Those are mostly in the Shop watching them get repaired. I am the fleet manager at our company and Jeeps are VERY unreliable! Plan on once every 4-6 months going to the Dealer for repairs. I drive a 2017 Yukon...134k on the clock and on MAJOR issue (defective trans went @ 97k, 3k under warranty - so replaced for free) but otherwise no pesky reoccurring issues.
We have an XL with the diesel and love it. My son is 6'6 and can ride in the middle and back no problem. 27 MPG on the highway doing 70 through Idaho. If you have 2-3 kids and a dog and want to road trip or tow, this is a great choice. Great review!
I have the Denali in the diesel as well. We average about 26.5mpg on road trips. I waited on the Diesel engine, I just couldn't see myself in the V8 with the gas mileage it gets.
As an avid automotive vlog subscriber and viewer, I really appreciate your reviews, especially from a practical parents perspective. I'm looking forward to your review of the Grand Cherokee L and the Rivian R1S. Good luck!
I'm a dad of two and I love your videos! I've always been the family driver, since my wife had a Corolla for decades and I had SUVs or trucks, so your videos are amazingly helpful! I'm currently on the market for a new and larger SUV than my current Sorento, and while the Yukon/Yukon XL are at the top of my list, I've watched probably 15 of your other videos including ones for vehicles that aren't on my list at all. I just really like your reviews! Whenever I go to an auto show or dealership, I'm always armed with a tape measure and notebook and write down all my thoughts on pretty much every single thing you comment on in your reviews. I also love the sass! 😀
Yeah smh, but I’d still take the 2021 any day. The 2020 third row has that step thing that makes you eat your knees. That’s a bigger deal breaker than some cup holders
Honestly if anyone is debating about getting this car but is holding back because they think it’s too big and will be too hard to park just go for it, trust me you’ll get used to it in less than a month.
You can select an option for a place for your purse in the center console - it’s a bit shallower, and it retracts back, pushing the cup holders closer to the second row, and creating space for a purse. I actually use it a lot when I have a passenger in the front!
We’ll in all honesty, I’m not surprised that it drives like a truck. It’s almost the same platform as the GMC Sierra and Chevy Silverado. Just with independent suspension. And if you equip it, the center counsel can actually move backwards to fit extra bags or purses. But great review👍🏽
I’m mad they got rid of the hidden storage behind the screen. My 2015 Tahoe LTZ has 260k miles on it and I’m looking at the new Suburban and that’s my only complaint. I use it all the time and I keep a couple things in there, and it’s great because I can lock it as well.
@@pawelwisniewski6849 Yeah the suburbans have the movable console too. I just have a certain budget and the ones in my budget typically don’t have that option.
SUV mom here 🙋🏼♀️, currently pregnant with my third and I’m slowly creeping into that minivan life. I’d love a Ford Expedition but for the price, I could buy 2 minivans. The minivan life just seems so much more practical. What is happening to me!?😫
I was always that mom that would never drive a minivan, but now I get it. It’s too bad I just bought my Ford Explorer 6 months ago. It was perfect for 2 kids, but now with the third on the way, I’m dreading it lol
I have 3 kids (7,4 and 10 months) and have an Explorer. I’ve never really found having doors an inconvenience? 🤷♀️ It’s definitely still manageable with 3 kids.
Nice review, I think your perspective of Mom Review is good but also give so many details many reviewers glance over. Great job! Only thing I might suggest is talking suspensions differences in trim models as that does really effect the ride. Husband and I just purchased a 21 Denali and was also cross shopping the GM stable mates (Tahoe z71, Yukon at4, and Escalade) and 18/19 used versions of these too (they crazy with prices these days! We personally thought the new Denali rode so nice and to us was worth the tech upgrades you get in the higher price. Not sure were you are in MO, but my husband just accepts a job for UMHC so if you’re in that area key a look out for tri colored standard length. Great job again!
I know you keep calling it a car, but a Yukon Denali is classified as a truck. Same with the Ford Expedition Max it is classified as a Truck as well. SUV's in general are all classified as trucks and some of your smaller SUV's can be crossovers.
I thought the same but realized there's no head rest for the 3rd row middle seat most likely so the driver has no obstructions when using their rear view mirror.
I agree about the front end . . the designers could have cropped the front of the hood to slope down a little and move that horizontal edge trim down to the "new" top of the grill ( making the grill a few inches shorter ) It wouldn't stand out so much that way. I guess they WANT it to stand out !!! I don't mind all the tiny chrome pieces throughout the grill - it's just TOO BIG !!! I'm waiting to see if they do something like this in the fall to the 2024 models, then I'll buy one. GREAT video, as usual !!!
Surprised no DVD/Blueray player for the kids. Thank you for this! Looking to upgrade our 2015 Yukon XL Denali and can’t decide what we want...but NO minivan 😁
ours has the rear entertainment option, which is great. it has 2 hdmi ports and a full power outlet so we bought a $50 roku streaming stick for one of them and the kids can stream netflix, disney plus, youtube, youtube tv, noggin, hulu, etc right on the screens attached to the back of the front seats
Can you please try to do a video on the Dodge Durango or any Jeep .. im a mom of 1 but looking for an SUV or bigger car since I see a few more little ones in the near future
I have a 2021 Yukon XL Denali and absolutely love it! Mine actually has a few more features than the one you toured, such as the 2nd row entertainment system. My Yukon XL Denali has all of the available features except for two (the power console and the air ride adaptive suspension). I have a rear facing car seat and a high back booster in my 2nd row captain’s chairs and have no problem getting my daughter into her rear facing seat. If you slide the front passenger seat all the way forward and slide the 2nd row passenger seat all the way back, there is plenty of room to access the 3rd row, even with a high back booster placed in the seat. My husband drives a Ram 3500 dually and I do not feel like my Yukon XL drives like a truck at all.
I got the 2022 Denali ultimate package. Mine came with the air ride suspension and the updated digital cluster. Coming from a BMW X5, I think the Yukon is a pleasure drive. I also have a pickup truck. It doesn’t feel like one. I’m also really glad my friends talked me into an XL over the standard wheel base.
@@katiesays I am coming out of a new x5 too and waiting for a Denali to arrive! I only have two kids so did not go with xl. Should I have? I need advice 😂🙏 It’s not too late.
@@shannonroper8815 I really, really, really love having the xl but I utilize the third row a lot. I’d go for it. I drive my kids’ friends around a lot. I never have to put the third row down because the trunk is still huge.
Love that you finally did a video on the Yukon! I'm in the market to trade my minivan to finally get a SUV - looking at Yukon XL vs Escalade ESV (I have four growing boys). If you have input, would appreciate any feedback. Would love to see an Escalade ESV on your channel!
GREAT JOB, I WILL BE BUYING 2 NOT NEW. BUT NEWER, GMC)-YUKONS THIS YEAR. I LOVE THE ULTIMATE- XL DENALI WITH 6.2 LTR GAS ENGINES IM LOOKING AT 2021 AND NEWER I KNOW THERE MINT❤
6:40 - All infotainment units should be integrated into the dash like that. I can’t stand the current automaker trend, where it looks like they forgot the infotainment unit, and just glued a tablet/iPad onto the dash. The iPad look, makes a car look less premium; Like the infotainment was an afterthought.
Door is so far away you can barely reach it to close the door. Seat looks long enough it fully supports your legs.. looks super comfy The touch screen and all the shiny gloss plastic is going to be a nightmare to keep clean
This mom loves her 2021 Yukon XL! Get GMC to give you one to drive for a while, you will fall in love. I wish it had a fully electronic dash as well, but I am obsessed with this car!! I feel like the coolest mom driving it. I went from a 2013 Buick Regal to a 2021 Yukon XL - what a change, but I will never drive a little car again! My two year old is blown away by the third row seats and has called them the "funny seats" ever since we picked it up! Already took it on a road trip from Michigan to Florida and she was a great road trip car! Also - thankful I got my hands on one as inventory is so bad like you have talked about on your Instagram! Love your stuff :)
I agree, no sunshade for the second role is a deal breaker for me for a $88k car. Otherwise I really like this Denali as it is much nicer than a suburban ZR/limited but not look like a celebrity chauffeur car like Caddie Escalate. If I buy such a lux truck, the last thing I want is everyone thinks I am Kardashian’s chauffeur. Great detailed review! Only thing I want more for this car is 35’ screen like the new Escalator.
I love that you called it a boat. I drove a 1999 Suburban in high school and I ever so lovingly nicknamed her "the boat" because its just how they drive LOL (even 20 years later).
Im not even sure GM is targeting families for this vehicle anymore. My wife and I have 4 kids. They play sports, and we tow boats and snowmobiles. We have a 2015 Yukon XL SLT that is the perfect vehicles for us, but it has been terribly unreliable with just this year needing a new transmission, front struts and now the rear AC doesn't work. So in looking at replacing, we need to come up with a monthly mortgage payment to get into one of these. On top of that, GM completely missed the mark with the rear entertainment. Our current Yukon has a front and rear flip down tv screen with DVD player. Well GM has replaced that with only two front seat head rest screens exactly where every kid is going to place their hands everytime they climb in and out of the car, and where every forward facing toddler in a car seat loves to place their feet. And for the passengers in the 3rd row, sorry you are just out of luck. Also, they removed the DVD player so you have to stream everything. Want to plug in a Firestick or Roku device? Well that power to it will turn off at every light if you have it plugged into the 110 outlet and you are now forced to pay for the Hotspot as well unless you download everything ahead of time. Another observation, when you flip the middle row up to climb into the back, then fold them down, they will be all the way slid forward. It will be a challenge for any kid to lift the handle and slide the seat backwards. Again, I'm not sure who GM's target audience is with this vehicle, but it doesn't appear to be younger families.
I’m so glad you wrote this. I’m looking at a used 21 Yukon Denali but we have 4 kids and I prefer the bench. All your complaints were all my concerns. DVD system, 3rd row can’t see it, Roku stick can be a nightmare on the road, and most importantly difficulty getting in and out of 3rd row. Does the second row even slide for more legroom ? I may keep my choices between expedition max, Lincoln nav l or wagoneer L
We're coming from a 2016 Yukon Denali into a 2021 Yukon XL Denali. One of the features that we loved in our 2016 is one we didn't even know we wanted: Electronic Child Safety Locks. The 2021s don't have them. With children varying in age from 1 month to 18 years old, being able to control the rear safety locks with a push of a button was such a convenience. Super disappointed that the new generation is missing it!
they have manual child locks on the sides of the doors, which is very odd for a 2021+ vehicle. what a pain in the butt to remember every time. what genius thought that was a good idea
I have a 2012 Yukon xl Denali. They all drive like trucks but you get used to it. I love how spacious they are. We are looking to upgrade in the next year or so and I’ll definitely be sticking with Yukon xl Denali for sure.
What would you pick for your family between the Yukon XL and expedition Max? You seemed to be more excited while reviewing the expedition. Great review as always.
@@heatherkarp7664 I have 4 kiddos! 9, 6, 5 & 3! 🤣 I love the new captain seats they have as well! I was looking at a Kia Telluride too but I’m in love with my Pilot idk if I could give up my Honda!
@@ToriAdams420 I think you would be totally fine with 4 kiddos. Our dealership was awesome and let us put all the seats in and take everyone for a drive fully loaded.
@@heatherkarp7664 Oh that’s awesome!! I’ll definitely have to go test drive one & see how it is! My husband is a mechanic & a lady told him she didn’t like the way it drove 🤷🏼♀️ but my Honda drives & accelerates like a DREAM so I can’t see how the new ones would be bad!
I’ve owned the regular length version of this car since October 27th and I can tell you three design flaws that moms in particular might not like. 1, The second row has awful hooks instead of handles for dry cleaning which are completely useless. You can hang max one item on each hook and it likely won't stay up till the time you get home. 2, The window on the tailgate is so high up that even me at 6”2 has trouble opening just the window (not the whole tailgate) and putting bags or whatever in, and then getting it out later via just the window those times you are worried about other things spilling out by opening the whole back door. This problem is the same across the entire platform whether you get the Yukon, XL, Tahoe, Suburban, or Escalade. 3, The infotainment screen should be above the top air vents, not below. The position it is in now causes you to look too far away from the road IMO. All this being said, it's a great vehicle that I love, a major step up from the Tahoe I had before, and finally, it's masculine appearance is what made me buy it over the Escalade. Finally, if I were to criticize anything about her review it's that at the end she chose the SLT over the Denali trim citing the price difference for cosmetics when in fact the Denali comes with an entirely different engine and suspension that is shared with the Escalade. This leads into my second criticism which is that she love, love, LOVED the Escalade, but then complained here that the Denali “drives like a truck” when they are in fact the identical engine and suspension and drive train. Yes she drove a regular length Escalade instead of the XL which makes a difference but still, was the branding and more mom-friendly look of the Cadillac swaying her perspective?
@@zadzilko So do you love it--or does it have flaws you'd wish to change? I'm considering the Z71.... Six kids, and although some are in college, when they all come home we like to have space in one car.
I think all GMC vehicles have the most basic looking interiors! I love the Yukon Denali but I always feel the interiors cheapen an otherwise beautiful vehicle.
Dear followers!! Don't let the beautiful pictures confuse you . Anyone who buys a new car from GENERAL Motors the chance you threw your money into the trash is very large. In this company there is no customer service, the company's management does not care at all, if you have a problem or a malfunction, you can only pray to God there is a chance that the help will come faster. GM is a very dangerous company, be careful and keep your money safe.!!!👎👎👎👎👎😬👎😬👎👎Share so more people don't get screwed.GM is a big bluff
I just watched two LAX moms trying to back their DENALI XLs into spots on either side of me. They should be banned lol they were such bad drivers it was hilarious. Get a XC90 if you need a scool bus sized car.
Lol not the best review I’ve seen … I want to know what she drives ? Lol cuz I have suburban 2018 and I love it so much ! I have sensors and parking is NEVER an issue ! It’s a huge car lol drive a Prius than
So one of the things I didn’t like about the expedition max was the visibility between the 1st and 2nd row so you’re saying the new Yukon’s have the same issue? Did you feel like the expedition had better visibility?
I think you need to create a score sheet. You complained about a lot of things. It would have been interesting at the end to see you say, I like the look, but score wise it got a 6/10 or something like that. Personally, I see no reason anyone needs this thing. They are so annoying to everyone else on the road, pickup lines, parking lots, etc Just seems very image driven vs practical.
I've had a GMC Yukon XL since 2004 and I can attest to their practicality for the last two decades. They are *extremely* practical when you have 3+ children who play sports, any kind of travel, and for utility work and towing. Also, great to take kids to college in. Obviously, they aren't for everyone, but I doubt they are annoying to everyone else on the road.
Not fan of the square look! These types of trucks should look rugged more edgy not bling. Yes, it does look smashed in the front! Too pricey! Overall it works for me. I need the room. I have the 2004 Yukon XL makes amazing u turns without having to stop back up. Prefer bench seat in second and third row! No need for tv that would be a waste. Interior especially for darker color vehicles should have dark color inside. I still love it.
