He actually had the trim pointed upwards (7:00 video time) to the highest positión which it is done by pressing the trim button down to the lowest setting which raises the front of the Waverunner because the jet nozzle points upwards. It puts downward pressure on the back of the Waverunner therefore it lifts the front of the Waverunner. It does lose top end speed in that setting as the Waverunner act as a plow creating more resistance in the water because the Waverunner is at a higher angle. That setting is used mostly to raise the front in choppy water creating a better ride as the Waverunner cuts through the choppy waves better. This trim setting also gets the Waverunner on plane faster which you can use towards your advantage. If you want the highest top end speed of 64 to 66 MPH you set the jet nozzle at the middle. The Waverunner and the jet nozzle are more leveled which allows for more thrust to the Waverunner that help it achieve the maximum speed as it glides on water in the best angle possible. In no wake zones you can set the jet nozzle to point downwards by pressing the trim button up to the highest setting as it keeps the front of the Waverunner low to the water. This reduces the wake of the Waverunner as the jet's downward propulsion force raises the back of the Waverunners therefore lowing the front of the Waverunner. If you want to race you want to plane fast and then level fast using the trim to maximize the thrust of the Waverunner as fast as possible to have the advantage. The trim should be used according to water conditions to achieve the maximum benefit, but I find the middle setting is best for all around use of the Waverunner. It appears to me that he does not know how to use the trim properly. He did have the trim set in the wrong position to achieve top speed. This is why he can not achieve the top speed of 64 to 66 miles per hour. The top speed also depends on water conditions, air temperature, humidity, wind direction and wind speed, how much fuel weight or gallons, and the weight of the rider. All these factors determine the top speed. I have a 2019 VXR where I learned how to use the trim correctly. The 2020 GP1800R model is the same Waverunner as the 2019 VXR and it's capabilities. It is just an updated model NAME to sell more Waverunners under the GP Waverunner racing legacy. I feel that to earn the GP status it must be the fastest Waverunner as the racing legacy has always implied or projected throughout its history. I'm not falling for that marketing trick.
Well Said Paul, I have found with my 2016 VXR that one notch above neutral gives me better Top speed from 65mph to 67mph. it lifts the hull out of the water versus neutral. Either way the VXR is a beast and to me the best bang for the Buck for performance versus supercharged units. If you want to go fast without the hassle and maintence of a supercharger the VXR/GP1800R HO is the way to go!!
Great video! Love when you do these PWC videos as not many are or certainly not doing it as well as you do! Keep up the great work. Good luck with the channel
I like that you split from TFL. The other video you did on used vs new yamahas was awesome. More reviews on older jetskis would be unreal. For instance a 2010 rxtx 260 vs 2020 rxtx is it worth the price difference?
Kawasaki stx160x is faster it'll hit 60 all day has more storage has a bigger gas tank handles better has cruise control still has a reverse and is $2500 less
