Hey yammie pube!! I need help. I bought this exact same bike a few weeks ago. I plan on doing sprocket upgrade as soon as I break in the engine. I only do short commutes everyday in the city. I wanna know your opinion about doing -1 +2 or -1 +3. Are there any cons in the long run. I dont care about top end. I just want it to be snappier!! thanks for reading!! Thanks pube!! I bought this in june this year. In black. In 3 month 5000 kilometres. A motorcycle again after more than 35 years. More than perfect to get started again. I drive a lot. But top speed is not my goal, just relax and enjoy it. The bike is simply the best for that and had tested a few before.

I have had my MT-03 for 3 months now and put 2000 miles on it. I am 5'10" and 195lbs. I fit perfectly into the saddle, so I can see how any bigger than me is going to get uncomfortable. One thing I must say they do not accurately describe with this bike, is its power. Yes the spec sheet is not impressive, but this bike can easily pop wheelies in 2nd gear, so torque is not an issue. Additionally, I can get mine up to 60mph in 4th gear rather quickly. You have to rap it out to about 10,000rpm in each gear, and that opens it up. Don't be afraid to ring it's neck. The bike peaks performance and responsiveness at around 8-9K rpm range. Don't get me wrong, you can putt around at 4-5K rpm in all the gears just fine, and at lower speeds, it is very friendly at that range. But if you really want to feel what it can do, ring its freaking neck.

You’re absolutely correct. This thing goes if you ask it too. 0-60 in just over 5 seconds easy. It’s not a big deal to me. It feels so comfortable for someone my size and it’s honestly made me a better rider very fast.

yeah ive had mine for almost a month and almost have 800 miles. its such a nice, comfortable bike. it has some kick as well so i don't think I'm gonna be needing anything more anytime soon lol. i do highway rides all the time and it cruises at around 7k rpm at 65-70. I'm happy, i don't see a need to go any faster than that.

Had this for a few months now. Here are my gripes: 80 MPH buzzes through the hand grips at an elevated 8500 RPM-ish. Not smooth or enjoyable for long freeway stints. At 5’8/32 inseam my ankles feel a little cramped so I may have to drop coin for adjustable rear sets. This may be more subjective, but I am not digging the headlight design because it appears to provide less light and therefore less visibility. With that being said,This is my first bike And has many pluses and advantages that simply cannot be ignored. I have no regrets With this purchase and plan on keeping this bike to master all the fundamentals of riding. The throttle and Lever functions are very forgiving, the light weight provides for superior flickability without being intimidating, the exterior cosmetic design is unique and draws a lot of attention, the price point seems to be unmatched for what you get,. Be sure of the seating position, as it is not a full tuck Rather 3/4 or more upright compared to the R3 or other bikes, but that is a plus for me. Confidence inspiring, well-mannered, comfortable. The gearing is VERY short so if you don’t like shifting a thousand times in city streets this is not for you. My advice? Don’t dump money into upgrades, use your cash for good protective gear (helmet/jacket/boots/gloves/pants). I would not recommend this for anyone taller than 5’8. Or if you are gonna be long distance on freeways. I love this and while learning about riding I am not getting bored any time soon. If you want to truly learn about riding techniques then this is perfect. If you are just all about upgrades and going fast without taking the time to learn fundamentals, then get whatever you want because you may just be giving riders a bad rep and will end up hurting yourself and other people.

I've just bought a 2020 MT03 in Aus from the first owner who got it from the dealer. Done 1580km. I'm on the LAMS, I'm still technically a learner but going for my practical driving assessment (I'm so close, that is why I bought a bike). I'm ~163 cm and 52kg. I've only had the bike two days but I've been loving it so far! So comfortable. Very beginner friendly. I find the throttle is hugely more responsive (I guess this bike has a lot of torque) than the cb125e I've been learning on, but it was easy to get used to. I was very comfortable riding it home in the dark on the highway doing 100km and a sprinkle of rain. Very nimble bike to move around, I am quite comfortable reversing the bike when I need to. My instructor actually told me to try out the mt03 because she thought it'd suit me and she got it right!

A lot of the small displacement adventure bikes will fit your taller 6’ plus riders. The KTM 390 ADVENTURE, Kawasaki Versys 300, Honda CB500x, or BMW 310 GS will all be a little more accommodating to taller/bigger fellas. Some of the small displacement cruisers can work for tall guys too. You’ll preferably go sit on a few different models to see which ones you’re not cramped up on. If you have a lot of dirt bike experience, you should be able to start on a mid size 600-900cc bike. Which will open more doors for taller riders.

I have an MT03, with stock exhaust and power. I can easily get it up to 60 in 5-6 seconds depending on how good I shift. It redlines at 1200 rpms and it loves to be revved. I don’t think it’s slow tbh. I can zoom 80-100mph in 6th gear no problem. You DO gotta work for it 90+ though. Wheelies in 2nd gear fine. I literally love this little bike. If you want a faster bike.. get a bigger cc engine lol. Duh.

1)Great review! 2)When you talk about mods and mention "Tail Cleanup/Integrated Tail Light"... you say $150 but text on screen says $120...which one is it? 3)Those mods are a grand total of $1960. If we add that to the MSRP of $4599, that makes this bike $6559!...wouldn't it be better to just spend $5499 on a KTM 390 and get the BEST bike in this class?!...unless you guys feel that the KTM 390 also needs major mods to be made "a bit better" and that would cost also close to $2000 more! PLEASE LET US KNOW!

Originally I was looking at a BMW G310GS and then the G310R due to height. In May and June when I was looking there was nothing on Craigslist for the area and what was listed had retail prices attached for bike with 10k on them. So I started looking at new. Local BMW dealer didn't have the 310 so I drove to Nashville. Where they had them. Was in the fence so I waited called a couple days later and it was gone. Local dealers was selling so fast here they had nothing in stock. I went to a dealer off the main road and took a look around and found the mt series and one that fit my size. So I bought it and was the last one they had with no idea when more was coming. As an owner here are my thoughts... I fail to see where the throttle tube is excessive. Mine is 1/4 turn from idle to full. I recently went to several dealerships and except for the stupid fast liter bikes, all had 1/4 turn close to full as well, maybe it's a response thing but I am new to riding so why would I know other than others saying it's "bad" Also remember it's purpose as a beginner bike.. it needs to be forgiving. As tfts are nice... I don't find myself staring at my dash when riding so in the end it gives me the info I need quickly as is. Better brakes... Ok then swap out steel reinforced lines on it and call it a day or swap in a different caliper. Mine stops just fine as is. Some of us new riders don't fit the bikes we want and when you are below average height. At 5ft6in with a 28in inseam I still have to be on the balls of my feet at level and tipped toed in inclines and I originally wanted and ADV bike with all the fire roads and trails around my area....but here I am now. As far as the looks, it a love or hate. I love the look. The projector on this has a better beam pattern than my truck does, though side to side is lacking as I live in an area without street lights and wildlife is a bit active... Also as a new rider there are more things to focus on than.. "dude it needs an exhaust man.." especially without a tune. Later down the road yeah maybe... Crash protection is a no brainier on any bike. As far as speedo being off. It is already off from the factory GPS says 50 and it's reading 53. In the car world this can be corrected during an ECU tune fairly easily. Not sure why 400 and then another 100 unless it's a cut and paste tune which I feels never worth the money compared to a true tune to the specific application.

In India, We don't have a lot of bikes I see on this channel just like the mt 03
@albertdidde4395
@albertdidde4395 3 года назад
Sukrit Singh I think the problem is, from a marketing perspective, a lot of bikes in India don’t make sense in the US and vice-versa. Like we don’t have the MT-15. 100-200cc bikes aren’t designed for wide and mostly uncogested (relative to India) US roads; also because speed limits seem to be higher here we need a little more power to sustain those higher speeds. Similarly, 500-750cc bikes don’t seem to make a lot of sense in India bc depending on where you live the roads are super congested; and the people willing to put up with all the extra power are most likely willing to put up with the even more ridiculous power of liter bikes anyway (I mean if neither option is practical from the start, there’s not much point going with a bike with less power). That class makes perfect sense in America and is definitely a more practical option compared to liter bikes. Hopefully in the future India’s infrastructure will improve and we’ll start seeing more powerful bikes. And hopefully that’ll lead to less congested back roads.
@Dreycoo
@Dreycoo 3 года назад
Because our roads mostly ain't apt for bigger bikes. Like Americans always consider 300cc a beginner bike whereas, us Indians consider them big bikes and you know damn well a Duke 390 is a lot to take for a newbie in India 😂

I'm 5'6" with a 28 inch inseam. I'm thinking about getting back into motorcycles I haven't ridden since college. I'm 50 now. My first bike was a Ninja 250 and I also had a lot of time on a ninja 600. I'm thinking about this bike even though it's slower because I live in a town that most of the roads are 35 mile an hour speed limits. I know that 8:35 Mi an hour road is more fun on a smaller displacement motorcycle then a bigger display with motorcycle just because you hit it so fast on a larger displacement motorcycle. Plus this bike leaves over 3,000 in my pocket compared to an MTO 7. I thought about the Royal Enfield 411 but that bike makes even less horsepower and does not have Yamaha reliability. This just kind of seems like the better bike for running around town.

Mt03 predates the z400 - just not sold in the US until after the z400 was released. Mt03 was sold in Australia a long time before the z400 was heard of let Aline released. Test rode an MT03 with a bunch of other LAMS legal bikes here, when my son was looking to start riding - it is a great bike, and I could have purchased the demo I rode for AU$5000 which is a bargain. Did not buy it but it would have made a great city computer happy to park on the street

Sad thing is that in Australia the Duke 390 is the equivalent to 5000USD (7000AUD) ride away and the CB300R, MT-03, Z400 and even G310R are all actually more expensive by up to 1000AUD. At that price the Duke with its tons of tech and way higher performance is kind of a no-brainer.

Meh, I like the cb500f more. Was my first bike, enough power I didn’t grow out of it to quick, but forgiving enough to learn on and not kill myself. Also good for tall new riders. I’m 6’5”

I just passed my MSF. Got inspired by this channel. Now, I've been watching a LOTTTTTTT of videos on what's the best first bike to get. I saw this MT-03, my concerns are, not fitting well and that in a month or two I'll want to replace it for another bike. This is my list, any help or recommendations will be appreciated: 1. MT-03 2. MT-07 3. SV-650 ABS 4. Z400 ABS 5. Z650 ABS Which one will you recommend as a first bike. My background experience is only on dirt bikes and atv's, no street motorcycles.

What about a beginner comparison?? CFMoto 450ss and the Yamahas MT03? Both bike have been praised by you as good beginner bikes in the sub 6000 category and I'd like to see your comparison?!

Yammie, you gotta do a test review on the MT3 competitor the Kawasaki Z400. To be fair, a bike in which you have to twist the throttle wide open to get a bit of response is not only not "fun" but teaches a new rider little. That describes the MT3. For the experienced rider wanting to enjoy himself & maybe work on his skill set, this bike offers little. I think the Kawasaki Z400 solves these problems. Come on, do test/ review on it.

Not sure what's going on with the prices here in the UK, but it's big brother the MT 07 is only £1500 more expensive ! Kinda prices itself out of the market.

I like that it's a 2 cyl. bike; I believe that a 2 cyl. is smoother than a "thumper", and much better overall....

Yammie, hey brother. I am from Texas also. East, bible belt hell. Where the hell can you watch a motoGP race at a sports bar in Texas? Because they all air at 7am Texas time on Sundays its a major pain in the ass getting a sports bar to record it. I have the motoGP subscription, but we want to get out and order some nachos and beer lol. Cheers Yammie, thanks

The mods you’ve done to the MT-03 are completely unnecessary. No one buys an MT-03 to put thousands of dollars into for 5 horsepower. They buy it to learn then trade it in for an MT-07 or some other middleweight. The stock 40 horsepower is perfectly adequate for 99% of riding a newbie will ever do. You’re blowing fluff.🙄

personally i don’t see the rationale behind the mt03. the price difference between it and the r3 is almost negligible, the r3 already has very comfortable ergonomics. if you really wanted a naked bike, i would just go up in displacement

How is the cb500f not a competitor??? The cb300 competes more with 250’s. The 500 “471cc” competes with 400cc group
