I like the power folding shifter; its a creative solution to give you a traditional shifter and the room for a laptop. Yes, it may break eventually but this is true for a knob or any other switch.
Dude doesn’t like the button controlled power folding shifter because it may eventually break...so he suggests a rotary dial shifter instead...yeah, that can’t break.
At this point in my research, I would bet on this feature. And Ford should be willing to back it up. Gear selection should be a no brainer. And if you try to mess with that , it needs to be seamless. Including this work space option. Stuff like this needs to be seamless and totally reliable. Otherwise..... chaos!
Love the power folding shifter. Wouldn't own a truck w/o a floor shifter & love the work center. Ford designed this truck with me in mind. Makes sense since I buy 1 per yr lol.
This is actually faster than the Raptor. Does 0-60 MPH in 5.0 secs flat which beats the Raptor’s 5.1 sec time by a hair. There are multiple drag race videos on YT showing this PowerBoost beating the Raptor, Silverado 6.2L, and Ram 1500.
I’d take a column shifter every day….just like my super duty. Give me more room in the console. Have never understood the desire for the console shifter on an auto trans.
Focus group: We like the workstation but we also want a console shifter. Ford engineering: How about a fold away shifter? Focus group: Brilliant! Don’t see anything going wrong with that.
I really wish ford would've allowed customers to add the max recline seats to the lariat trim... No way am i spending that much extra money on the limited or king ranch, but god would those seats be so sick!
As stated in this video, trucks in general, regardless of brand, are INSANELY, CRAZILY, priced. Because most manufacturers are not making sedans, they've moved their price focus to trucks and SUV's. I recently viewed a Ford F150 Limited at $81K.....NOT HAPPENING!
I bought a 2022 hybrid, F150, 4 x 4, FX four package, I leveled it with 2 inch lift in the front, and put two 9570 R 20 Nito ridge grappler tires on it. This truck is so nice, it is so smooth on the road, There is no tire rub at all, the 7.2 kW pro power on board is awesome, but and this is a big butt… The fuel economy sucks… I just can’t believe how horrible the mpg‘s are on this truck. I’ve had 32.7 L F150‘s in a row, all of them with the 2.4 kW pro power on board and my average fuel economy with my ladder rack and my typical tools on my truck is 15.5 miles per gallon. I thought for sure with this hybrid I would get at least 18.5 miles per gallon. But the reality is my 2.7 L trucks got better fuel mileage then the brand new hybrid I just bought. I am averaging 14.5 miles per gallon. 14.5 mpg‘s is absolutely an insult to engineering efforts by Ford. Are the reality is 7.2 kW should be reserved for the pro power on board, and a separate 7.2 kW battery pack should be reserved for increasing the mpg‘s. Because right now it seems as if they do not even have 1 kW of battery power allocated towards driving the trucks mpg’s average up. Honestly, there should be an option that allows someone to choose the ratio of the battery being used for mpg’s vs pro power on Board.
Ford claims their study shows customers don't want shifter dials or buttons on their F-150. They want a console shifter. I'd take my chances with that breaking. Doesn't appear to be very complicated.
QUESTION : If you LOWERED the SHIFT LEVER to use the work surface ; then , needed to drive away , and after you closed the work surface , the SHIFT LEVER REFUSED to raise up , are you stuck - unable to drive away ?
Everyone seems to miss the fact that having that shifter with the work surface prevents you from having a laptop out while driving. The shifter is there because people like having a physical shifter. Ford is listening to their customers. Also why do you think it’s going to break? An item like that can easily be made to function hundreds of thousands of times. Basic engineering guys
Yeah -- that's the "Platinum" trim. The cool thing is that the Powerboost option is available on EVERY trim, all the way down to the base model XL. I'm waiting for my XLT 302A Sport to be delivered to the dealer. My current truck is a 2002 F150 Lariat that stickered for $38K new. After 292,000 miles, I figured it was time to replace it. The XLT I ordered is actually a nicer truck. It won't have leather seats or body-colored side mirrors, but overall it's a lot better equipped than the older Lariat. (And the gas mileage is almost twice as good.) The thing I noticed on the older truck is that it's all the "upgrades" that wore out first. The leather seats split, cruise control and other electronics failed, heated seats gave up the ghost, etc.
Wow you can see the future! It’s gimmicky and will break? How the heck can you say that at this point? I like it muck better than a rotary dial or column shifter (that would get in the way of seeing your screen. I guess that’s why they made it for people like me, not you. You know people who actually spend their money and buy the truck instead of well being a putz. Over all your review is fair but come on man think about why they did what they did instead of talking out your wrong oriface
