The ROY 1s aren't a "knockoff" of the TS1 tho, it had its own complete theme. It was the same colorway of MJ's suit the night he won the ROY Award. It even has his rookie stats inside the ankle side panels. It's a completely different sneaker, not a "replica". (and even came out before the TS1)

I love the “abundance of cheaper alternatives” trend. Some of the colorways are still 🔥 even if they look the same as an expensive version. For example, i would totally rock the ‘rookie of the year’ 1s or the ‘blue moon’ 1s.

The reason brands are making very similar “cheaper alternatives”, is because it’s easy to make and fake shoes are sadly catching a lot of traction. MMNL is a whole damn brand and they just a cheaper FOG.

Richie saying its better to spend 1k on quality than 1k on hype is 100% true. Thats literally what i stand by when it comes to sneakers. I only get things i can get for retail. If I miss out ill trade sneakers but NEVER will i pay resell for something thats only valued because of the hype behind it. Cause the quality is poor and the value will only go down after the hype is dead.

I‘ve been in the game for almost 14 years now and I had the same opinion as tan and richie at times where I would only buy limited releases. I didn‘t respect any GRs. I got lost in the sauce. But nowadays I go by one simple philosophy: Buy what you like. who cares if it‘s hype. And in my honest opinion it‘s dope that there is an abundance of V2s now. I agree with Johnny that most of them look the same but that‘s ok imo. sometimes it‘s ok to be a bobby from kansas lol.

I don’t like shoes for an alternative of hype.. I like the ROTY better than the Travis Scott because the wheat can go with more than the mocha🤷🏾♂️ the only Travis shoe I’d actually get is the Cactus Jack Air Force because that colorway is no where... I’d take a triple white air force over the Travis Air Force and not feel bad about it, they make subtle differences in expensive and alternative and some are better than others, like a regular blazer 77 vs off white blazer: I like the swoosh so much better on the off white it’s one of my favorite looks on a shoe
