Yeah I'm not buying the cup anymore. I used to buy 2 tins per year for the last 5 years but I'm calling it quits until they either lower the price or add at least one really decent auto per tin. Might as well buy 1000 bucks of scratch offs haha
Upper Deck has become so greedy. Prices are crazy, Lack of decent hits, redemptions galore(with time limits), and now cards that aren't even The Cup? (Exquiste) No name rookies outnumber better rookies 3 or 4 -1. And I wonder how many sweet cards are kept in the UD "vault". Funny how the first couple of weeks some nice cards are pulled and then the product peters out. Card collecting has become a sham.....
I really like that effervescence set and to get a solid rookie was nice. The Nuge and the Barkov kinda even out in my opinion. Personally I'd have been happier with your box although it was also pretty weak. Regardless your comment made me check out your channel and got you another subscriber so at least there's that

OUCH! Gotta be the worst I've seen this year just on the names alone. I just bought a box for $750 and am real worried, even at that price. UD gotta do something better on that price mark for value.
When you think back to remember that 17-18 released at $600 and 18-19 released at $630, adding for rising production costs a box should be $800 max. At best there was about $200 value so at $800 a box that'd be 25% return; that to me is a reasonable losing card gamble
That was an rough box . The barkov and rookies autos could give atleast an 200$ range but it was an awful one . That is why i'm keeping myself away from that product because sometimes you hit big but other boxes could be a dud .
When cards like McDavid foundations /15 and McDavid scripted swatches /35 are selling just under $700 I agree. Boxes should be $800 max which is more than reasonable for rising expenses when you remember that 17-18 released at $600 and 18-19 released at $630
You’re right, the Barkov is a nice card. And the printing plate booklet is very interesting. BUT…definitely not sweet. For $1200 Cad there should be no such thing as a bad box. Aren’t these hand-packed? C’MON UD!!!

I'd disagree. You got an auto patch of a great veteran player, two decent rookie autos (Dewar is still in the league, he's not an AHL bust), and a 1/1. There's been worse boxes. It's all part of the gamble.
@@cameronfullerton2284 thats not UD's fault. Barkov is one of the best defense players in the league. Ellis was a damn good defenseman before his injuries. And two rookies who are regular players in the league. UD doesn't dictate market value. And it's foolish to think UD owes you money for opening a box of cards. They owe you a high quality product. That's what this is.
exactly. If you don't like the prices aka the gamble, back out and stop buying product. I love hockey cards but had to stop buying because the value of the cards is so piss poor compared to the box price that even hitting the best cards often just get you your money back. It's a joke and I'm out, just buying singles. Getting 10-20% value of the box back most of the time just isn't fun for anyone, would rather put that money on singles and sets unless you've got money to blow or want to make videos.
Unless you hit a top rookie, Gretzky, mcdavid, ovi, makar or matthews you wont make your money back…look in upper decks defence it’s a hobby not a business, but UD knows the business 😂 Screw everyone out of their money. Not happy you had a bad experience, however the comment “at least this can’t be worse than next years” dead wrong IMO. The hobby keeps gobbling up this stuff for “breaks” because people feel obligated to make content so zero incentive for UD to not water it down if it sells. If you keep buying it, it will only get worse. There is no incentive for UD to improve the quality of the product otherwise. Imagine if McDonald’s kept shrinking the portions each time you went, and customers kept buying…. Why would that change if it’s profitable?
Those rookies while not the best are at least NHL regulars. You never know about the call-ups, but what I find inexcusable is how they still insist on including several players that are long out of the league completely (yeah I’m looking at you Joey Keane). That would be a huge slap in the face on a scale of those you see in slapping contests.
This was a weaker box from what I have seen opened this year but not the worst. Barkov card MILDLY saves it, I think it’s worth more than 50 bucks. Dewar is a bad RPA, I’ll give you that.
Depends on how you look at it do you buy cards to flip or collect? Anyone who decides they want to just buy boxes to flip then this is the risk you take! It's gambling, if you collect and are an actual collector this is good rip. Pretty sure the Barkov patch was from his captain C. If more and more of you creators complain on value of the cards instead of the love then maybe buy a lottery tickets and scratch for a video. This is a hobby not a quick money grab.
Funny thing is the hobby shops but these for like 400$ 😶 look at the sales on things skybox metal champions 99$ a box from 300$ and they still make money at 99$ 😂 😂 way over priced because of the shops
I don't think the 21-22 rookie crop is really that bad, it's lacking a bonafided franchise superstar like McDavid, Matthews or Bedard but it's got a lot of fairly solid depth and it's too early say none of them won't become elite. I would compare it to the 17-18 rookie crop (look at Thompson last year and Boeser this year) and the 14-15 crop before Draisaitl, Pastrnak and Vasilevskiy all became elite. Again it's too early to say for certain but in my opinion the 22-23 crop is one of if not the worst in the modern era. Slafkovsky is not a number one pick level talent, Wright has been a disappointment at best bordering on complete bust, and the only really solid players in my opinion are Beniers and Power. I know it's tough to say now as we are probably 9-15 months away from 22-23 cup release, but as it sits now I would not be willing to spend that much on a box of 22-23 as by then we should have some decent mid to high end 23-24 products with much more potential
While I have to agree I must say if they did I would hate to see the price as it would then closely resemble Topps Definitive which is like $2500 for six autos and two mems. I seen one box of that stuff with a Marino Rivera auto with the pinstripes /40, an Adley Rutschman non numbered rookie auto and a 1/1 and comments were saying that was the worst box in the three box case although I would have been really happy with that box. For 21-22 hockey comparison I would say that would be like getting a Patrick Roy patch auto /40, Zegras (hard signed) rookie auto and a 1/1 so idk how I would feel about that double the price of a cup tin. At current cup prices I believe you should me getting either four autos two mem or five autos one mem, base/rookie base should not exist
