But also coming from someone who has been hit in the face and has a friend who had to get surgery from getting hit it’s better to be safe than sorry. Sometimes on field conditions that you are not used to the ball can take a bad hop and hit you in the face and neck. I’m also a catcher so I get hit in the helmet a lot but I still wear my mask when I’m playing 3rd, 1st and even outfield just as that extra safety measure

@@sydthesquid7798 I agree. I’ve seen someone get a line drive straight back to the face mask so hard it she had a bruised outline of her mask on her face. If it makes an infielder feel more confident on the field to wear one then do it🤷🏼‍♀️ I used to play 3rd and the amount of times I’ve had line drives straight back to the face where I just threw my glove up and prayed. That started in 12U. I’ve also had a friend have to get surgery due to a ball to the face.

I broke 4 bones in my face after getting hit in the face with a ball and I was playing 2nd so if the kids feel they need to protect themselves with a face mask then it’s nobody’s place to tell them not to. Just because it didn’t happen to anyone you’ve seen doesn’t mean that it can’t or won’t happen to anyone else.

When a player gets prober fielding skills instruction there’s no need for mask on anyone except pitcher and third base. Someone that gets hit in the face besides pitcher has not been given prober instructions or they just don’t need to be playing infield. My daughter pitched and she was instructed from the age of ten tears old to just go and and assume the ball is coming back to you. Same goes for third and any other positions. When I see players getting hit in their bodies you can tell they were not expecting to get the ball. They were caught off guard. Even the outfielders were taught to that when the ball is hit it will be coming to you. Can’t tell you how many times at ball parks girls will be playing and people going by and asking why are they wearing masks? Especially the outfield. The masks are for parents that just want to make themselves feel better. Those are the parents that would put their kids in bubble wrap if the could. May daughter was coaching high school four years ago and wanting to just play pitch with someone. She said “ no wait I don’t have my mask on.” This was just playing pitch. Parents today are making their kids into fearful kids. I hate to think what their kids will be like. They won’t play at all. If parents and their kids are afraid of getting hit then they don’t need to play. My daughter played from tee ball through college and hundreds and hundred of travel bal and I never saw anyone getting hit in the face. Maybe I was lucky and didn’t see it are maybe when my daughter was playing they were taught prober fielding mechanics.

@@sydthesquid7798 outfield? Please say you are kidding me. Kids today are so fearful thanks to their over protective parents. When I see someone in the out field with a mask on I say they don’t need to be playing ball if they are that afraid of getting hit. How old are you to be wearing a mask in the outfield?

Correct. My daughter plays 12u. Her bday is 1-27. She’s 13 before the season even starts

It says 2021, and they just put it out yesterday, was wondering why they just put it out. It was live streaming yesterday.
