All this car needs is the 1.6T and 9 speed automatic that Nissan recently developed. Would be a cool and quick ride!

Really impressive what they've done with the Sentra! Although, a turbo option would be nice for the upper trim... That new interior looks great!

I have the 2020 sentra SV and I really like it. I looked at a handful of other cars for the price and nothing really jumped out to me like the sentra. Compared to my old chevy sonic its practically a sports/luxury car😂

Nissan's CVT always scared me, but our Altima is about to hit 225k on the odometer with the original CVT, so this could be my next car. Definitely going for the white paint & black roof option.

This is definitely better than any other Nissan Sentra.

This is the biggest example of how your reputation can ruin your brand. Although this is probably a much better car than what the competition is offering, it falls short due to Nissan's controversy. From the scandal that happened with it's former CEO to quality control that went unchecked on purpose. Here they are trying to regain the confidence of consumers at a cost of value to a vehicle that offers so much value compared to both Toyota and Honda. This is a lesson that everyone can learn in life. Don't try to lose peoples confidence in you or they will never trust you again.

Get rid of cvt then id consider.

Would not haven given the Sentra a serious look without watching this video. I'm not wild about the design language of Nissan's sedans, although this looks much better than its predecessor. The things that entice me most are the interior and the driving dynamics.

Just bought a fully loaded 2023 midnight edition SR❤ I LOVE IT! I came from a 2018 Altima SR.

People complaining about CVT's are out to lunch, I've had a 2011 Sentra SE-R, family had a 2014 Rogue SL, 2018 Rogue SL, girlfriend has a 2014 Versa, never had a single issue with a transmission on any of them

I own a 2020 Nissan sentra sv. I drove the civic and the corolla first and went with Nissan. I haven't second guessed my decision once.

I have a 1986 B-12 Sunny (Sentra) that handles the same way.. Nissan makes great handling cars.. the only problem they had since Renault merger was reliability.. if they managed to fix the CVT issues then this car will be a game changer for Nissan

TheTopher seems to be the only reviewer with such high praises for the new Sentra. Ohters only say it is good. Power aside, is it as good as Civic or Mazda3?

We have a 2016 Versa CVT 1.6L and it accelerates from 60 mph to 80 with no issue; linear acceleration. The engine turns slow (for a small engine) at 70 mph...about 2,500 rpm when under little load. Took the Versa across the Continental Divide from Illinois to Oregon (twice) and it did fine, even at high altitude, where the engine was turning 5,000 rpm just to keep us at a steady speed. I owned a 2011 Kia Soul 2.0L with a 4-speed auto that we also drove to Oregon and it performed just about the same as the Versa. The 2011 Soul was faster from a stop, but the Versa did about the same when passing on the highway. I currently drive a 2020 Kia Soul 6-MT 2.0L. Granted, my manual transmission Soul can be quicker from a stop, but I feel that Versa has similar performance accelerating above 60 mph. The new-generation Kia Souls use the IVT, which is a CVT that simulates an 8-speed auto. Only the first 7 gears can be accessed in regular drive mode, but shifting into sport lets you access simulated 8th gear, which has the engine turning only 2,100 rpm at 70 mph; about what the new Sentra turns. I have yet to drive the Sentra, but the IVT in the Soul was responsive and accelerated without having to rev the engine too high, and would willingly downshift into a lower simulated gear with just a slight dip into the throttle; no unnecessary kickdowns, but also willing to kickdown with appropriate throttle pressure. TheTopher described the Kia IVT as mimicking a well-tuned automatic.

Glad to see Nissan put in some work on this redesign. The worst thing I can see from this car right now is that horn sound...Hope that can be upgraded...

I'm a long time Nissan owner. They've been up and down, but mostly pretty steady on appearance, performance, and reliability. But lately very conservative, and I guess mostly due to their stumble in sells projections. But maybe their sells fall is a residual of them laying it down a bit. But this car looks amazing, but it needs a hp shot in the arm. I hope they up the hp as it ages, to match it's appearance and tech. Thanks for the review!!!

Best looking vehicle in Nissan's lineup. Sometimes less is more. The Maxima has way too much going on in the front, and the Altima is just wack. I generally dislike CVTs, so I would pick a Mazda 3.

They need to bring there 7 spd DCT to the North American market to replace the CVT

You should try do drive the new Altima with the bc turbo, I want to see how well it performs against other cars like it

These would make a great daily. Sell nissans drove the SR trim a few times very impressive feels quicker than my girlfriends 18 SR Turbo

I know they are from different class, but how much better the suspension is in this Sentra compared to the new Versa, if not the same?

I'm waiting for Detroit Auto show in June to see if we will get this car in Turbo and Manual for 2021. They need to step up as Koreans are taking over the market. Noticed at 70 MPH, the RPM was below 2K . That's really efficient for a four banger.

The car can look fine and feel fine as far as handling goes but at the end of the day i don't like the sound you get from accelerating in a CVT. They just kill the fun.. I mean i love the car itself but why such a dull anti enthusiast transmission ?? I don't like CVTs in Nissans, Toyotas, or Hondas. They have ruined some amazing cars these past few years with these stupid CVTs that ruin the fun factor of the cars entirely. I drove a 2014 civic with a CVT for a year and i had to get rid of it. The car itself was great but I couldn't get past the boring feel of accelerating in a CVT. Its a deal breaker for me.

Will we get a turbo again in the new one plus my only flaw is , why is Nissan still using the orange lighting in the interiors seems dated

Can't agree with you take on what is acceptable levels of performance these days. We've become spoiled with some of the levels of output offered these days, and it's not to say it wouldn't be nice to have more power, more power is always welcomed, but what do we actually need to find a vehicle a decent driver? Many of the vehicles I had in my younger years were at this level of power or less, and not one of them wasn't still fun to drive.

Can I buy this car with shift paddles at the helm?. I haven't seen them in any sentra in USA. In mexico, they are included.

Not much to complain about for this one. only things for me are subjective nit-picks... For example I hate the orange backlighting for all of the buttons in the car. It just feels so 90s/early 2000s. Reminds me of me 2003 Altima S that was always breaking. That, and the turn signal sound is so annoying and it sounds like it's very pronounced. I've since been spoiled by much more tasteful turn signal ticking

Is the suspension tuned more stiffly on the SR compared to the SV?

Man...I waited to put it on sport mode and show us the difference,. I bet yea you didn't know where the button is,it's right on the shifter just push it next time please. Great review other wise.

The only thing i donk like about the Sentra is the stupid hanging multimedia screen cloned by every manufacturer

it looks good but way too slow for most drivers. 150 hp is not enough and to make it worse it uses cvt
