2019 - 2021 Honda Pilot Engine Oil and Oil Filter Change. 17 mm socket for the oil drain plug. Honda recommend 29ft/lbs. I trimmed some of the plastic covering for me to have a better access to the Oil Filter.
Thank you very Much - Especially the close up shots of which way to turn the filter and the drain plug for removal. As a dyslexic person, this is super helpful to see. Even though i changed the oil on many cars trucks and outboard motors. I still have to think way too long on which way it loosens! ha!
Thank you again for the safety info. I always use my jackstands prior with this one. But after having this I felt that this would be more safer but i was wrong. I will pit some back up jack stands next time!
Thank you so much for your video. I took mine to Honda dealership for both oil changes and both times it leaked where the oil filter was at. They did sloopy work. I will start doing it myself from now on.
Great video...but I wouldn't cut the plastic shield but remove clips and screw; also before installing the filter I would fill it up with oil to avoid a dry start...just my two cents. Still very informative video !!
Thanks Man. Im just a DIY backyard guy. So different ideas from more experience guys helps me a lot. Im learning👍. I will do that for my future oil changes. Thanks. About the plastic shield, cant do no more Lol!
Bro, you made it look easy. Have a first gen Tacoma. Pain in butt for oil change. Wife has a new 2021. I don't trust dealer. Changing at 5000 with full synthetic. Nice vid
Thanks bro! I used to take my vehicles to the dealer but i thought it would be better if i do myself. Right amount of Oil and for sure full synthetic Oil will be used and at the same time saving some buck 😀.. i change Oil every 30% oil life in the computer.
@@110897100 They put an oil monitor on there for a reason. Wasting oil and filters at that rate, totally unnecessary at 30%. The only way to tell how much life your oil has left is by doing an oil analysis. Try it once, you find out you can just reset your oil life monitor for another 5k. Ive done it
@@jockkewstow9231 yes. For synthetic oil should be fine 5-7,500 mi before having oil change. But since my first honda, ive always done oil change before reaching 5K mi and i didnt have any problems. But you’re right. Tech now adays is way better than before. Might try to do it next time. Thanks man
Great video. I like every clips of it. I am from Subaru family and the oil filter is accessible from the top. The location of the oil filter of this Honda Pilot is really bad. One will need to remove the wheel in order to have better access to the oil filter location (if one doesn't want to trim off some plastic). Thank you for sharing.
Thanks brother! Its my first Oil Change service with the vehicle and the oil filter location was kinda tight. Theres no enough room so i decided to trim off the plastic. Thanks for the nice compliment😉
Thanks for your tips! Just changed my first oil in my 21 pilot. The filter location is horrible!!!!!!!!! I usually use a red plastic cup but there was no room. I’ll use a plastic bowl next time!
Kabayan , I just bought a new honda pilot 2022, the mileage right now is 6,500 the computer said to change oil, but on some research shows u can change oil it to every 7,500 miles, just bought a 0w 20 full synthetic oil & oil filter to change it myself when it reach 7,500.
Congratulations Kabayan for the New Pilot! Its a great Car! You can always do that but Honda recommend 5,000 miles to have an Oil change. Ever since iam doing maintenance service with my vehicles, i always change Oil and Filter when it reaches 30% which is like 4,500 to 5,000 miles oil life in the computer maintenace info. For me the sooner you change the better for your Pilot engine. You cant go wrong kabayan pag papalitan mo ng Oil sooner than 7,500.
My uncle gave it to me which he said he bought it in the 90’s. Kust dont know if they are still in the market as of today. And you are right, the reason he bought the extensions was his civic cant go up the ramps.
@@atokianotr9200 Yep. Mahal, its like over a 100 ang charge ng dealership.. Pagdating na pagdating mainit pa engine binibira na nila. Kaya minsa madalas nasisira un thread ng oil pan at drain plug.😀..
Hello kabayan! I started doing regular maintenace with my CRV maybe after i put 40,000 miles on it. I used to take to Honda for oil change and tire rotation but 150$ is quite a bit so i decided to do my self. After oil change reset mo lang sa computer maintence info ng vehicle. I do tire rotation also. For me mas OK kung ako ang gagawa kasi na ddrain un oil well at tama ang oil na nailalagay kasi sa shop we never know😀. Para sa Pilot ako na gumawa para sa second oil change. Un una kasi free sa honda.
Thank you kabayan. Hindi talaga ako certified mechanic. Mahilig lang mag kutkot. Dati ganyan din ako driver lang. Pinag aralan ko lang din para maka tipid ng konti sa service. Good luck kabayan..
I personally quit buying filters from Amazon. I ordered 2 Wix filters which were delivered from 2 different locations. Wix boxes didn’t match, Wix stickers on box didn’t match, and painted on part numbers were so smeared you could barely read the PNs on the filters. I’m not saying they were fakes, but I’ll spend a little more at the dealer.
Great decision brother. I think wix has a good reputation but if you buy it from amazon thats a different story because you have to deal with unknown sellers. Use OEM just to make sure and take care your engine. I used crush washers also from amazon but i noticed they are a little thicker. I will use OEM washers next time.
I have a good friend who works at honda as a mechanic and according to him using oem brand is always the best…They cost a little more but not a big difference anyway.
@@110897100 It doesn’t hurt. I use genuine Honda fluids for everything EXCEPT for the motor oil and windshield wiper fluid. I feel like the motor oil, it doesn’t matter which brand, but what does matter is that it is 0W-20 and full synthetic.
@@spritemoney that is for me the most important fluid that you use OEM. motor oil, trans fluid and coolant..I have a video on my crv also and i got some comments from viewers recommending using OEM fluids. It was my first time to ise Penzoil.
Yan ang worries ko before kabayan. So i did some research and it says wont affect the warranty as long as you can prove that you use the recommended oil by honda. So i kept all the reciepts. But para maka sigurado ka, talk to your dealerahip. I decided to do it para makapag palit ako ng oil every 3K to 4K miles and to make sure maaalagaan ang engine.
@@flakitopeluche1692 where’s your location brother? I bought it at honda parts.. ask for custumer discount😀.. they usually gives 10% off…i bought 6Q of oil and a filter.… bought my crush washer at amazon.
Oh thank you brother. I didnt know. My uncle gave this to me where he bought on the 90’s. It was barely use though. I will use my jack stands as a back up next time. Many thanks!
Yeah i knew it after i watched when it was already uploaded and theres no way for me to edit it since ive already deleted all the videos…for some reason maybe my friend who’s holding the camera missed one.. i didnt check before i upload it.. but i did put 5Q and .7
Yes. 😂. Im more worried about the drain plug than the splash. The engine buttom part is uncovered anyway😅. But i should be patient enough to just detach the cover and put it back after changing the filter.
