Navratri- Hindu Festival, a festival dedicated to the worship of the Hindu deity Durga. The word Navratri literally means nine nights in Sanskrit. The Hindu festival of Navaratri is an event that takes on spectacular proportions in Bangkok, Thailand. During these nine nights and ten days, nine forms of Shakti/Devi are celebrated at the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple but it’s often referred to as Wat Khaek in Thai located on Silom Road.

I worked in Bangkok and Chiang Rai...and stayed near to this temple...even though I am a Christian..I felt home when I am in this temple..just like my home in tamil Nadu ..wonderful memories.

Presently, third or fourth generational descendents of tamil settlers who built this temple manage this temple. While most of worshippers are thai nationals, tamil speaking Brahmin priests are initiating daily Pooja activities.

Sri maha mariamman temple Bangkok or “Wat Phra Sri Maha Uma Devi” is a Hindu temple. Located at No. 2 corner of Silom Road and Pan Road, Silom Subdistrict, Bang Rak District, Bangkok. Built around 1879 by Indians from the state of Tamil Nadu (Tamil Nadur) in southern India who migrated to Thailand.

This temple was built by tamil settlers from Karaikal ( french colonial area in india ) and Naga pattinam ( British colonial area in india ) in the Seelom area of Krung Thep ( Bangkok ), of Siam ( Thailand ). This temple was not built by Chola kings.

True.Hindu population in Thailand is very small. The worshippers are mostly Thai Buddhists whose ancient traditions were inspired by hindu folklore and epics like Ramakien ( Ramayana ). They also know about hindu gods and goddesses.

Hello for some people chanting Jai sri ram..or ECT ..I am living here...tailand Tamil cummunity is big..and it's Tamil temple.its called as Amman, Tamil God who prays in tamilnadu..u can see lot of Tamil text in this temple...all pujaris are Tamil here...so don't mix with it...ok ...

@Uut Selly i didn't say anything about sanskrit here??🤔🙂but you said tamil is never mentioned in Vedas, because tamil is way more older than that for sure...iam not biased to any language..but truth has to be accepted...and as u said Hinduism was not forced to follow in any parts of India,it is found there were many ways of worshipping idols..in tamilnadu kottravai,murugan were workshipped with different name..later they were added to Hinduism... altogether they later evolved as today's Hinduism....old south kings contributed lot more to Hinduism and sanskritised tamizh, kannada, malayalam,telugu..so allsouth languages got more sanskritised....expect tamizh because We can speak tamizh without sanskrit...that's tamizh uniqueness...

Mariamman is A Pure Tamil god .. In Tamil Maari - rain , Amma - mother . Goddess of Rain ,.... These Amman goddess in Tamilakkam derived from Tamil goddess of war kotravai Amman ... 6000BCE ..... In Tamil culture , we have clans .. each Tamil clan have their own Gods .like mariamman , karupasamy ,Ayyanar , etc ..... These temples were runned by the same family members !! Not by governments ... . Invaders or strangers only allowed to seek ,they have no rights to do anything there ... Then how Mariamman is a Hindu , hindi , Sanskriti ,bjpies one india , one nation ,northies , Aryan brahmin ,🤣🤣🤣🤣.... Mariamman comes under Tamil folk religions ,........ And the other think , these temples have poosaris not brahmins .... And we do pooja with goat , hen , dry fish meats for God ....we will cut down the heads of Goats in front of Our god's .... @@avikroy9144 tamil folk religion is not a lie...it's there...not only in tamilnadu, karnataka and Andhra..it is otherwise called grama devatha,kuladeivam,manadevaru in South regions...these gods are not inside main Hinduism because sacrifice were given to them,..maari Amman is form of parvathi,karupa saami is form of ayyapan...there is more inside Hinduism everything is linked we cannot seperate it...pls know this...does north india has such gods??
