The walls of the cone appear to be solid, but these structures are very close to melting temperature just a few inches into the wall. The walls are also not as solid as you might think. More like a big pile of hot sand. Eventually, the weight of the semi-viscous material in the wall becomes greater than it can support, and it collapses back into the caldera.

The excellent camera work is so crystal clear, and your wonderful narration is terrific. This is my favourite volcano site.

I don’t mind the wind. It lets me know what the weather is like and how windy. What do the little signs say?

I cant believe they let people up there so close to volcano. If it really decides to explode you all are in danger.

Great video! One thing: would it be possible to shield your microphone from the wind?
@chernyl26

I was thinking the same. A mic muff would do wonders witht he wind sound.

I like it just like you are doing... Get to hear background talking, the volcano, and the wind you are standing / tolerating... So we can see this.. Thank you. !

Whyare the eruptions spasmodic? Is it on the same principle as a water geyser?
@lynettethrasher7236

It does look like it is traveling underground now instead of above unless I'm missing something

What does the explosion mean is happening in the volcano?

Those walls can't hold back the lava forever. Where do they want it to go because it Will fill up that area and go the the ocean eventually
@ElveeKaye
@ElveeKaye 3 года назад
According to one video that I saw, they're trying to keep the lava away from a highway so they won't have to rebuild it later on. I don't think it will work forever. Those little mounds of dirt look puny.

What does blue smoke mean
@ElveeKaye
@ElveeKaye 3 года назад
I was wondering if it's actually steam from the water that's trapped in the molten rock as it boils off. If not, maybe sulfur? Carbon dioxide?
