I will check next time but meanwhile here is the link to buy the bearings with the parts numbers: Spool Support Bearing (RD13274) Stella Worm gear Bearing Counterpart (RD 11018) Stella handle bearing counterpart (RD13269) rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&pub=5575591865&toolid=10001&campid=5338690692&customid=Stella+Bearing&mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fitm%2FShimano-reel-BEARING-BUSHING-replacements-by-part-number-STAINLESS-CERAMIC%2F124096850349%3Fhash%3Ditem1ce4bfa9ad%3Am%3Am7HCh0tI8dMxHBsqBgMSP6A
Hey bud, I noticed on one of your other upgrade videos on the stradic fl 3000 that there was a shim or washer beside the bushing on the handle knob when you removed it. You made sure you put it back on then the bearing beside it. On this video the shim or washer wasn’t there. Did Shimano forget to put it on from manufacture you think? Even when I upgraded mine there was no shim which left me scratching my head as to why!
It is very possible that they missed it but since this is a smaller-sized reel, it could also be intentional... Hard to say! Either way, it will likely not make a difference. Thanks for the comment and question! Might have some new content coming out soon as well! - Isaac
The Carbontex drag washers are a vast improvement over the felt washer. Smoother over all drag pressures and will produce a higher max drag pressure. That has and will always be my first upgrade to any reel. A smooth drag is far more important than a smooth reel. Very good tutorial.
This can easily be upgraded with the upper worm gear bearing, oscillating paw bearing which are the same. You must order additional oscillating paw bushing. These bearings are 2x5x2.5mm and I would think a combination of 2 bearings of undetermined size would fit better on the paw. I'm working on that now. The rotary support bearing can easily be changed so this reel easily can be changed to a full 12 bearings....perhaps 13. I've done 1-1000'. 1-1000HG,1-3000HG and and a Vanford C3000XG. The next project is a C3000HG Exsense BB. Love the Shimano upgrade Videos
Zeadon Jamil thank you for commenting!! And yeah no problem at all! So to people who fish a lot and really get to use their reels a ton and feel them wear down over time you can bet you will be able to tell the difference.. but without a comparison to how it felt before the upgrade it could be harder to tell! I can definitely feel a small difference in the loss in friction producing a smoother reeling experience! Thanks for the awesome question!
Just purchased the same reel just to upgrade, I’m in the process of ordering the bearings but not sure if the bearings you have are ceramic or stainless steel? Might be a dumb question but I’m new to the fishing world.
Question- I've got a couple of 2500's I've upgraded. The upper worm gear bushing on mine has a flat cut out on the side. Will the upgrade bearing still fit? I've done all the other upgrades. Infinitely better!
Hello! Super nice video! But i have a question. What kind of grease shall i use for main gear and worm? FG13 and DG16? Or something else? Don't want to use bad greese/oils for it 🙂
They are not the exact same.. in fact you should watch my video on upgrading the Stradic FL 3000 because those are the same parts to the 2500 size.. good luck!!
Jgonzalez awesome! Great investment! I have the video uploaded and I am waiting on making it public for everyone to view. Not exactly sure when but I have another video coming out on how to properly clean your equipment before that. And I might publish a Vanford video before that. Just make sure you’re subscribed and turn on that bell icon so you never miss my videos! It will be out very soon!!
Do you replaced both bushings front and rear with #RD11018? Regarding worm gear bearings or bushings. You mentioned there is one more bushing inside the body of the reel.
I bought a Stradic FL 3000 after watching the other upgrade video. I have couple questions if you don't mind: 1) what size of Gomexus Power Knob you used to upgrade the Stradic FL 3000 (35mm, 38mm or 44mm)? 2) where did you buy those bearings (eBay, Amazon, PLAT)? Thank you for helpful videos. Best.
That’s awesome man!! I don’t mind at all.. I used the 35mm size power knob and I bought the bearings at my local tackle shop who does reel service. And you’re welcome!! I will definitely be making more upgrading videos! Make sure you’re subscribed for the giveaway!
@@WestCoastFloridaFishing ouch, I ordered a 38mm silver-black on Amazon yesterday (not shipped yet) as the listing says it would fit Stradic FL 1000-5000. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B084JKDTCZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1&psc=1. Do you think it fits my Stradic FL 3000? Thank you.
Thank you for the nice video! Just ordered the bearings to my 1000 HG. But I'm a little confused about the worm gear Bearing 'RD11018' How come you don't use the washers that the Stella have 'RD9856 and RD18758'? The original bushing has a back cover that will be against the worm shaft retainer. Now will it be the bearing steel against steel. Normally when I'm working with bearings this will be a BIG NO NO! Thanks again for a great video :)
Hy Bro. Can u tell me all the bearing sizes and the part numbers and whats the name and the number of the busing what goes in to the worm teeth. I want to change all the 6 bearings.
This is 2nd time I watched this video and am enjoying it even more. How much would the complete upgrade of this 1000 HG to the Stella level cost? Also I have a problem with a reel I have and would like your opinion if possible--Doc
Joseph Grossman that’s so cool to hear!!! The complete cost should be the same as the 3000fl and would be just around 55$ or so through my links! And shoot your question boss! -Isaac
@@WestCoastFloridaFishing I had a senior or Bunker Biden moment-B.S.--Before Stradic-- with a Carbon X 2000. I know it is reverse thread but I really tightened the rotor retaining nut to the top of the pinion, without putting the rotor on. Now it is too tight(pinion-rotor retaining nut) to loosen .I managed to take the reel apart and now have this little pinion cartridge with the RRN fixed at the end .You know I spent a lot of my youth where those bearings you use are made. There seems nothing to hold on to-trying not to damage the pinion- to unloosen the nut. Do you need a photo? Call me Doc Thank you Joe " Doc " Grossman, 1/5 Air Cavalry, RVN 1969-70
Curious why you did not install washers 9856 and 18758 that are listed on the Stella schematic? IMO, these washers would help with the performance of 11018 bearing. Let me know. Thanks
Great Question! My only answer is that I could not find the parts on eBay and had to opt out of installing them with the upgrade. Hopefully this wont be an issue for the future videos!
What about removing washers 20173 and 18758 from the worm shaft and put the bearing directly on worm shaft then put the 2 washer behind the bearing like on the stella?
I was wondering if you put all the bearings in this reel would it be just like the shimano Stella fj 1000 plus would it be just as good as the Stella fj
TyRon Jones it is so super personal when it comes to braid. If you like quiet braid then try suffix 832 or Power Pro SSv2. If you don’t care about noise and want a more abrasive resistant braid normal power pro is great! Spider wire is one of the strongest braids out there so you really have to try a bunch and see what’s your favorite!!
Albert Benedicto I believe that the difference is minimal and not worth the extra 50$ difference between the two.. plus the ceramic hybrids are loud 😳🤭
There is a large difference between the two. With ceramic they are very loud and noisy. One of the reasons I go for high quality stainless BB. I don't feel the ceramic is worth the money no.
Yes I do! I Updated the description because it was missing and here is the direct link to the bearing. These bearings are listed by size and the correct size is 8x13x4. rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fitm%2FHigh-Quality-440C-Stainless-Steel-Ball-bearings-Listed-by-Size%2F124156176607%3Fhash%3Ditem1ce848e8df%3Ag%3ARyQAAOSwXj1emJGP&campid=5338690692&toolid=10001&customid=Stella 4k Spool Bearing Hope I've helped!
Miguel Gonzalez I haven’t found any negative effects without the washer in my own reels but on the schematic it does show one in there but every reel is different!
james loerzel I can definitely make one! Shoot send me your reel and I’ll upgrade yours for a video! 😂 if you want to do that send me an email at lockeisaac@yahoo . Com! Anyways thank for the comment man! Hope you enjoyed!
Yes I do! There's no such thing as a 2019 and 2020. It's just the "FL" Shimano upgrades it's reals every few years not every year. And the second letter (in FL) denotes which model version it is, so FL is the most recent one, FK was before, FJ, FI and so on.
costa nicolaidis That sounds like an awesome idea.. that would be a long video.. close to 45 minutes.. what do you think about that length? Make sure your subbed for the giveaway!
@@WestCoastFloridaFishing Just show the bushing to bearings. I don't think it would be 45 minutes. Summarise it. Now that would be a cool video. Great one bro. Keep up the good work.
@@WestCoastFloridaFishing It would take too long for you to do it.As a pet project replacing all the bushings with bearings should make quite a difference. You should do it to your reels.
Nice job, but it would serve you to make sure you have the proper tools on hand. You mentioned the fact that you’ve been through this several times on camera so you should be aware of needed tools. Not trying to be hard on you, really enjoy your content. But that looks bad on your professionalism to use a knife, blade or a Phillips head in a Torx application. Keep them coming, I am a subscriber, and really appreciate the effort you make.
I figured that even with a 1000 sized reel I would have enough drag to stop most fish and I was able to put 10# line and I got 165 yards of line so line won’t be an issue at all! Good question!
West Coast Florida Fishing thanks! I currently have a 1000 FK, would you say it’s worth upgrading to the FL? I use it weekly for wading so it’s taken a beating.
Noah Harney I would say that if it’s ready to be retired it’s totally worth the upgrade.. again though if you’re strapped on the spare change then maybe it wouldn’t be such a bad idea to hold out a little bit longer.. I went from no 1000 size reel to this one so I am loving it!! If yours feels worn then I’d probably upgrade to the new FL and sell the old one for about 100$!
