The Ford Explorer Police Interceptor is made in Chicago, when it rolls off the line it then goes to be finished to the specs of the department that’s ordering it. This is done at a facility local to the factory or the customer can have it done wherever they like. The police like them designed to their specs. Not that I know ANYTHING about this. I am defiantly NOT a Ford employee at the Chicago Assembly Plant. Ford employees are not allowed to comment on ANY social media in relation to the company.

I think its an emergency vehicle thing that the department requests...all of our emergency vehicles still have keys too, one less electronic thing to go wrong.

The charger are push button but the Ford and Chevys still use keys

It's a passive feature called Pursuit Mode, which is based on brake line pressure, deceleration, and lateral acceleration rates and will adjust the vehicle accordingly.
