14:42 - Hearing Elder Holland speak of a reunion with his baby brother who passed away was very touching. Who do you look forward to meeting most on the other side?

My beautiful, sweet youngest son, he just recently passed away at the age of 29 after a year and 4 month long, hard battle with colon cancer. He left behind a 6 year old son, who is just as much an angel as he, and my daddy who passed away at the age of 57

Elder Holland and his wife and family speak of very important things I myself no they are true. It seems to bring out the good and sometimes the bad. That is the time to heal the bad and get rid of the hard feelings that will Cloud your life in darkness. Thank you brother Holland for your service and countless hours serving the lord Jesus Christ. I am grateful to be apart of this great church of Jesus Christ in these letter days. It is a awesome blessing to take part going to the temple.

I call the principles taught in this video, "the ties that bind". Ties that bind a husband to his wife, a child to their parents, us to our progenitors, us to our future posterity. Indeed the ties that bind us to our Heavenly Home, our Heavenly Father. The more consistant, enduring, and frequent we can create these ties, make our relationships stronger and more difficult to break! Thank you so much for sharing this reminder of ways to strenthen the ties!

This has been a remarkable video! I'm so grateful to have seen it. I've recently moved to St. George and found myself in Elder Holland's former ward family. Sister Holland, my great grandmother came to America from Switzerland at the age of 7! Elder Holland my grandson, the first missionary from our family, served his mission in Ireland. You mentioned something that I will have to go back and listen to again that resonated with me. I immediately thought of how over the years, because of an experience at the age of 6, I have stayed true and built upon that treasured feeling..."that the baby Jesus is real, and is someone special to cling to"! I remember growing up drawing closer to my Savior, (always being brought back to that Christmas experience when only 6), and eventually at the age of 36, I was brought to the knowledge of our Savior's true Church, where I joined, that December, at the age of 37 and have enjoyed learning, living, and sharing this true and wonderful gospel! Thank you both for this very special tour of the area I get to call my new home! And for the thoughts and experiences your whole, immediate, family shared!

Absolutely loved this post...thank you so much. My late husband and I spent just one day in St George 49 years ago as visitors from Rhodesisa (Zimbawe) I was blessed with returning to that city ,St George , again 6 years ago ....this time as a widow ...but not alone....my travel companions were my first Missionary companion and her husband. I was reminded of that trip and the sweet reminder of staying in the home of one of the Elders who had taught my husband and his family the Gospel. So Grateful that the Holland family were all together and shared so much of the city and their lives . ( Just have to end by saying .....I served my mission in The Netherlands ..... usually just known as Holland !)

Sorry I just noticed that you were from Rhodesia. (Zimbabwe) I'm from Zimbabwe. I live in Masvingo and have only been a member going on 2 years. I have never known the happiness and Joy that the gospel has brought me. I am so grateful to be a member of the church. It's amazing to know that there have been members of the church in our country for so long. I'd love to know more about the history of the church in Zimbabwe.

Elder, Sister Holland and family thank you so much for sharing your beautiful memories and stories of family, home, and service to our Heavenly Father. This was beautiful! My favorite place and favorite thing to do is to be in the House of the Lord connecting my family together. I am a convert to the church in 1989. Since childhood, I have always felt my ancestors from the other side of the veil reaching out to me, nudging me and directing me. I was in a traumatic automobile accident in 1981 and I wondered why I was saved. A couple of years ago, I was kneeling at the alter as proxy for a sealing of a child. I was looking into the Sealer's eyes and it came to me this is WHY. I am the only member of my family. I am so grateful for my many blessings. This year June 9th will be the 40th anniversary of my accident.

I adopted these two as my surrogate parents when I was young, but they never knew it. I love them both. I got to have a big hug from Jeffrey Holland when I was in my 20's. I told him that I love his wife and he told me that he gets that all the time and I love her too. She is a marvelous woman. Matt and I have the same exact birthday! We are twins separated at birth. Hahaha.

I am loving these stories. I know a Randall from Enterprise, UT, he served a mission and was one of the elders who taught us in 1963 when we were baptized into a very small branch at Cortland, NY, and later we went to BYU and after taking a beginning class and becomming very interested, I became a genealogist and have done research for 50+ years... when we were at BYU, my brother and I went to visit the Randalls in Enterprise at the holidays and enjoyed that little town a bit... we are from a small town in NY and my other brother still lives on the small farm we grew up on... its always fun to go visit the old homestead in Moravia, NY. Cheers!

I did not come from a church family such at the Holland's. My mother and father got married in the temple but my father never stepped foot into another temple again. My mother was inactive her whole life and and attended the temple maybe 3 times in her life after being sealed. There are many of us that have to blaze the trail alone and hope when we fall down we have the courage and strength to get ourselves back up. I realize now that some of us are tested differently than others. I do not have much hope in my life that my mother and father will be with me in the eternities. I do not believe in death bed repentance. I firmly believe that now is the time to do that which is required of God. Now is the time while having a body on this earth to do the things required to get back home to Him. I believe that once I am gone from this earth I cannot repent without a body of flesh and bones. I am eternally grateful for this knowledge. "Now is the time to prepare. Then, when death comes, we can move toward the celestial glory that Heavenly Father has prepared for His faithful children.” Russell M. Neslon

Have faith, and leave judgement to God. We often don’t see the entire story and don’t know all we think we do.
@SgtKenway
@SgtKenway 3 года назад
In the Gospel of Matthew 12:32, Jesus insinuates that there IS - at least on some level - forgiveness in the “world to come”, as He states clearly that the “unforgivable sin” against the Holy Spirit can neither be forgiven here nor there (in eternity). If NO sin could be forgiven there, mentioning it would have made no sense. Perhaps the mercies of the Father are so far beyond our comprehension that He does, indeed, offer forgiveness to the repentant who for whatever reason didn’t quite make it there before passing. Withhold judgment; send them the mercy of God, if you have no mercy of your own. Insodoing, we beg God’s mercy on our own lives, both now and eternally.
@Terminatorguy34
@Terminatorguy34 3 года назад
@Michael, yes we can still repeant after we have passed away and are in the Spirit World, but since we will no longer have our bodies of flesh and blood there, repentance will be harder to do. God will give us every chance he can give for us repent, but there will be a time when, it'll be too late. Do not procrastinate your day of repentance, repeant daily.
