I really like the back and forth in these reviews. It's nice that you two don't 100% agree on everything and you counter, but build off of each other's points. If this engine proves to have good longevity, it seems like a really great option in the truck segment if you actually need a truck.

Warning - If you live where it gets below 0f or -18c do not buy a Ram with Air Ride. The air ride system does not deal well with cold weather. When I traded my '15 Ram Limited this summer, I believe I was on compressor 5 or 6 and three of the four air bags had had to be replaced, the last two out of warranty. In warm weather the air ride is great but it does not do cold weather well at all.

The RAM does not have independent rear suspension. It's coil sprung ,but still a solid rear.

The only thing that really matters is what kind of warranty will it come with. It will be in the shop often.

Now that Nissan as Cummins are splitting ties they should now put the 5.0 turbo diesel in the 1500 (but maybe a bit detuned to meet regulations)

I've look at every video review about the 3rd gen Eco-diesel I could find. This really is the most informative that is out there. I have heard that 80% of the engine parts were new but now I know what and why. I currently own a 2014 Grand Cherokee 1st gen Eco-diesel with 120k mile and I still love it. This engine sound more bullet proof in a better package, depending on what the new Grand Cherokee standard length looks like, the Ram 1500 may be my next daily driver. I just have one issue with your opinion of brand loyalty. I have owned and worked on every top pickup brand out there and I have found that; if you get a good truck to start, regardless of manufacturer, it will always be a good truck. Everybody can make a lemon just hope you don't buy one. Hey Savagegeese,,,,, keep it up.

Brand loyalty doesn't make sense really, what makes sense is to get the best product regardless of the manufacturer, if there's a specific manufacturer that consistently has the best product then yes, I'd be more bias towards them, but if there's something new and better that comes thats what I'll gravitate towards

My family has been Chevy for 30 years. Everyone will be leaving Chevy vehicles with in the next 3 years. Personally I’ll be getting a Ram Rebel black appearance group with ram boxes. It will work perfectly in Pennsylvania for the constant changing weather.

Truck brand loyalty is a construct of our parents’ generation. Ironically I believe it’s largely fading in the truck segment, and growing among car brands as they become the more exclusive automotive form (Subie for life, etc.). My generation (I’m 33) finally! has a *little* disposable income & will usher it toward a truly exciting special edition from most any brand. Hence in truckland, proliferation of Raptors, Rebels, Pro TRDs and the like. //$0.02

Still keeping my distance from Rams until I see how reliable these new ones will be, their record not very impressive...

Normally I skip over the truck reviews, because when it comes to the "truck loyalty" thing I'm a "none." I'm just not going to buy a truck. But I do like the Mark and Jack show. Two educated reviewers instead of the usual "dude, this car is awesome, isn't it?" vibe of some other two car reviews. And I kinda like the music.

I have a 2019 RAM 1500 Limited with the 5.7 eTorque. I would not want the 3 liter ecodiesel in my truck. However, once the 3 liter ecodiesel has been available in the Jeep Gladiator for about a year, I plan on trading in my RAM on a Rubicon Gladiator with a 3 liter ecodiesel.

Everyone always says the diesels are more efficient than the gas engines. While that may be true, you have to drive them 200,000 miles before it pays back the increased cost for the engine and the higher diesel prices at the pump.

The rear is not independent but it does have springs. The only independent rear suspension truck in the USA is the Ridgeline.

Warranty is 100,000 miles or 50 feet off the dealer lot whichever occurs first.....

Had 3 ecodiesels 2018, 21 and 22 and not a lick of problems with any of them aside from one blown glow plug at about 66k ($157)

So diesel will payback somewhere around 150,000 not including the DEF fluid and more expensive oil changes also not including all the trips to have the emissions system serviced and computer reflashes. I think I’ll stick to the Hemi.

Im not a "any" guy. Im actually looking for my first truck and im not married to any brand. They all need to work hard to earn my votes ie dollahs. That said I fucking love the RAM cause its interior is damn good, its rugged looking, has great tech, all the stats and damn its ride is the best. The others are far behind in interior and handling. I think im sold on the Rebel.

Fiat-Chrysler has engineers? Can't wait to see engineering make it into their vehicles! Having tackled an impossible task of making an engine that has a power output and fuel economy and NVH, perhaps they can have a go at wheels that are round and also spin.
