It took me some time to finish this one! (Outtakes at the end :))
I got a bit distracted by an ongoing, crazy construction project, but I'm still getting in the miles with the #TCSNYCMarathon just 7 weeks away.
This is Part 2 of my conversation with Karen B. my Guide Runner for the Marathon. She will guide me through the whole race because of my visual impairment.
In this part, Karen talks about Coaching and nutrition ~ plus we get a bit silly.

I'm up to some pretty long runs right now for the Marine Corps Marathon. It's comforting to know you're out there too, Gerald. But, I still don't know how you do it in the Florida heat and humidity. I know I would struggle even more than I already do if I lived there. So kudos to you! And thanks for having Karen on. If I were to have a coach, I'd want her... and not just because she has a great name. :-) Good luck in NY!

15 Miles followed by Pancakes, bananas, and syrup. That's a 2000 calorie run followed by an 800 calorie breakfast. I win.

that sounds awesome. My 18 miles Saturday showed 3100 calories burned ... extra syrup please :)

I just love your videos! This one came out just in time to get me psyched for Akron Half Marathon next weekend, followed by Wineglass 5k and Marathon the next Sunday and Towpath Marathon the next Sunday. I can not wait to see you crush NYC!

Thanks Laurie. I don't know how you do it! 18 miles training ... and I was WIPED OUT for a day ... my Marathon days are numbered. Glad you're pushing ahead. :)

im suppose to be running the nyc marathon (virtually) but my training has been off....im use to running 9 miles per day 5x per week and this past month ran 13 and 16 but i caregive for my 90 yr old mom and cant seem to get out of the home in the morning ......im use to running at 5am ie i cant stand sun and heat here in nyc...but been going later and it doesnt agree with me and then when im out for longer than 2 hrs - worry about her, etc....my anxiety, etc has caused my legs to feel heavy etc.......i ran 3 virtual marathons int he last 2 yrs - i know i can do it but mentally and physically i cant seem to get past 16 and many days cant get past 9 miles.....im 60 yrs old.

Mark ... I feel for you. The anxiety makes it that much harder. I know I had to take a looooooong step back from certain distances last year during th eheight of the pandemic because we were in transition with house sales and moves and a house build! Sometimes Life gets in the way. Marathon training takes serious time and commitment which we don't always have. I am super impressed that you continue to crank out these long distances at 60 :) That's the sign of a healthy person. I'm thinking my Marathon days are numbered. At 53, I just don't enjoy being out there for 3 or 4 or 5 hours anymore (not that I ever really did.) Thinking about you my friend. TAke care of yourself. Tanke care of your Mom ... I'm sure she gave to you for a very long time.

@@RezRuns it’s true …I dint think I enjoy these distances anymore but I think I would if my body cooperated ! In feb 2020… I went our fir my twice weekly run at 4am in manhattan and came back 26.2 mi later lol…fastest marathon for me ie 4:11! I also did it fasted lol….now I just dint have it but maybe I will get one more in if my body starts to perk up…I love your videos and music and your coach seems awesome! Can’t wait to see how you do!

So I ran the Air Force marathon virtually on Tuesday …not my best time ie 440 but sciatica and bad fueling during this virtual run did win for last 6 miles …hopefully more prepared fir nyc virtual marathon!

I too use the Galloway/Pavlov method, and I know exactly what you are talking about. I'm trying to figure. out how to break out of that, but not having much luck.
