Hey dude, thanks to your video (at least partially) I'm now a proud owner of a commencal Meta (the ride version) :) It's a super fun nimble bike and runs stable even with 27''!
Glad I could inspire you to spend money on bikes :) Honestly, i find myself riding this bike quite a bit more than my full sus at the moment. Probably won't be the case when bike park season kicks in, but hey, i still love it!
At their site they say the seat post is only 170mm for M size bike, which isn’t enough for riding comfortably, while on your bike I see the seat post extended quite long. Have you changed the seat post for a longer one?
Hey dude great video and review! Do you find yourself grabbing the meta or the FS more often? I have a Jeffsy 29 Carbon set at 150 &160mm travel. I am thinking about swapping frames with a meta HT. How does it climb on technical rocky climbs? I ride a lot of very technical, steep, rocky terrain. I consider myself a good rider with a strong BMX & dirt jumping back ground. I am thinking of going to the meta for more of a playful feeling bike. The Jeffsy is amazing in the fast rowdy stuff but riding kind of feels boring… just curious your thoughts compared to your nomad I believe you said you had
Thanks, and sorry for the late reply. The nomad is still my go to for anything more tech than my local woods, which is choppy bedrock with like 30 cm of top soil on it. I love the meta on dirt jumps and as an all arounder for its simplicity, but I probably wouldn't sell my nomad and just ride the meta. The meta climbs like a goat, and feels really planted going down too, but a fs just has more uses.
Hey, thanks for uploading the review. I’m looking at one of these and just wondered how tall you are (if you don’t mind sharing!). I’m 5 11 and unsure wether to go for a M or L (I’m right on the line of both according to the Commencal sizing chart). Thanks again.
Hi! I'm 175cm or 5 9 ish. I went for a medium. I'd say you should go for a large, unless you want more of a snappy dirt jump style bike, in which case there are bikes more suited to that purpose.
Yo dude next time you come back let's do some big freeride drops I'm glad you enjoyed the dirt jumps i helped build everything next time you come out we should ride
It’s super hard to say. I can ride most L bikes pretty comfortably but I chose to go down a size for the fun factor. For me personally, I go down a size if I’m in between sizes. See if any local shops have frames with similar geo and try them?
I went with an M primarily because I prefer smaller more nimbler bikes. I could have just as well gone for an L i think. Don’t think it felt small for an M though. I’m 175cm, so around your height.
Hi there! Glad you enjoyed your stay in Portugal, l actually live here! I am thinking of buying this bike, but l am a complete beginner when it comes to trail riding. Do you think this would be a good bike for me to start out on? Thanks!
Thanks, it's an awesome place to visit and ride bikes! I think the meta ht is a really versatile bike. I built it up as a 27.5 because i had the parts already and i wanted a more playful bike. In your case, unless you're super short, i'd get a 29er. They roll better over small bumps. I'm assuming that you'll get a full build, so as with any bike, be prepared to swap out a few parts. Maybe the stem is too long/too short, bars maybe need ro get cut down, maybe you find the stock saddle uncomfortable. Ride it first as is to see how it feels, then get new stuff if you need to and sell of the old ones. The frame geometry is confidence inspiring (aka slack head angle) which i think is better for beginners than full on twitchy xc race bikes. Also you can run bigger tires if you need a slightly more plush ride. I think it's more than capable bike to start on!
Thanks so much for your advice! I actually bought this bike yesterday. Second hand only 4 months old so basically brand new. I love the bike and l was actually surprised how light it is! It has 27.5 so l will see how l get on with them! Now the fun will begin. I have already booked a training BTT course so l can ride this bike to its true potential! Thanks again for your help! 🔝😉
