2020 Salesperson of the year Scott Herrman explains how to use the sometimes tricky transmission of the 2021 Rogue. Including how to shift into neutral, which we finds trips people up.
@@equalheatiscool9267because it’s going through the gears to get to P like all traditional shift lovers do. Does your car skip Reverse when putting in park ? 😅
This was me today!! At the car wash and couldn’t figure out how to put it in neutral. Two guys who worked there tried to help me and didn’t know either and somehow I finally got it to work. Just found this video so I know for the next time LOL. THANK YOU!
Damn man me too! Took my wife's car and pulled in, guy walks away.....yeah stopped the car wash. He couldn't figure it out. Nobody could had to drive through the wash. It happened to me today too!!!
Don't feel like the only one, happened to me as well on my first car wash experience. Also, I don't like the eco/standard/sport mode switch location, too easy to hit just reaching for something.
Do not worry. I work at a car wash and to this day people come through not knowing how to do this. I watched this video just so I can help people put their car in neutral because it happens so much
Thank you so much for this. I work at an automatic car wash and have to help people with their cars all the time, but if a Nissan/Mitsubitsi came in, we were both helpless. Finally remembered to look this up, now I'm unstoppable 🤣
I've got a 2022 rogue and the dealership didn't bother to explain any of this, I've had the car for about 3 weeks,at least twice now I've been driving along and and all of a sudden my revs go from normal to super high, I'm used to cars of both manual and Auto but never had one that's BOTH! I'm still now sure how it works,as when I THOUGHT I was in regular drive mode it seems to just hop over to Manual by itself while driving, unless I'm doing something wrong 🤔 nice of the dealership to explain this though (not), Thanks for this video, you made things a bit easier lol
If anyone is still struggling to put it in neutral make sure you have battery power. Low battery voltage prevents the shifter going into neutral. Not sure why nissan removed the manual lever to put in neutral. Just remember we are not driving cars anymore but computer on wheels
Lmao I just got into a 2023 rogue from a 2016 . The 2023( loaner) I could not figure that shifter lol been in the car for 1 hour thank you for this vid.
Can I disable manual? I keep knocking it into manual by accident like if I reach down and accidently nudge the shifter or I accidentally brush the paddles on steering wheel. It's driving me crazy!!
hi Scott, why when I push the Neutral mode my car still moves by itself? and second question, how many modes are there ?when I am in manual mode I only can see "1" not 2,3,4 etc?
car is probably rolling from gravity "1" is the gear you're in, if it showed 1 2 3 4 you would never know which gear you're in, or it would take up too much space on the gauge cluster
I need to put the vehicle in 'neutral hold' at a full service car wash (where the attendant puts the car in neutral, turns off the engine, and exits the car). If the car is in neutral as you have shown in your video, the transmission will shift into park when you exit the vehicle. I followed the 'neutral hold' instructions but it does not work. Any thoughts?
@@shawnpettis4118 It was surprising to me that the Nissan dealership nor the service manager could not put car into neutral hold; they watched the Nissan video, they read the instructions, and still they could not get car into neutral hold. 3 weeks later I get a call from the dealership and was told they could do it. The dwell time between the first shift into neutral and the second shift into neutral has to be a fraction of a section. The problem is the margin of error is so d*mn small. If I shift too fast the second time or a second to slow the second time, it will not go into neutral hold. If I do the second shift into neutral at just the right time, WOW, it goes into neutral hold. I can now do it about 75% of the time. Whoever wrote the code for this procedure made the tolerance for the dwell time (between 1st and 2nd shift) too small. It surprising to me, as an auto engineer, that this problem was not uncovered before releasing the code.
Got stuck at car wash several times because I couldn't get car into neutral. Still very finnicky,. It would be nice if Nissan fixed this issue. I now have to avoid going to car washes requiring the car to be put in neutral. Such a pain.
Mine is super finicky as well, can only push forward for 1/2 second to get it in neutral or it jumps to reverse makes going through car washes a challenge.
Why fix something that wasn't broken just for a new design and electronic as well. Remember the KISS acronym? Keep it simple stupid ? Should have left it alone.
So unnecessary. They should have just taken the same design but set it up like a normal shifter - P R N D/M but with smaller spaces between since it's electronic. It's so much easier and more intuitive to simply push forward / pull back into each gear. No spring loaded action, no buttons, no 'press and hold'.
I rented a Nissan rogue, and the shifting mechanism is a total joke! You push forward for reverse and then pull it back to go forward! Some drunk automotive engineer must’ve designed it!
