2021 Hyundai Palisade DIY 7-Way Trailer Harness 

This walk through was extremely helpful. I also have the 2021 Palisade and it came with the factory hitch and 4 pin trailer wire. I had to make one adjustment on the reverse wire set-up as it was opposite of what is show in the video. I called Hyundai, the dealer, and numerous parts departments and the only thing they are aware of is the 4 pin connector. But, they advertise the 2021 as being pre-wired for the 7 pin, but they don’t sell a 7 pin, unless you use the Kia 7 pin as was mentioned. Anyway, thanks again.

The 2021 palisade is factory wired for a brake controller. The 4 wire plug for the controller is taped low behind the plastic fuse panel and if you use the Kia Telluride 7 pin harness for the rear that Hyundai doesn’t offer it’ll come with the 4 pin plug adapter for whatever controller you buy that you can easily connect to the controller harness at the controller.

Hi, great video, you explained everything very clearly, Could you tell me please how/why the 2020 palisade s different to do that installation? My 2020 has the same Tekonsha harness for the 4way. Thanks

10:47 I think the brake light didn't come on. The way the echo brake controller works is that its accelerometer senses stopping motion and apply brake signals. It doesn't now when you step on the brake paddle.

Thanks for the walk through, it was very helpful. I just bought a 2021 Calligraphy and will be adding a tow set up like this. Do you mind sharing what model of trailer you have, and the weights? I would also be interested to hear your feedback on the self-leveling suspension feature and how you find it works in this set up.

Thanks for the information. It been tough to get towing information from Hyundai. I have a 2020 Hyundai Palisade Sel (2wd) and I am going to be towing a Nucamp Tab 400 with a dry weight of 2956 lbs. and tongue weight dry 318 lbs. Did your Palisade struggle to pull your rig. Did you drive through mountains? Are you using a weight distribution tow hitch? Did you exceed the Palisade's Occupant and Cargo Capacity (OCC)?

Hi, Are you using a brake controller inside the vehicle or the electric brakes on the trailer work just off that 7way plug? Will this work for the 2020 also? Thanks

Hi, could you please comment on the Curt Echo break controller? I have ordered the RedArc TowPro, but as you may know it needs wire to run from the battery to the inside of the vehicle and from inside to the back, the Echo is a plug and play, but is so long that it may break while doing a sharp maneuver, Thank you
