The spoke wheels is more flexible than the alloy wheels, the spokes ones are very good for offroad rides because they give you more control on the suspensions because of the flexible construction. Alloy wheels are rigide and at a great unevenness they can break. Spokes also have good ride on the road. I have tested both wheels and i vote for spokes because of the control. Cheers for the video and respect! Love and peace!!✌️🤗♥️

@@maxflight777 The alloy wheels are contructed for more torque and speed on the tracks and roads like bikes in the motogp and superbike etc. In the other hand the spokes wheels are made for better response on gravel grounds, jumps, cross, freestyle because of the flexibility, without this you can lose the control of the motorcycle. That is the feeling i ve got in riding, i havent ride for 4 years because of an accident..

I’ve had the GS and I constantly had range anxiety. I remember a road trip in 2008 from Coeur d’Alene ID to Las Vegas where I tried not to ride freeways and thought I was going to get stranded south of Boise. Not fun. For that fact alone I would and probably will buy the GSA next. Also, I added most of the accessories the GSA has so for the difference in price it makes it a good value.

I got the opportunity to ride both for long period of time on and off road. I'm 1.88 high, weight 95kg. I can say that both bikes perform the same for average rider, the LC will be easier to handle for commuting because it's narrower than the Adventure. But for long rides, the GS Adventure is the bike to chose because you won't need to stop at every gas station. Also the bigger fuel tank and wind shield will provide wind protection and reduce fatigue.

Personal choice. When I changed from GS to GSA I told my dealership: If I can handle the bulk I'll order one. They lend me one for 2 days and within 30 minutes I knew I'd be ordering one. Why: bigger fueltank, more comfort on motorways and I won't call her pretty, but she shurely has presence. BTW: I am 5'6" and 150 lbs.

The frames are not the same. I don't know why almost no one mentions this. The rake is different on the GSA having longer wheelbase subsequently. And it makes GSA ride quite differently. In corners especially, GSA has to be pushed down compared to regular GS that rather falls into the corner.
@LMO169
@LMO169 8 месяцев назад
The front and rear frames are identical. The GSA has a steeper rake, therefore has a shorter wheelbase, so it turns in more easily to compensate for the higher weight. 1525mm on the GS and 1504mm on the GSA

@phnates
@phnates 3 года назад
Correct sir, cast wheels are unsuitable for off road. Spoked wheels flex for that very purpose. You could ride a GS or any bike with cast wheels off road but the bigger the pot holes and the tougher the terrain, the more likely you’d buckle a wheel where you would be less likely to with spoked 👍🏼
@romanlemeshkov5657

It's a grey area. I've had an odd-ball 1200 with cast wheels at BMW off-road school with TKC 80s on it, and they handled Mojave gentle desert riding with no issues. Needless to say, spokes will take much more abuse in the ruts.
@Loiczzr

Rodrigo, you certainly have the height for it. I do think that bigger guys can handle the bid Adv off-road with no problems. There's much video evidence out there to prove it. When I was at the BMW off-road school I saw some bigger dudes toss around these bikes like they were 650s. With tires suitable for the task and some skill you can go anywhere. I took a few trips on my 1150GS to Death Valley years ago, and I got a lot of respect for these machines. Sure, you fall over a few times, then you pick it up and move on. Don't fear the beast. Tame it!

@toma.2814 3 года назад
If you're only doing paved or gravel, I don't think you need to go low suspension or chasis with the GSA. I'm 30" inseam and ride perfectly at lowered seat on GSA. Only reason to go lower would be if you'll be doing a lot of city and heavy traffic stop&go
@romanlemeshkov5657
@romanlemeshkov5657 3 года назад
Agree with Tom, but something to consider. In your attempt to get closer to the ground with the low seat you will be locked in the dip and shorten the seat to peg distance - less comfort, more knee bend. You will not be able to flatfoot a reg size adv. But not to worry. As you own the bike for awhile you will get comfortable with its tipping points and balance. It's a cliche, but you become more "one with the machine" and flat-footing it becomes not at all a priority.
@zeedustrakok
@zeedustrakok 3 года назад
I can only tippy tow my GSA (with low seat). I started off with a low GS in 2013 and moved to a normal GSA in 2015 and just use a lower seat. I am not a fan of lowerd suspension since I scraped my centerstand quite a few times on the lowered one and never have on my GSAs. It is an easy bike to stabilise and I usually look where i put my feet (usually just one). The only thing I can't do is push the bike front or back when I am sitting on it, so I usually get off to push it back. And the leg angle? My legs are rather short, so the angle is less acute with a low seat than most people with normal seat. I still am rather fit, so using the tows on one foot to keep it upright at a stop isn't an issue.
@chrishart8548

The Touratech made BMW branded top case and panniers are much inferior to Touratech branded. They don’t even have a handle. Their thin. Bad corners. The rack is also thinner. You need to buy liners with handles if you buy the BMW top case and panniers.

OTD it will cost you around $30,000 for the GSA with all the options...

Agree. Comfort, safety and performance these bikes are famous for causes complexity in design, but BMW has made their machines more reliable and inexpensive to own than ever before. With this badge the expectations are high, but for every rider who's had an issue there are fifty others who will tell you theirs is the best and the most solid machine they've ever owned, including yours truly. You can get a diagnostic tool, and BMW twins are the easiest and most accessible engines to work on. We can spend weeks pinning bmw to honda or ktm to bmw, etc but if your ride one of these, you'll know why you'd want to own one. You will be impressed, guaranteed.

Note that gasoline is 6#/gallon whereas water is ~ 8-1/2

Only in the US. The rest of the world (including metric countries) is 10 pounds of water per gallon. About 7-1/4 pounds for gasoline. Man I wish the States would wake up and go metric.

I’m laughing! I have an X5 (new) which is basically shit (unless you want to look cool outside the restaurant!) and a 4 year old 520D which is phenomenal! (All the car you ever need) The 520D has far better comfort / faster and superior handling than the bloated ill thought out and unreliable X5 !
