Review of my brand new 2021 Ford Transit Custom. I've been asked about this so many times, that I thought I would just make a video to answer all the questions. Hope you like it :)

Another great video, love the down to earth reviews etc.....it’s what we all want to watch! I’ve been looking at replacing my 12 plate transit with me of these (identical colour/model ideally). Popped into my local ford dealer today and was quoted over 23k with a towbar! He told me Ford make everyone charge the same 😂 Was yours a special deal?!

Great video mate; nothing boring about it at all. I'm toying with the idea of getting one and this was helpful. Probably the dual cab for me; Sport version for the power. You need it in Australia if you travel anywhere.

TC off is useful for the rare cases where you actually want the wheels to spin. Typically in snow or mud.

Great video, mate - really useful. I've watched all your Transit ones now (I think) and noticed a brief clip in this one of you loading a bike. Have you done a video just about your bike loading and securing method? I'm considering getting a van to replace my daily drive and was wondering if you had any issues with the low roof height while wheeling a bike up the ramp (I'm 6'2). Cheers.

@@kalheer yeah it’s a good shout mate. I’ve got three kids so would have been decent. I just need it to be as small as poss so I can get it in multi story train station car parks for work. Might make the wife swap her disco for one haha

You could have a small electric winch fitted at the bulkhead to pull the RSV4 up the ramp. Wrap a sling round the forks above the mud guard and attach to the winch. That would be less risky than starting the bike and clutching/walking it up the ramp. - just in case you slip and drop the bike etc. I assume that's how you do it at the moment.

Good idea mate. I don’t use the engine I just get a small run up and push it up manually. Worried about slipping on the clutch. Not easy though.

Only problem with em is the exhaust filter clogs up on short runs, if not cleared it will go into limp mode.

Definitely get a faraday pouch for they keys mate! Stop thieves hacking into the signal of your van and just driving away in minutes

Not keyless mate so faraday pouch wont have any effect. It has a physical key blade.

Gearbox is brilliant. As good as any car manual to be fair. Maybe on long journey it would be handy to have auto but I don’t really miss it and it’s less to go wrong.

One real question about this van I have is this - why there's no automatic a/c available? Every other medium van has it, big Transit and small Connect have it, only the Custom was left with a manual a/c, why?

I’ve been look at the Transit Custom or the iLoad but I think the Ford is the better vehicle to be honest.

The Hyundai iLoad is quite dated and a bit dull to drive. The Transit is quite sporty to drive for a van but the iLoad feels like just a regular van

I had a 2016 transit 2.2 custom bought from new but decided to upgrade to the new 2021 custom, personally I feel the new vehicles drive is not as good as the old 2.2 model. One issue is the gear ratio has changed so your always changing gears more often, power through the gears from 0 to 50 is improved but on the motorway at 60 to 80 the engine seems to be working much harder with less grunt the the old model. The absolute worst feature is the new headlights they are absolutely dreadful when you consider the vehicle was nearly £35k, seriously I’ve never driven a vehicle with such poor headlights at night. Please Ford get the small things right safely at night is a must, I’m considering having extra spot lights fitted. Overall great vehicle but disappointing lights, rattles, and pulling power of the 2.0 engine.

I can’t say I’ve noticed that but to be fair I’ve nothing to compare against like you. My only really gripe is fuel economy isnt as good as I thought it would be.

I decided to invest in better headlamp bulbs for my 2021 Transit Custom as the standard bulbs are absolutely useless. I’ve replaced all four standard ones for new LED bulbs & the result is amazing, a little expensive at £150 but definitely worth it.

It’s brand new so hopefully won’t rust for a few years. I hear good things about the new Fords so fingers crossed. And it’s not been stolen yet so I guess.... in all seriousness though they are alarmed, deadlocked etc. Thing the reason people think they get stolen more is they sell more so it’s more visible.

@@mostlymotorbikes that’s good to hear, they are great vans... unsure what year is best with these ? 2017 onwards? I do like the Transporters but the price of them is well .... ridiculous compared. I will be using it for work purposes so my thoughts are the Ford custom would be better suited?

In the middle of getting mine now dealership chucked me in tow bar, reversing camera and full ply-line kit plus 3 years free service for £100 all in including VAT £28,185, starting to think why they chucked in so much for “free” if you’ve only got yours for £24/£25k inc VAT?

All the engines through the range are the same. The only difference is the tune. Go get it remapped. Not just for the extra power but makes it so much better to drive.

@@ped0000 hope not lol. It’s only mainly cosmetic. The race map and akra was dealer fitted
