Thanks to my day job at Kelley Blue Book, I drive and review lots of cars. The 2020 Hyundai Sonata is one of them. The 2020 Sonata is a midsize sedan. Yes, many Americans have ditched sedans for SUVs in recent years, but the all-new Sonata makes a strong case for sedan ownership. In this video, we specifically review the new Sonata’s abilities as a family car.
With a standard 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine (191hp, 181 lb-ft) and an optional 1.6-liter turbocharged engine (180hp, 195 lb-ft) for higher trims the 2020 Sonata sedan delivers commendable acceleration along with strong fuel economy (2.5L 28city/38hwy) (1.6L Turbo 27city/36hwy). It also delivers a pleasing ride and surprisingly satisfying steering feel. In fact, I dig into the surprising excellence of the 2020 Sonata’s steering in this review.
On top of a sound mechanical package the 2020 Hyundai Sonata impressed us with a comfortable interior, roomy trunk, and mostly clear outward visibility. On top of that the Sonata impressed us with some very cool features including a hands-free trunk, 360-degree camera system, a vivid 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, an optional 10.25-inch infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Highway Driving Assist, a feature that helps manage speed and steering on the freeway. Rounding things out is an exceptionally cool feature rarely seen outside of Tesla ownership, Remote Smart Parking Assist, a feature that lets the driver remotely drive their Sonata into and out of tight parking spots. Lastly, we also experienced Sounds of Nature. Watch the video to see what we think about it.
