Super detailed and thorough video. Learned more from you in 11mins than searching around the f internet for weeks! Thank you so much. What is the height of the interior? What is the size of the bed that folds out? How easily does it pull behind a full size SUV? Does it have any normal 110v plugs outside or on the interior for like an air fryer, Keurig or fast chargers? Thanks!
I see on your thumbnail you have a Tacoma. How does it pull with the Tacoma? I’m really considering one of these trailers and sold my full size truck a few months back and got a third gen Tacoma.
You could mount a Jocool outside for the hot water. There are a few choices for heaters. I saw a bus conversion with a cooler meant for boats. I think made by Igloo, padded seat, swing over backrest. Could be used for your water tank and seating.
You're going to have more bubbling because the outer skin is only bonded to the frame with a tape when it starts deed imanating you'll see that it's a piece of crap all because they did not want to use screws
What is the weight limit for the tip out? I notice it doesn't have any sort of brace at the bottom like other tent trailer tip outs have. I'd be worried it would snap off with my husband and I, it would need to support about 350 lbs at least. Thanks for the great video!!
Not sure about the weight limit, you might have to visit the intech site. But my wife, daughter, and I sleep in the bed together just fine and have a combined weight of 370.
Thanks for the review. Do you have any experience taking it up into the mountains and unpaved roads? Wondering if it has enough clearance to get through rough roads that my truck can ride up without damage. Anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks for the review. Is the batwing awning option worth the extra cost or in your opinion is it just something else to break and/or overpriced? Also, how loud is the AC when you are running it in the enclosed space? Is it loud enough to be annoying? Does it drip condensation?
Nice video TY. We are looking at the exact same unit, and we need to make an offer. It's new, and I hear RVs have huge markups. If you don't mind what did you pay for the unit pre tax so we have an idea what to offer.
You would have to compare your ATV’s specs with the dimensions and weight limits on the intech website. We don’t actually use ours to haul toys so I’m not sure.
Dobi Elf works pretty well. Obviously you need shore power to use it though, so it wouldn’t work for boondocking unless you had a generator. If it gets below freezing you might need a good blanket. I’ve also heard when it gets REALLY cold, people keep the pop out folded in and sleep on the floor for better insulation.
I’ve had mine working down to 25 to 28°F with the bed deployed. Was significantly colder in the bed area but in the main cabin it was sufficient. I have a Mr. buddy propane back up for off grid and if it gets super cold.
So after a year or so, would you recommend? I wanted something easier for my 81 year old father to camp with me. It’s $22k-ish right now. I like the bed set up and kitchen. Has anything else broken? Was it an issue repairing the kitchen lock yourself? Did the ramp delaminate further?
Good review. This is exactly what i want - small trailer, can tow into the woods, dont need the whole bathroom/dining room/indoor kitchen set up, so really liking this. I have already seen one at a local RV/trailer lot, and really liked the look of it. Since its the holidays, they are closed til after New Years. Right now its just me and my 14 year old son. Looks like there is room for an air matress or a cot. Definitely looking orward to checking it out in person.
It would be super cool if you took that removable table top from the kitchen, cut a hole in it and place a metal sink inside with a drain to a 20g bucket underneath. I think if I owned this trailer that would be a mod I’d look into for sure. Thanks for the video
That is a great Idea. I work for a metal fab shop. The sink would be a great mod paired with the Coleman propane hot water on demand with a t on it so can have a shower hand spray hose
Never seen this trailer before. I was looking at teardrop campers. This is a little bigger. More room with the fold out bed. Not sure about the kitchen and only taking 1lb gas. Those run out fast, are expensive and not very environment friendly. A 5 or 11 pound tank would be better they could have done better with the kitchen. Since I only carry mountain bikes this camper would be great with inside space and more inside space to camp. I'd have to see how it compares to campers like Hiker in price.
You can use a 5lb tank and buy one of those regulators that lessons the pressure so you can use it on smaller hook ups like this one. I think they run about $100. Not ideal but an easy work-around.
Great review, thanks! Looks like a great trailer for me and my dogs. Any other issues/gripes since you made the video? How was rhino rack to deal with? Any issues with the new batwing?
I can’t remember if I mentioned the fridge sliding out while driving in the video, but it’s a problem with the 2020 model year and my biggest gripe. There’s a TSB to fix it under warranty though. Didn’t get a new batwing, figured out that the parts that broke are actually “supposed” to break. It’s a easily replaceable part that breaks first so that the awning doesn’t break badly. Really annoying though, I don’t think the batwing should be used on such a high application.
Camco travel toilet we got off amazon, works pretty well but I absolutely hate emptying it out. We only really use it for middle of the night emergencies with the kids.
The fridge will work off the battery but if you plan on using it off grid for a while you will want to upgrade the battery. We use a portable camp toilet and empty it out in campground or trail head vault toilets. I hate not having plumbing but it’s also less to worry about.
Good Review man. Nice GX as well, is that your tow vehicle? I've got an '07 w less than 52K that I'm going to slowly build. What dealer did you go to to purchase?
Congrats on your GX! I’ve got a lot of rust around the hitch area of my GX do we actually pull the trailer with our 5th gen 4Runner. We used TAC RV in Moyock, NC but they weren’t easy to haggle with so if you have other options you might be able to get it cheaper.
Thanks for the review. Wish they had the option for an outdoor shower as most places have water hook ups but then again all you need is a hose and a sprayer attached.
Thanks for the video! Now, if I can just convince my wife that we can make it work with that toilet you have sitting in the corner, I might be in business.
I honestly hate the toilet. Cleaning it out is pretty gross. We use campground toilets when possible and save the little toilet for middle of the night emergencies and never #2!
What did you pay? Rate the value for the buck 1-10 What weight can it handle during transportation? Could you had one extra bed on the other wallside as an option? Does it get very cold inside at night?
You can get the double tip out but I like having a window. It can handle another 1000lb I THINK. Doesn’t get too cold with the heater, but some people have made insulation pieces for the fold out to keep it warmer. I’d say 8/10.
So glad to see that Intech moved away from the big 20 lbs propane tanks to the small 1 lb propane tanks. I think most people don't use 20 lbs of propane on a single trip. Now you just need to bring a few small canisters with you and you can easily pick up more from more locations than you could refill a big tank from.
Nice video, I am not really impressed with all the issues you have already had, I hope they are making it good for you. I dont trust the support on the bed, or should I say lack of support. I would want to add some pole supports under the bed door. Hope it is working for you, this model caught my attention, and I am looking into it.
How are u finding the explore. We deciding between the one bed or two bed...not sure..I love the side door and window..but then you get the extra space with the extra bed..oh gees
Cool trailer! To bad about the lock breaking already on the kitchen slide out and the grip cover on the back door separating, oh and the awning breaking :/ but all in all very nice toy hauler ✌🏻🇨🇦
Yesterday while out for a walk I noticed a bus conversion was using a cooler (igloo?) meant for boats with a padded seat, swing over backrest and hold down points. I don't know if they were using it for water or food storage
Thanks for the awesome review. We are just starting to look into this being our solution for 2 adults + dogs. With the issues you have had, would you buy it again?
Jessica Fletcher I kind of wish I would have spent a little more and got the airstream basecamp, but it’s twice the price. In the under 20k category I would definitely buy this again. It’s been working really well for our family, which is two adults, two small kids, and two big dogs! I have also taken advantage of it’s “toy hauler” attributes by using it to haul a lot of furniture. It’s definitely a great value!
I wouldn’t go that far. I’m not sure you can buy a camper and not have a few problems. It sucks to have them but you should probably expect them when buying one.
