I'm sticking with the Nest Hello! We love the wide angle on the Nest Hello! It covers all our front door & 80 percent of the front yard. 24/7 recording is a must for us.

I installed this yesterday and I'm impressed with it. I have the Ring Pro 2. I do like the features of the new Nest though. Other than I agree with you about only having 3hrs of video storage. They need to up that to at least 12hrs. I found that the night vision was far superior to the Ring Pro 2. The notifications are good. I have it hard wired. I'm not a fan of the Google Home app though. That needs to be revised/updated. Other than that I'm very pleased with it. Thanks for your review!
@@SteveDOES I can say that the Ring Pro 2 is very good if not the best so far. I’ve had a Ring doorbell from the first edition up to the Pro 2 and saw the improvement. The only thing I’m not crazy about is the fisheye kind of view with the Pro 2. But when you tap it to a full screen the video is awesome.
@@SteveDOES Mine wasn't bad especially when you enlarged the view. I just don't know if I care for the fisheye style on the new Pro 2. Hey, separate question. I was wondering if I could hook up the Pro 2 to my back door and still have the Nest on my front door. Will that "power adaptor" interfere with the Nest on the indoor bell?
We just set this up over the weekend so far very pleased with it. Audio and video quality are very good. My 8 year old and their friends have to much fun with the nest display and the answering part. I think this is a solid buy if you need a battery. A lot of customize features even without the sub. Compared to eufy and shine others.
Thanks a lot, I saw a lot of videos and some people liked, some people hated, all because of the speedy notification and details like that, but you was the only one who "solved the issue", now I know that's a good enough doorbell if you get the subscription and use it wired. I'll probably buy one because of your video, but I'm still curios about the difference between default video quality and max video quality.
i already have 1month plus of recording on my other cameras locally. i think the new google nest doorbell will be a great addition. i receive a lot of deliveries so having that option to have 2 way coms is great and the notifications of delivery/person etc
I installed mine today, and the phone notifications are totally FUBAR. I have never gotten a single notification on my phone of any event, including ringing the doorbell. I then logged on to another phone, and got doorbell ring notifications, but other smart notifications were very intermittent at first, and now not getting them at all. By going into the app, I can tell that the events are getting recorded, but just no notifications. I've very disappointed, because if notifications worked I'd definitely be keeping it. I really like how doorbell rings are announced on the Google smart speakers, and video streamed to Google smart screens. But, if I can't reliably get notifications to the phone then it's useless to me.
Eufy makes good products but their outdoor cameras and doorbell are having problem handling the cold in scandinavian winter weather. For us in nothern Europe/scandinavia I think Netatmos doorbell, Reolinks doorbell or Ubiqutis doorbell are better options if you want to avoid subscriptions.
I had the same experience with the New Nest doorbell Battery so i hardwired it also, way better. I also hardwired the Nest cam battery. Over all if you can wire them , that would be the best way in my option.
Good review but I believe you might be misinterpreting the 3 hour record time. Remember that only "events" are recorded in 30 second increments for a total of 3 hours. You'll have weeks to review and download those events.
Unfortunately not. I got fooled by this and bought one. Anything that happened more than 3 hours ago is gone if you don't pay. If it is stolen when you sleep -> no recording available. As it stores only events, there will never be even 3h footage on googles servers... I really hope google corrects this.
@@MikeVideos327 Well unfortunately on the one that I have installed on my door, I cannot access any event video that has happened more than 3 hours ago. And for examle currently no event had been derected in the last 3 hours so the recording history is empty. If you want to access anything that happened more than 3 hours ago, you need to pay gor subscription.
You will only get to see events that happened in the last 3 hours without a subscription, not 3 hours worth of recordings. But they do give you a 30 day trial of the Nest Protect plan with premium features (30 day event history & facial recognition). You can set the event recordings in increments of 10s, 15s, 30s, 1 minute, 2 minute or 3 minute. I selected 1 minute so the battery lasts a bit longer. Video quality can be set high or maximum. Wake up sensitivity low, medium or high. While settings under the battery gives you three presets to choose from however the custom setting has recently disappeared. Also included for free is the ability to set detection zones. Doing so may help preserve battery life, for example ignoring road traffic, passers by or tree movement.
How can I add it to my Alexa app! I am having issues having the doorbell announce if someone is in the door in my Alexa speaker (echo, dots, and bars)? Is there a way that you are able to help me sync everything?
So do you install it NEXT to your existing doorbell or do you remove your actual doorbell and install this on the wall over the cavity where the wires come out?
My original nest Cornell died after 2.5 years. I thought about getting the new google doorbell but I heard it does not work in Canadian winter as you can’t bypass the battery even if you wire it
I don't know what doorbell you tested, but everything Nest was great.........before google bought them and screwed it all up. Instead of being able to use the Nest app, which was well designed and laid out in the simplest way so that all video streams could be seen from the home page. Google comes along, makes the Nest app no longer compatible with the new camera's and forces you to use their Google Home app, which looks as if it was designed and created in 1994. I specifically go around looking for Old, pre google nest cam's because they work well on a solid app unlike their new counterparts. Google has, as usual, screwed up a perfectly good system that didn't need any changes. Boxed all the google stuff up and returned it to get used instead.
As much as I like the new Nest products, I haven't 100% decided yet, but I'm also leaning heavily toward an all Eufy system for the house we're currently having built. Except for the Nest Protect of course. Have to have those lol.
I am in Canada, right now it is -20°C! The cold weather will stop the battery from being charged. Taking the battery out and charging it would be a hassle! My question is while it is called a battery door bell, is it still working if it is wired and the battery is out of charge? Thanks!
I have all the Products from Google nest I bought them In 2020. I have around 10 cameras. I am not getting these new versions I don't see myself charging 10 cameras and be off line while I charge them it doesn't make sense to me.
Talk and listen volume from the doorbell is very low on my unit on battery power. Not sure if that's standard but I have found similar complaints online.
Looking at my options here between Google and amazon But I hear that nest is done for and google have abandoned security. Does that mean nest subscription will also end and all updates will end for next products
The 3 hours means you can only see events that happened during the last 3h. If there was one event you have 1 video. If nothing happened during the last 3h, you have nothing. If your camera is stolen when you sleep or are at work,, most likley you have no footage of the event.
Yes, Google raised the bar by eliminating the ability for the new battery doorbell to sound announcements on Nest speakers and Hubs. WAY TO GO GOOGLE! 🙄😡 OK, after MANY hours of fruitless internet searches for a solution, I finally ran across an obscure comment stating that the mini speaker and hub needed to be reset, before the site been notification option would become available🙄
@@keifykat2647 The new doorbell? No, Google Home app only. All the new cameras only work with the Google Home app. I don’t know why they’ve decided to go this route. They should allow both apps, like they do with the other Nest cameras.
NEST left us abandoned with the old model in a app loophole between them and google when they were aquired by the tech giant.... of course forgetting about users that had the doorbell... . NEVER EVER BUY NEST... dont fall on the trap
