Those bikes are the best plated dirt bikes you can get. I have a 2019 KTM 500 SD / 24,000km or 15,000miles / 490 hours with just general maintenance 👊✊ At 400 Hours valved were still in specs
Agreed. I have a '17 FE501 with similar numbers and she's running strong (great leak-down numbers). Decent oil, regular changes, 100 hour valve checks. Always ear-to-ear smiles when riding.
@@mattbillenstein No tear-down and this is not untypical. Many are going 600+ hours without a teardown. Clean oil, clean air filters and no gadgets to "make them run better" (i.e., hotter and more stress on internal parts). Remove evap smog stuff (that's passive) and that's it.
just picked up this same bike, it is such a hooligan on the street, WOW. It is literally like just riding a straight up dirt bike on the street. I have 250 TPI XCW as well, and the ergos are SO SIMILAR
How does the 500 compare to the 250 on single track/off road? I have 250 xcf and am thinking of selling it as well as my street bike and combining for this. I’m okay with the compromise on the street but just wondering if i would miss the dirt only bike or if the 500 would be just as good off road.
@@Ivan-mg5nx it is definitely capable of handling basically anything the 250 does, but the 500 feels more relaxed the 250 more attacking... the 500 definitely needs tires, but otherwise would be a great bike for trails and singletrack . I’m taking this one to Utah in the spring !!!
Just bought the same bike, 21 500 EXC. Very excited to see how modding goes for you guys to help steer my bike in the right direction! Coming from a heavy MX background I definitely see some changes coming in the power department and tires. The factory tail section is lame too, glad you guys are coming up with a replacement!
I like the plastics though the graphic has got to go. jest change the plastics and keep the original for when I sell it. new cooler graphics on a different color plastic. so I don't look the same as all my buddies. when one guy gets a new bike the rest follow.
Wow, good Info. You make it sound like the bike is a piece of junk stock though. I'm thinking about buying one but I'm not ready to spend another 10 grand on aftermarket parts. I mx race on a 250sx with only a PC silencer and have been very successful and happy with it.
not even the option of adding a kick starter. You can add the auto-tune module to the PC and I believe set the AF ratio to what you want. I wonder if that could use the stock O2 sensor.
I've seen some reports of the mudguard wearing on the rear shock mount on the swingarm - is that still an issue on these bikes? I'm going to be setting one up this month.
Re power/performance - if I'm happy with 43hp, is there any reason to change any of it? The early efi bikes had some running problems tho, but a review I saw of the 2020 exc-f said it ran pretty good stock.
Great video. I'm going to be picking up one of these 2021bikes in a couple of weeks. Thinking to use the Fastway Pro Moto endcap and remove the smog crap for reliability using your kit. Do you think the stock ECU with o2 sensor will be able to manage the mixture satisfactorily, with just those 2 modifications? I'm a C level Super Senior rider, trail and Enduro type riding. Looking for crisp low grunt and mileage. Suggestions...
I recently purchased the 20 model year. I would love to hear your opinion of the bike with an open loop ecu, fmf slip on and headers as that is what i am wanting to do.
Im in New Jersey and you cant get any off-road vehicles plated out here except for a couple unicorns and EX-C's.. I paid $2000 for a decent condition 2001 KTM EX-C 250 2stroke. Im in the process of rebuilding the bike know and i already have ofcers on it because it has a plate.. Im not planning to get rid of it because they are rare to find so cheap and as states crack down on emission laws its going to be harder to get them..
@@MasterBlasterSr not an option... But we still survive... Just get a bike with plates or register your quad and your ok.. A ticket is the worst thing unless your from out of state or not legit... Then you're screwed, maybe..
I sold my 2014 xcfw 250 and ordered a 2021 xcfw 350. I assume the new bike will have more power, or did they clog it up so much it will be comperable or less?
I hope you see this!!!! So I bought a pro moto exhaust tip and the ejk piggy back tunner and put everything on and then went to start it and it won’t start and the lights on the tunner won’t turn on I tryed seeing if it was the ground but it wasn’t and everything plugs in nice it just won’t turn the lights on the tunner so please help!!
Are there part numbers for the FMF header and exhaust can for the 2020 and 2021 500 EXC-F bikes? Can't really seem to find much, or will the parts from a XCF-W model work?
I have an '18 with white side plastics and they look like shit after every ride.. my pants grind dirt into them and it won't wash off.. Big brown blotches. it only whitens up with a contact-cleaner rubdown. I would be into the grey.
Almost every one of my bikes since 1997 has been (made) white. They are super easy to keep looking nice. WD-40 or something oil based takes staining out. The plastic never gets white stress marks like colored plastic. You can sand the hell out of areas chewed up by boots or crash damage. Finish it off with 1500-2500 grit and spray down with silicone spray or ceramic and it will look great. Silver and grey look crappy pretty quick. Not as bad as black, but the 2000-2001 KTMs had silver and I pretty much hated it. Yamaha blue is the worst! They should supply a heat gun with Yamaha purchase 🤣
@@joshsmith9058 Eh I wouldn't be bothered. If it broke I'm sure the dealer would be willing to cooperate. Also Husky should be coming up with a little stronger subframe replacement part.
RMS 1290, that’s one of the most effective boosters The trick is, advertisers use word play. When they say it raises the octane 3 points, it’s usually .03 not 3.0. This is from fixyourdirtbike com “On the one hand, a high-quality octane booster can deliver the octane increases they claim. On the other hand, many such products on the market do not provide anywhere near what they claim. Many of these products also use points to advertise their octane rating gain, which is often 0.1RON, which means that flashy bottle by the AutoZone checkout advertising “30 point increase!” is only a +3 octane increase”
