I had one of these when I was back in England. It's badged as a Navarra and it was a 2006 2.5 TDI. I now live in Canada and have a 2023 Frontier Pro 4x. Transmission update does smooth out the sharp shifting. I loved my 2006 and love my 2023.

I have a 2020 S 2wd with the 3.8, I bought brand new in Jan of 2021. The engine had to be replaced after 30K miles and a year of owning it. (Dealership had been doing all the recommended service, but rod bearings failed on cylinder 4). Right now, I am at 96,000 miles, I had all the recalls done, and the transmission reprogram did not do anything, but they did fix the parking pawl and that did solve the parking issue. Issues aside (all new vehicles have problems, I have a 2020 F250 6.7 diesel sitting in my yard that needs a new main wire harness that Ford cannot get), the truck has been alright as long as you baby it, lots of service, fluid changes (brake, coolant, oil, etc.), and anything rubber will need to be replaced every year. I do appreciate that it does not have the ability to do wireless updates, I am looking at you RAM/Dodge, that brakes things or relays driving conditions/vehicle conditions to the manufacturer.

Thanks for sharing that update. What symptoms did you have when your rod bearings failed?
@Noma82
@Noma82 5 месяцев назад
@@frontier_etc Very loud Knocking that was rpm sensitive. It also felt like I was down on power, I drove it home and tried to start it the next day, but the engine was done by that time. Had to have it towed to the dealership. The good thing was since the dealership had done all the maintenance, there was no arguing about the replacement.

Im buying one. A 20 midnight edition. 3.8 9 speed. It currently has 40k miles. They asked around 27 but im getting it for 23 after everything. So being 23 I like it. Any advice for it being reliable or issues (as of 2024) would be great. It's got 18 rims/tires so a bit more hight which i need. I plan on towing a bit as well. How's the 4X4? Unfortunately it's only a 5 foot bed and push button which I'll have to deal with unfortunately. How's the sound system should I upgrade speakers? Etc. Sorry for the paragraph.

@@jasonc7503 reliability should be good, listen for knocking from the engine on a cold start. Some folks have had issues there. Also get a feel for the transmission. 4x4 works well when I've used it off road.

@frontier_etc I'll be sure. It's currently a southern truck but I live im upstate ny with it being cold now at night I'll be sure to check that out!

Just bought the exact same model about a month and a half ago. Blacked out 2020 midnight edition for 23k with 44k miles. Hope you didn't pay 27k for it. I love it but I'm not a fan of the unpredictable shifts of the automatic transmission.

What kind of mpgs you getting with the lift and tires? Just curious.
@frontier_etc
@frontier_etc 2 месяца назад
@@dialSforFresh 20 mpg in mixed city and highway driving. Each mod lowers it a bit. Removing the front air dam was 1 mpg, the lift was another 1 mpg loss, and some of the extra weight is another 1 mpg drop. When I was totally stock, I could get 23 mpg cruising on the highway at 65

@@frontier_etc Really did your setup. I’m on the hunt for one, I just can’t justify the interest rates right now. Like anywhere from 6-8%. Last question… That 9 speed still pretty smooth?
@frontier_etc
@frontier_etc 2 месяца назад
@@dialSforFresh no issues with the 9 speed yet, I'm at 39,000 miles. Stay tuned for another update on the build soon

What's your mpg on this truck I love the older body style
@frontier_etc

When it was completely stock, I once got 23mpg on the highway, calculated at the pump. Removing the air dam lowered it by 1mpg. With the small lift now, it's lowered a bit more to around 20mpg highway now. Definitely still improved over the old 4.0

Damm I knew nissan reliability is not there. Sounds like it won't make it to 200k without something major or atleast many many small issues piling up. Good review sir!

I'm not sure that's a fare assessment. He replaced the control arm and put a lift.. so there are the camber issues. The rattel ?? who cares. The ticking on a cold morning. They all seem to do this - thousands of miles on them and no issue. It's likely the high-pressure fuel injectors anyway Conversely to you comment I think he has had fine run with this truck and is on it's way to 300K miles

They should have kept these trucks in production with limited numbers has this older model could have been a affordable midsize truck.
