2020 Pennsylvania Timber Rattlesnake Hunt
Venomous snakes in New England. 2020 Rattlesnake season is open, time to catch, clean and cook some. It's a great but extremely dangerous outdoor adventure! If you ever willing to catch one, this video is for you. We are showing our friend John how to hunt right way. Matt and Andy caught 2 last years, so they considered themselves as "experts" in the hunting public.

Nice video. i like to wrap my tongs with 1 layer of duct tape so that the metal tongs don't hurt or cut the snake. Good luck guys.

I tried this in the bush North of Phoenix Az. 25 years ago when I took a hit from a 3 1/2 foot Western Diamondback in the calf.... And I'm telling you it was 3 days of intense pain until the snake died❗😉❗☠❗

I have no problems with hunting snakes but the rattlers are good for the rodent control head down the the Florida Everglades and they do python hunting due to them being invasive species.Because they eat all the deer and gators and all you will see are multitudes of snakes to “put down”

When this covid nonsense ends and the snow starts falling here, we are going to try a python hint in Florida. We've got family in the state, but we gotta make some connections.

Thank you, David for your comment. We value the opinion of our audience, and yours as well, but it simply is not accurate. Turkey Vultures 100% live caves and ledges

PA has a really heathly population of Timber rattlesnakes, and a short controlled and regulated season for their harvest.

No. There is a month and a half + season.

The one thing i dont like is they use the grappers/tongs witch i understand younkinda have to.. Rattlesnakes are very fragile and holding them like that can break there spines. Thats why handlers usually use a double snake hook when handling Rattlesnakes.

We were as gentle as possible, and lost a few snakes because we didn't want to harm them with the tongs. Honestly, everyone we encounter snake hunting seemed to share that attitude. I am sure that there are cases where snake are injured by tongs, but the tongs make the capture sexing and measuring of rattlesnakes possible, which insures the harvest of mature males snakes. It's so much better than shooting or clubbing every snakes.

@@jayleit6881 Is that a joke? You didn't know snakes have spines and you are out there catching them. Maybe you should do some research because Joshua is 100% correct here.

@@Scumbria not to pile on, but your plucking what I see as my population of snakes... As your literally hunting my area. Got some general rules for ya. As I'm sure your trying to be lawful, and respectful to the creatures. These animals are insanely fragile. They're not a normal snake. You can't even relocate them. They die. This has been proven now, on this population. I know where your at, I know the roads your traveling. So when I say this population, I do mean these snakes your catching. 1: don't pull them out from under rocks. If they make it under, they're lost. Move on. 2: tape your grabbers, and grab them gently in the middle. Keep them lower to the ground, and move them on a slow smooth motion so you put as little stress on them as possible. 3: DO NOT RELOCATE!!!!! 4: DO NOT DISTURB THE HARD SCAPE!!! don't move rocks, don't move wood. 5: DO NOT NECK THE SNAKE!!! necking rattlesnakes, and vipers in general is not a good idea. They have very weak spines, and the base of the skull is very easily seperated. This kills the snake. As your not collecting specimen from these animals for study, you have no reason to ever neck a snake. The grabbers are meant for the middle of the body. Try to remember, everything out here eats these guys, so your a predator, and it's trying to not be eaten. Off the bat it's terrified. These guys take a decade to reach sexual maturity, they have dens for hibernating, basking, and breeding. They use these dens for generations. Putting them off the den by digging them out is catastrophic to the group.
