even more for the budget. I got one mine is 2019 6 speed manual transmission but is really decent I squeeze out upto 42 miles per galon and commonly 38-40, is quite silent it moves decent for the 120hp it has and so far I got no complains
Had this as a rental a few months ago. Smooth ride for a sub contact and power is good for the small engine (I regularly drive an Elantra so this was a downgrade) but it was not that bad. Also was getting 39 MPG combined (mostly city) so this thing doesn’t fool arojnd
I owned a 2018 Elantra for 3yrs. Loved that car, but it gave me too many problems, so I sold it. Now I'm looking to replace it. I don't like the look of the new 2021+ Elantra, so I'm considering the Accent instead. The exterior design looks like a shrunken version of my 2018 Elantra. I love that. Just not sure if it'll be too cramped, too uncomfortable, too slow, too noisy in comparison. This video makes me think it's zippy enough and quiet enough for me to be happy. Your testimony helps as well. My only annoyance is that this time around I'd really love to have auto climate control, but I don't want the sunroof and harder riding 17" wheels that are part of that Limited trim also.
I think the engineering challenge is, in some ways, much greater in an affordable vehicle. You have to make difficult choices with what limited resources you have.
So true. Plus, the market that they play in is much more competitive, and the stakes are higher. Many people overlook this, so thank you for pointing it out.
@@TonyKimtheamusementparkfan I had the 11 Accent with the GDI, the car was utterly reliable and nice to drive but the engine started to knock around 60k unless I put in super leaded gas. Dealer said it was GDI issue and I needed to clean the injectors. It was a pretty expensive service and I did not keep the car. I now have a couple of other cars both Port injected only. I also avoid turbo cars. I don't need anything complicated for getting from A to B.
Crosses the msrp of the lowest trim Elantra/forte. And barely at that. You can get new ones for less than 18 and lightly used ones (Limited Accents) for around 14-15k.
@@macjoseph2375 cars like the Accent depreciate more than an Elantra would, marginal difference in gas mileage, even the price as New isn't much more for the Elantra for the features you get.
When I was shopping for a new car in 2018, I cross-shopped the Elantra and Accent. It was about a $2k difference comparably equipped. The extra money seemed well worth it to get a roomier, safer, plusher car with more power yet basically the same MPG. 2yrs later and I don't regret my decision one bit.
A base Accent is definitely on my short list of cars that I'd be interested in looking at if I was in the market to buy a new car right now. I've gotta have that 6 speed manual.
I make $20/hour living in Los Angeles, barely make ends meet no car. I recently won a lawsuit from work injury, I will be getting around 40k, I’ve seen these cars 2019+ with around 30-40k miles for around 12-14k, I would put down $4,000 just to pay $200-300 a month for basic transmission, beats taking the bus and Uber/Lyft which gets expensive fast.
I had a 2018 Hyundai Accent Limited (First model year of this body). The car was really nice for its size, extremely cute. The heated seats got really hot, it was peppy for only having a 1.6. I ended up trading it in.
I hope they still make Manuals. The Accent I drove in stick was actually pretty nice. Each gear felt positioned pretty much exactly where I'd want them to be, the clutch was nice and easy, it didn't really jerk around too badly (unlike a certain Volkswagen company I know) and was pleasant to drive. But honestly, I don't like CVT's that pretend to shift like they're regular cars with regular transmissions. I don't think anybody actually wants their car to do that.
I kinda like the 18' 19' models they had the 6 speed auto and it very good with the lil motor ... And i own one and average 35 mpg city ... And have gotten 41mpg highway doing 75mph 😏 ...
I used to hate the Hyundai Accent, however I realized that my 2009 has never given up on me, just routine maintenance nothing else. Never has been broken or died on me, even after 10 years. I can't say the same thing about a Chevy Impala I had, junk!! or the mustang, broken every few months. Well done piece of shit, well done
I just bought a 5 dr manual Accent today (the preferred model) that has all the bells and whistles. At 6’2” I have plenty of leg/head room while driving. Looking forward to picking it up tomorrow afternoon. Unfortunately this is the last year Hyundai are making the Accent.
I just drove it, it was a weird experience since I only drove an Opel Omega, it felt kinda nice, but I was really surprised that it was a 2020 model, doesn't look like it neither does feel like it...
I have this car in 2018 I only got it because it was 10k and I hate it lol tbh it’s small cramped and the ac sucks and that not good living in 100 weather but the up side it’s good on gas and well priced But I’m now buying a huge suv I would recommend this car if it’s your first car and you have no kids
I have a 2012 accent. I put a pioneer double din and a sub. Nice lil beater I live in south Florida its taken to me.to colorado n back did 2 year in the winter and got a 144k on it. Alot ppl may not like hyundai buts the shit still runs as I'm.posting this Im in key largo. Just an A. To B vehicle
What variant of hyundai accent is this car sir. Because they already have alloy mag wheels and a fog lamp... And the steering already have a controls. And the most what i want is sunroof... This what i want to found in philippines but it seems no have same like this model thank u..
