I hunt with the excalibur exocet crossbow. And there has been many times that I get a second shot off - all be it with a lot of motion and luck, while hunting whitetails in Pennsylvania.. 2nd shots happen MORE than suggested here. This bow will be greatly accepted with respect to practicality...
There has been plenty of times I've been in the treestand and could have shot a coyote. But didn't want the hassle of climbing down just to recock my exomax. now with the new design I could shot a coyote or bobcat .and save the 2nd shot for a deer
I shoot an Excalibur Equinox. Opening Day 2020 I shot a deer, cocked my bow and a second deer walked out 5 minutes later and I shot it(Yes I had 2 tags). I could have used a bow like this but for the money I am not sure it would be worth it for one of those once in a lifetime situations. I like the bow though.
One use is as a quiet survival tool to harvest small and large game loaded with a broadhead on one bolt and a judo point on the other. You would have a good option for anything you came across from squirrels to musk ox.
Shot a buck back along, lung, liver , gut ! Ran 20 yards, stopped ,hunched up , Oh shot, what happened😠 woulda been nice 2nd shot, instead of 5 hour( track) job next day 300 yards on top of hill😤! Glad I can Track em👍
we have advanced so much in the technology and engineering department that we could build even a 4 barrel crossbow if we wanted to, so really this argument is just wrong
I don't crossbow hunt, but I do have kids, and with them using longbows (not compounds), there is a real chance that they will wound if their shot hits a shoulder bone, and having two legal shots as a backup, in the stand, has some appeal. I don't need another thing, I am trying to cut back, so it won't be happening. But I can see a use for it.
Cool toy. Not sure I'd benefit from it though. Unless I'm gang hunting deer and you get a chance of a double header . Would be cheaper to just use 2 crossbows at 400 fps though. Good review. Thanks
Practical hunting situations would be if you happen to spine or wound an animal and you ned a quick second shot. If you shoot a deer and there is a second der there and you want to shoot it too. There are plenty of "practical" hunting situations where a fast second shot might be good to have
As a compound bow shooter, can someone explain to me why folks shoot Crossbow? Minus physical disabilities. Why not just use a gun? Is it just to take advantage of bow season?
Crossbows/compound/recurve do not use a chemical propelled projectile. A rifle has a much further reach. There is an argument about the noisy rifle makes can disturb/stress animals, as well as be a hazard to the hunters hearing. Some places will not allow you to hunt with any kind of bow (prevent animals suffering 🙄). The hunting laws in the states are inconsistent from state to state, but I suppose it make sense if you live there, so being able to hunt more is better as well, just have to have to train with more equipment.
Hey man great review. I’m deciding to step into crossbow target shooting (hunting is not allowed here) and obviously I’m a total newbie. I’m torn between Excalibur Assasin400td and Twinstrike TAC2. What would you suggest among those two. With regards from Slovenia
@@chadbarham2916 Well I expressed my self a little bit false… Hunting with a bow or crossbow is not allowed, hunting with rifle is allowed but you have to be a licensed hunter and a member of a so called “hunting family“.
cough...cough.... Chinese repeating Crossbows in 400 BCE, so not really the world's first unless only 2 bolts is the world first you want to claim. cough...cough... Ladyhawke featured a working double crossbow. Crossman sold one in the late 80s... Functional double crossbows have been sold for decades, nothing revolutionary here.
Great Review! I missed the release Excalibur did at noon today. Other than being a novelty item maybe like you said hog or bear hunting but for Whitetail ... No Thanks!!!
Excal is claiming 385# combined and you are saying 285# for each limb set. Have you scaled this bow? 285# makes more sense to me, considering the arrow used and speed claimed.
Hi, I want purchase a new Crossbow and I'm in doubt. I don't use for hunting but I use for long range shooting 100 meters, and I want to ask a little help to decide to but Ravin R10 o the new Excalubur Twinstrike. I've already had an R10, and also the Excalubur Assasin, and I know their potential well, but I'm fascinated by twinstrike and its 2 arrows, and I wonder if I can expect a 100m high accuracy, give me some advice on which to take???? Thank you all :-)
The Twinstrike is certainly accurate like all Excalibur bows. But it’s not as fast as the other models you mentioned. For 100m target shooting I would stay with what you have been using.
That’s so stupid , one will shoot high and other bolt will shoot low neither will hit in same spot other one does , I don’t even consider this crossbow archery , it’s like using a semi auto rifle during muzzle loader season , and having to load the bolt from the front isn’t a safe idea either loading it having to hold tip of broadhead to push bolt in , what if the string comes out of cocking position and slings the bolt out when loading , its stupid in so many ways 🤦
It's only going to promote even more irresponsible shots being taken by over zealous people knowing they can take that chance because they have a second shot now. Crossbow hunters are already trying to stretch out distances to 50, 60, 70 yards and beyond. It's supposed to be bow hunting. Learn how to hunt and get close.
I had the same thoughts. Happy to see a life signal from you Jeff since you did not upload videos on your channel for a long time. Hope you and your family are fine. Wish you the best.
@@bonehead9027 I mostly hunt with a crossbow for big game. But if I was using a shotgun or a rifle it would be the same. I take my time and make the first shot count.
So please tell me, when is enough going to be enough? When you can shoot 100 yards with a crossbow? How about 200 yards? Is that going to be enough? Why not just lump the archery season in with the rifle season? Here's an idea, learn how to hunt and get close. Since when was bowhunting ever suppose to be easy?
Wait a minute! My crossbow shots are 25 yards and under. I do not advocate shots 30 yards and beyond. I shoot a cut on contact broadhead heavy front of centre 550 grain bolt. I make the first shot count, i wait for the animal to be broadside before making the shot.
Yeah man it is a total game changer and innovation in the crossbow world. It would be cool if excalibur made one that can fire three arrows in a row lmao
What a foolish design. What in the world made them do this?????? Ridiculous. Thanks for posting. I own the Matrix 380 and am looking in getting the suppressor 400 TD.
$2222.22. 4 2shots. I own a harpoon Hatsan 600 FPS. $810. 11 shots in 1 tank. Hahaahahahahhabits cool yes. 2 shots 360 FPS. Poor good for squirrel 🐿 yes
