2020 Polaris Slingshot SL Review 

I liked the video because you do nice content, but god damn, that is one ugly, useless and stupid device.

OK, I rarely post in the Tube comments, and at that it seems that I'll be posting on the unpopular side of this one, but wth, here goes: I've owned my Slingshot (stupid name imo) since 2015. For the first three years, it was my daily driver .... everyday, all year. I put 30K miles on it these first years. (we go from snow to 117F 'round here). I loved it then and I love it now. The only thing about this vehicle that's even slightly similar to a MC is being exposed to the elements, and you just deal with it the same way as you do when you're on two wheels. In the end, this veh has its pro's and con's just like any other. It's still a blast to drive! NOW, what I really want to know: In several parts of this review video, you can hear the Slingshot producing a high pitch shrill-sounding "reeeeeeeeeeeee" ..... mine makes the EXACT sound (and can be heard in probably all of my SS videos). Bear in mind, I have a 2015 SL and not only is this a 2020 SL, but has a completely different engine, transmission, and re-designed swingarm. HOW IN THE WORLD CAN IT PRODUCE THE EXACT SAME SQUEAL? Yes, manual is the only way to go & Stabilization has saved my butt time after time. Say what you may, Polaris makes quality equipment, imho.

How do you get the front end of the Polaris Slingshots sl 2022 ,front kit to adjust front to get the five inch clarence from the ground.

Honestly it would make more sense with a forth wheel.

Eh, I would rather they kept the GM motor. Not that Polaris is unreliable or anything, but being able to get off the shelf parts dirt-cheap in-stock at ANY store (autozone, pep boys, o'reilly's, etc.) was a really nice perk of the old engine. Now they're boutique parts that you have to order through Polaris and prices will go up accordingly. That's kinda frustrating. Arguably more-so than an automatic transmission which was a stupid idea for this thing, but I guess their sales are suffering and they're trying to attract more people so it is what it is. The auto will probably keep the slingshot alive for a few more years over what would happen if it was manual-only, but not a ton.... If I had an extra spot in the garage I may pick one of these up for relax cruises with the wife when it's too hot to get all geared up but we still want some fresh air, but I don't have the space..

Do you know what the front/rear weight ratio is? Also, glad to see you survived the non-potable water!

What I love about the Slingshot is the price. I don’t think it has cheap looking interior. If they use high end looking interior materials it will bump up the price. If you are concerned about the noise there are noise canceling high tech helmets out there. Also, thank you very much for the automatic feature, but the auto shift and brakes needs improvement!🙏

I got so excited I drove four (4) hours to buy a 2021 Polaris Slingshot S with Technology package one, Wind deflector and Auto drive Security system black and white in color, thanks so much for sharing and making my day, I’m the happiest man in the town, I made my dream a reality, I stopped dreaming and started driving, I’m really enjoying the hot summer days now, I love my new toy, Simply the best Second 2 None A Game Changer A Show Stopper 😀

The only good thing about a slingshot is a non motorcycle rider can take this in an HOV lane. Other than that's it's kind of a shitty toy and now it doesn't have the reliability of a GM engine...

How much are they going for?

The 4th wheel would really transform this for the better. Make it a fun track car and cheap alternative to a lotus /caterham lookalike. 3-wheelers had a driving license advantage in the UK - 50 yrs ago when motorcyclists didn't need to upgrade to a car license. Nowadays this thing surely just gets flak from bikers or car drivers. Fun I'm sure, too limited though.

For what this costs you could buy a Veloster N, which is an infinitely better vehicle. Or hell if you want an open top, GET A MIATA.

Totally agree on the auto, manual is way more fun to drive when you can control the transmission.

Paddles won't be doing the shifting so Polaris would have to redo the entire gearbox for that to do anything. Ideally with some DCT.

I personally love progressive brakes over initial bite.

Its a bit odd that you have to wear a helmet to drive this but not a convertible or VW buggy.

Such a pointless purchase. No real reason not to have a fourth wheel on a car. If you really want something like this get a KTM X-Bow instead.

This is a car. Try a three-cylinder 1330 cc Can-Am Spyder F3-S. More of a motorcycle and quick, plus it handles really well.

If I had one I would engineer another rear wheel at the back and install a better engine with a manual gearbox. Because I like the look of it.

Giving the automatic to a motorcycle publication seems like a misstep. I haven't tried one, but I can't say I see the appeal compared to a bike.

Looks fun, but the styling is polarising. I prefer the looks of the Morgan or vanderhall

completely missed the mark -- should have been front wheel drive transverse engine mount. hard to believe that there are actually engineers and enthusiasts involved in the design and build.

Watched a few reviews, most aren’t favorable for their slingshot. Interesting buy several design flaws, I agree that automatic sounds good but if not shifting quickly it’s counterproductive to the functionality of such a driver experience. But watching a few driver angles, you can tell that body roll & handling on curves can be hairy. Has potential but I personally don’t see any major advantages from a single rear wheel design- Except to get attention. I would never buy one. But might stop to pull a driver out after he wrecked his!
