You can still buy this car new in Poland in 2022, there are quite a few manual and automatics. I think they are still making the kombi version for some reason..

Over 60 mpg at 62 mph I would be happy with that. Great car, engine and gearbox are very good. Nice relaxing drive. Bargain in the UK, I mean it's good value for what you get. The new model is of course an improvement in a few ways, but obviously more expensive too. I don’t do many miles but this model would be a really good step up from the Dacia Sandero (old model, 69 plate) manual that I currently have.

I see you have driven the new Skoda Fabia 2022. How does this 'old' model compare?

The New one is a Major Upgrade over the old one the new one feels much more refined and more high quality however the 'old' model in this configuratiok with the dsg and this engine is still an overall good Car for average consumers. It is not fast not luxurious but it gets the job done. We did over 1000km to Austria in this old Fabia and it wad not bad at all. However the new one is much better still.

@@TESTDRIVEFREAK Thanks for the quick reply! The problem is that for a new Fabia with DSG we have to wait at least 6 months, maximum 8 months. I can't wait that long. I don't carry passengers and I am definitely an 'average' driver! The most important thing is the DSG 'box. I know it has 160 nm compared to 200 of the 110bhp DSG in the new Fabia but in Poland we can only buy the 'kombi' version now of Fabia 3 - if you want a DSG quickly. It has a big 530 litres boot, and roof rails, plus all the tech that the new Fabia has. I know it's not the most beautiful car in the world but I don't car. I just want lazy driving with the DSG on the motorway.

@@SteveM-ly7oy im looking at a Fabia as my next car. Ive had decades of manual boxes and only had one auto car but I prefer it now. Much easier in traffic and general driving.

@@oddities-whatnotI forgot that I'd posted here a few years ago. So in 2022 I bought a Fabia 3 combi with a DSG fear box and 95bhp. It is awesome. Never again a manual gearbox for me.

Its a three cylinder, they are all like that, any brand. Its a strong unit though. Shared across VW range. Had same engine in Audi A1 and it was refined and quick for what it was designed to do.
