Great review, very professional, unbiased and informative. Enough to put me off trying one. I think the noise and constantly shifting gears would irritate me too much. Maybe a 2 litre engine would be better with the gearing, but I cannot imagine it being quieter.
THIS MAN DOES NOT LIE😂Bought mine about 8months ago and have also noticed how the 9 gears simply do not complement 1.5L engine hence causing the jerkiness & loudness - Would have gone for a 3 series if I could go back (Much more refined engine/transmission).
Have not finished watching it yet, but before i forget, i gotta say something here... what a solid video, mate! ... the music editing is spot on as well. Thanks for the good work 💪
We have a 2018 C200 2 door white coupe with every extra including Apple Carplay, its our 2nd car of this type and brand, its quiet, has all the power we need around town and highway speed is max 100KPH here anyway, had 17,000kms on the clock when we purchased now 25,000, have it serviced by euro mechanics for much less than Mercedes dealer price. Only 2 of us so plenty of room, good size boot so cant go wrong IMO.
I have the 2020 C200 coupe model and it's an absolute dream to drive. Chose every option there was to offer, otherwise, what's the point! You need to experience the driving assistance stuff- really cool!
@@shaundasilveira3356 I got the standard 😫😫.... we broke over here 😂, but I can’t complain coming from an a-class #major upgrade. I bet you got the premium plus?
Is it a rental? Gearbox learns as you drive. It makes a profile of your driving. If it is driven by different people all the time I guess it messes that profile up. You should have reset it and drive it a few hundred/thousand KMs to have good results.
I’ve had this for a year and the acceleration is above average. It’s not a hardcore sports car but it is quick, does your 0-60 in just under 7 seconds. Plus, I’ve topped it out at 240km/hr lol. Just a fun car to drive overall but definitely way faster cars in this price segment!
Awesome review thanks! Interesting to hear about the weird gear changes on the motorway. I’m looking at one of these or an A3 S-line and I dunno what to go for
Concidentally I am searching for either one of these or A3 Black Edition now the pandemic has dropped off a bit. Please let me know how you get on with your search.
Sorry I'm asking you for advice Carnology...I'm due getting a new car (on a 4yr PCP plan) in the coming months. Do you think it'd be an unwise decision to choose this exact same car (w/ Premium package) knowing that M-B are stopping production of the C Coupe this summer? Surprised the Multimedia/Nav doesn't even have a touch screen! How clunky is the swivel wheel to use? I'm worried that the systems might not age very well over the coming 4yrs? But I absolutely love how this car looks and the interior cabin looks very cozy! Please help.
Your comments on the gearbox and cruise control are waffle pal, must just be that particular car because my C class coupe is perfect with gears and never struggles maintaining the speed I set it at
@@wilmsg3875 Had it for just over 12 months, 0 issues with anything cars been perfect, I don’t find the engine loud other than when you floor it but that’s to be expected
To much technology takes away driving skills reversing cameras are great unless you need reading glasses plus distance glasses the bleepers are much better I had been looking at the merc opted for an second hand Audi TT took a year to find one with the right spec and colour as Audi seem bad for everything being an option I’ve never regretted it it’s the best car I’ve ever driven.
Hey should your Beamer be louder When the benz has a bigger engine??? Btw both pretty small engines i Dont like that, maybe u are used to electric cars or something with even smaller engines, is That the case ?
A good question. The Mercedes has a standard balanced 4 cylinder engine which should be smoother and quieter compared to the BMW which has an “unbalanced” 3 cylinder engine which are more known for vibrations and running seemingly rough due to their uneven firing nature. For that reason, the 3 cylinder engine has the potential to be louder than a very refined 4 cylinder, but most likely if they’re both well refined engines they would be about equal. In this case, BMW have engineered a fantastic 3 cylinder, the same 3 cylinder used in their hybrids such as the i8. The Mercedes is loud at idle and also loud when driving, it’s not a pleasant noise, the 4 cylinder turbo engine is just loud, but it sounds grumbly, it’s not a nice engine sound. The 3 cylinder BMW on the other hand, it is quiet at idle and smooth to drive, it only gets loud when you rev it out and the sound is quite pleasant as it sounds similar to a 6 cylinder engine. I previously owned a bmw 316i which had a 4 cylinder petrol, it didn’t sound very good either, but it was much quieter than the Mercedes. The engine in this Mercedes just seems unrefined. Overall that’s what let’s it down, if you chose this car with a bigger engine I’m sure it would absolutely transform it and be much better to drive! At the end of the day you expect a premium brand like Mercedes to have engines that sound quiet when you’re driving around town in comfort mode and sound loud when you drive like a maniac and throw it in sport mode. The BMW does this, this Mercedes engine is just loud all the time without sounding good.
@@Carnology mate after driving this car for 4 months totally agree with you the engine is loud and the gears changing and auto stop is annoying me so much. I’m actually thinking of getting the c300d
I love the tech in the car and the screen etc but the engine is the biggest let down. The older C200 2.0 version gets better mpg and is just a more refined engine overall. The old 2.0 petrol engine is still a little diesel sounding to me too but the 1.5 is horrible. Thanks for the review to let me know to steer well away from this car
It aint the renault engine though mate. The C200 DIESEL engines are in cooperation with Renault, as well as the entry level pre-facelift and facelift CLA 180 petrol engines. This 1.5l C200 engine is from Mercedes-Benz.
@@idareyouboigaming7182 Interesting I myself have a 2.1 C220 been running very smoothly without any hiccups so far, not sure if it has a turbo or not but it sure does kick off the lights 😂
I wouldn't go as far as saying it is superior in every way. But you are right about the c300d being great. Owning one makes it very hard for me to switch cars. I am currently looking at the new XE and 4 series, and then I get in my own car and think why the hell do I need to change.
