There were no documentaries in the old days, to tell us the story of Christmas, but Romanians had puppet theater, the custom called "Viclei". And the "special effects" of the Romanian winter were done by young men throwing burning wheels off the hills, as they were also symbolically burning all the bad deeds of the year past.
Romanians have lots of customs this time of year, as you can also see in this snippet from the Romanian Winter show 2015, and they all have one thing in common: bringing people together. We hope these holidays give you the opportunity to be together with those you love, if not in person then at least in spirit. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
