If the i20 Turbo DCT is slower than Glanza CVT, manual version of Glanza/Baleno would be quicker that iMT version of i20 Turbo. That's despite 37bhp and 59nm of power and torque deficit respectively on Glanza/Baleno. That's the magic of Suzuki engine. Their cars may be a tin can for haters. But it's reliable, fuel efficient and fun to drive. I'm a proud owner of 2018 Swift.
Strangely enough, the CVT as a technology is actually the most efficient gearbox out there, in theory at least. With the Glanza/Baleno 1.2 CVT vs manual, it's actually saving time in the shifts, and pretty much sits short of redline the entire trip to 100kmph, where peak power is. Figure that's why it's blitzed the test, though in regular driving that constant drone gets to you.
am confused to buy either glanza or i20.But surely glanza makes the perfect vehicle as this i20 is smart enough ,stylish, crispy engine ,best audio but no mileage and pickup is not even near by Glanza. So voted for Glanza Grey vehicle.
Very extensive review ! 😇 I prefer the Jazz cvt over these two, feels more connected, analog & massive cabin space ! Still sticking to my diesel fabia though 😋
@@nischals510 I wouldn't mind the noise from a Honda vtec engine to be honest 😋 Quite nice ! The jazz's tall headroom makes it feel more spacious than a full size sedan 😇
@@runsim_run Thanks for the fab comparo ! 😇 Choosing the fabia was the best bet i ever made 😅 She turns 9 yrs old this week & i can't seem to let her go ! The tatas still feel quite analog thankfully & will probably be where i move to next 🙂
You are misleading the public by citing Euro crash test ratings for Indian spec baleno where most know the safety requirements as per law is extremely varied between the countries & thus wrong & uncalled comparison.
While it's impossible to know what the difference between the Euro-spec Baleno and India-spec Baleno are since the manufacturer hasn't made that information available, on paper the differences mainly come down to the six airbags, radar brake support on the Euro car (required by law), versus two for India, with no active safety tech. Also, the Euro-spec cars are made-in-India and weigh the same, discounting the theory of varying build quality, at least in the Baleno's case. Here's hoping this discussion is put to rest someday, with a crash test of the made-FOR-India Baleno.
We tried to make that happen, but couldn't find an i20 iVT variant to compare. If the iVT performs similarly to the iVT strapped to the 1.5 in the Verna, it'll be one of the best, most modern CVTs in the segment!
@overdrive you guys should know better than citing the safety rating of the euro and export versions. The rating issue with the swift (2 vs 4 star) shows how many concerns such an approach raises. At this point trying to cite crashing rating for the international specification is just misleading customers
Unbelievable !!! Glanza CVT doing 0-100kph in 10.8s?? Polo TSI automatic takes almost the same time. Also I have read in some review earlier that the Manual Baleno takes 13s to 100kph. Are you saying that the CVT is quicker?
3 start in gncap with indian model was laat i20. plus 3 start baleno was european 6 airbag version tested in euroncap instead of gncap.. so in gncap..baleno would struggle to get even 2
Unfortunately we couldn't find an i20 iVT for this comparison test, though the moment we do you can bet we're revisiting this comparo - hopefully with everything in the segment.
