@@brittanybrown7792 LOL .... my part is coming in this Friday . Got lucky enough to snag a new one on eBay this week. So next week I’ll make a new vide with the part so ppl can see the difference. 😎
Great video. Do you happen to know what machines/years this applies to? For instance, do you think this could be done with any of the 270cc's on Kymco's machines? As we all know there is not a lot of information out there.
@@blabanieh Hey, unfortunately no. After doing a little research I found out Kymco has a larger model which is a 450i MXU that is comparable when you are looking at quads. If I remember correctly I did do some research and I think they are all restricted in this manner but like many people are finding out this information is difficult to come by. FYI I came across a really nice Kymco basically new 450i with a snow plow for a really good price. I let it pass me by and it still bothers me I didn't get a chance to go pick it up.
@@HexaFox damn! some opportunities are hard to come by, that sounded like a good one. Just purchased a 2023 mongoose 270i to be delivered this week... hoping there's no restrictions! I will report back...
@@HexaFox Confirming there is no restrictor on the 2023 270i mongoose! There is option to loosen screw at the throttle to increase/decrease engine output & speed but no restriction that necessitates removal like in this video
now i am puzzled so if you take off those 'rings' you have more power, but in order to have faster top speed you need to change that drive pulley collar all together??? so if i want more power but dont care for top speed i just need to take off those rings -no new parts required???
I’m not sure. Kinda hard to find anything for this quad. Only thing I’ve seen is a GSE exhaust, and better jet kits. I can’t find what air filter to upgrade to either. If you come across anything let’s us all know.
I actually bought the only one he had on eBay but here’s his page. Part # 22105-LBA7-900 www.ebay.com/str/leesonsmotors You can order from other sites but they are on back order nationwide. You can probably buy it from a UK site and have it shipped.
@@that1chile585 I picked mine up today and some how mine is topping out at somewhere between 51 and 53. I ran it against my brute force 300 and sportsman 450. It actually beat the brute force which tops out at 51. No idea how tho
@@havior dude that’s awesome! I took my quad out today to stoddard wells near barstow CA. It did amazing minus the boss drive face. I topped out at 38mph. I have my part but haven’t got a chance to put it in yet. Hopefully I’ll get a chance on Thursday 😎.
Sometimes it just sticks. If you took out the screws you just gotta pry it off or use a mallet and knock it off. You’ll probably break the gasket but it’ll be fine for the most part.
Not sure bro. I’m in no way a mechanic. I just don’t mind getting my hands dirty tryna do work myself. I’d call a dealer and ask them. I’d say try it out and comment back your results so others will know if that happens to them.
@@that1chile585 not only for younger but on atv's as well because of homologation cause in europe with limiter you register it is as tractor and as such top speed limit is 60kmh, plus mxu300R is widely used for renting to tourists so limiter is more than preferred for that usage
When you took the drive pulley nut off, what direction did you turn it to loosen? I have an MXU 270 and using a holder wrench like what you have and a breaker bar, I can not for the life of me get it off. I've broken the holder wrench and fins off of the pulley.
Are u talking about the spanner wrench? (The “Y” holder) it’s the same as everything. Right right left loose. I also got mine stuck but a used a little hammer to banged it off. Little by little.
@@that1chile585 Yes, I had the spanner wrench holding the pulley and the handle of it jammed in on of the holes in the ATV frame right below the pulley...I used a 1/2 breaker bar and tries to break the nut counter clockwise. The spanner wrench broke and I ended up breaking alot of fins off the pulley. I don't know what to do at this point. I'm probably going to try to find a stronger spanner wrench and get an electric impact.
@@ryanhafner8531 oh damn, ya that’s how I did it. But it didn’t break anything. I bought one on Amazon. I just typed in universal spanner wrench. But it honestly wasn’t the best. I’d talk to a dealer and see how those fins will affect the quad.
@@that1chile585 Finally, after buying an expensive spanner wrench, a new battery powered impact, using WD-40 and heat...I finally got the damn nut off for the drive pulley. Put the MXU 300 Boss Drive shaft in, put it back together and my MXU 270 now hits 51mph!!! I could not believe it. Barely went 36mph before I did this. Thank you for this video and for your help.
What I did was press the throttle in while I was unscrewing it, when you get to a certain point you’ll feel the throttle kinda go loose. Go back a lil and tighten it before you hit that spot. When I measure it it’s at exactly 1 inch
I found mine on eBay, but if you google the part number it should bring up online stores where you can order it. I also think you can order it from a Kymco dealer.
I’m not sure, but if you can try and let us know that would be cool. I actually want to buy that quad next year. I think the euro looks bad ass. If your quad is only going like 20 mph I’m sure it’s restricted. If it’s going 38 mph then your already good to go.
@@that1chile585 yeah it feels like it barely goes 20 but idk if I should wait till I break it in more. I’m going to el mirage this weekend put more hours on it. Yeah it look awesome I liked the style a lot just disappointed on the power
@@4rolando download a speedometer app and test the speed, that’s what I did. Once u de restrict it you’ll love it. It really will feel like a different bike.
