Amazing Review of the Retrosaurus also known as the classic dinosaurs from the 1900’s from Rebor and honestly, these looks really amazing and brilliant in my opinion and can’t wait to get those for my collection soon and as always, great video Andy.
I love this Charles R. Knight Tyrannosaurus design. Ordered mine from E. D. right after watching your review. It's gonna stand next to my Winter Wilson Rex. The old & the new, can't wait!
Hey Andy, Collect Jurassic shared a leaked image of the Dino Escape Pentaceratops and it looks amazing, it's a figure I am definitely getting as I am a huge fan of the Ceratopsian family with Triceratops being my favourite.
I have the Valley one preordered from BigBadToyStore, can't wait to get it in, especially now that you've shown them off! The jaw articulation on that one is slightly disappointing but I agree that it honestly matches the old Knight painting regardless so not a big deal. It looks like the color variants for the VHS one are heavily based on Sauron and Diablo from Primal Rage, makes me kinda glad I held off on that one for now because I'd prefer those as a fan of that old game. Great review as always Andy, looking forward to what else Rebor has planned for this line 👍
Thanks for the review. Have both of these on pre-order and I was a little concerned about what the color on Mesozoic Rhapsody would actually be...but this cleared it up. He's perfect. I love these Rexes from Rebor. They're going to make a nice evolution of our perception of T-rex once I can combine these with King Rex and Killer Queen and the currently accurate one they're working on. Also, can't wait for the Sauron and Diablo variants.
I still think Mesozoic rhapsody looks a lot more like an old allosaurus than a T. rex tbh. Even compared to the paleo art it’s supposedly based on it still feels more like those allosaurus’s you see in those old claymation films. That being said though it’s absolutely stunning and I love mine, shame the colour scheme on the box on promotional images is waaay off though.
I find it interesting that in the title they include the word "Valley". And, their prototype was more of a grey/purple that Andy mentions was similar to Gwangi's color. Makes you wonder if they were also giving a wink to the Allosaurus in "Valley of Gwangi". I guess it could pass for either.
Nice review! I love the sculpts, but I’m definitely disappointed with the difference in paint between the protos. Hopefully the Diablo looking paint scheme will work out!
I could not be more disappointed with the extreme difference in paint scheme of Rhapsody. I will very likely not buy from Rebor again. I'm very much used to prototype vs product, this is far beyond any difference ever seen. Though it's closer to the CRK painting than what they sold us, I don't think it's close to that either except for the lack of pigment. Sculpt is ofcourse the typical Rebor goodness.
these two have very different vibes to me. the charles r. knight version was pretty much the most accurate version of its time. Meanwhile the californication one feels like,, what someone from the 80s who doesn't know anything about dinosaurs would make if you told them to draw a t rex. either way love both of those
Hey friend, I just got my Valley Mesozoic Rhapsody and the mouth on mine was doing the same thing, but the plastic band that came with it wrapped around the head, and I am sure you could do it with a rubber band if you dont still have it. I posed the arms so they were straight out and run that plastic band around both arms and up to the bottom lip careful not to get it on the teeth so as not to bend the teeth but just on the lip and I let it set for a couple hours and it kind of made it so the mouth will stay open more so. But I love it it is very cool and the little plastic band trick seems to have helped keep the jaw open like it was supposed to be. hope this helps you out on keeping the mouth open.
To me, The Green T Rex should be a better design for the movie Carnosaur than the original design. The tail is well done perfectly then the movie version, I would also say that if they remake Carnosaur, they should use this design.
I was looking forward to Valley being more Gwangi-esque based on the preview images. As much as I love Charles Knight’s art, I can’t help but be a little disappointed. Californication might be a future purchase though.
Maaaan, id rather have those 2 Retrosaur T-Rex's, over 90% of all those scientifically boring T-Rex's, currently on the market! Nothing can hang, at least untill Nanmu drops thier new JP T-Rex on us! Rebor & Nanmu are the only 2 Dino figure companies I need lol.
It bugs me a bit how after all these years Rebor can't figure out how to make articulated jaws that work properly. They used to look like a premium stuff back in the day, but now PNSO and Nanmu raised the bar well above Rebor standards.
Hey Andy I have an advice to make your videos more attractive and that is too change your review table to something more vibrant like you could add fake logs with plants or grass etc , I hope I didn’t mean to offend you I just love your videos and I wanna see you become a bigger Channel
Ngl the allosaurus looks way worse irl than in the production shots Really feels like rebor put all the effort on the green rex and the allo was an afterthought
